Why Does Russia own this Old Piece of German Land?

This piece of land, called the Kaliningrad Oblast, is separated from the Russian mainland by more than 350 kilometers. This means that almost 1 million Russians are separated from the Russian mainland by the countries of Lithuania, Latvia, and Belarus. To understand how Russia got this land in the first place, we have to go back to the end of the second world war.
At this time, Germany owned this piece of land, which at the time was called East Prussia. As the Soviet army was closing in, around 2 million of the Germans living in East Prussia had to flee back to the mainland.
After Germany lost the war, East Prussia, as well as some other territories, were taken from Germany. East Prussia was split between Poland, and the Soviet Union. The upper part was given to the Lithuanian Soviet Republic, and this middle section was given to the Russian Soviet Republic. After the dissolution of the Soviet Union, Kaliningrad remained a part of Russia, as it still is to this day.

Prussians was Baltic tribe enslaved by teutonic knights. Therefore later German land named after it. Prussian language was third but sadly dead Baltic language. Latvian and lithuanian languages are alive and kicking. Part of land given to Lithuania was always populated by ethnic lithuanians. It was called Little Lithuania. Not really a gift there. Russians sadly are invasive species there. Cos Germans fled in WWII.

I would just like to point out that the Kaliningrad region in ancient times belonged to Great Moravia in today's Czech Republic, which is why the city has three couplet names. Kaliningrad, Königsberg and,Kralovec. Oh, and that meaty territory in the north is Memel, which the Germans took during the Second World War. When the Soviet Union existed, nobody decided whose territory it was because Lithuania was part of the USSR and Poland was in the Eastern Bloc and had to obey the dictates of Moscow.

Memel was german since the 13th century. It was stolen after WW1 and it comes back to Germany 1939. Memelland was never a part of Lithuania before WW1.
