In this KZbin video, we discuss India's ambitious plans for its railway infrastructure and the transformative impact it could have on the country's future. I explore the significance of projects like the Vande Bharat Express and the Mumbai-Ahmedabad High-Speed Rail (MAHSR) Corridor, highlighting their potential to revolutionize intercity transportation and stimulate economic growth. Additionally, we address the challenges facing India's current railway system, including issues with cleanliness, punctuality, and overcrowding, and how ongoing reforms aim to address these concerns. By drawing parallels with successful railway developments in countries like Japan, Europe, and China, we evaluate the potential benefits of investing in a modern, efficient rail network for India.

In the 1970s When Park Chung Hee the president of south korea built a 2 lane highway connecting Seoul to Busan pessimists cried rivers that he is spending aid money on tar and concrete while people are suuffering. He didn't pay attention to any of that. Cut to 20 years later the same expressways and modes of transport he invested heavily accelerated growth and made South Korea an economic tiger.

The people asking "why bullet train?" didn't learn from previous generation who said "what use is of road when people can't afford motorcycle?" Even poor people send their kids to better school which might put burden on their finances but they have to keep their kids future in mind. Investment in any infrastructure project shouldn't just about solving present problem but also about ensuring next generation a better future.

@mathurp6889
@mathurp6889 2 ай бұрын
Your comparison is wrong. Imagine if golden quadrilateral was made but only the super rich could drive on it, it won't take any freights and there already was a parallel road system (airplane in our example) was running alongside. Bullet trains are nothing but a vanity project. Our current railway needs this money for up-gradation. Only 8 countries in the world run bullet trains and most of the developed world (read Nordic countries, Canada, Australia etc.) do not have them. Because it's a sheer waste of money, with ticket costs competing with airplanes. All this when your current tracks are in shambles and desperate for investment. PS: For comparison, when Spain got its high speed train, they already had a vast network of 150+ kmph trains across the country. Went from that to 300Kmph. India still has overcrowded diesel trains where people travel on the top, but sure spend billions of loan money on one high speed line!

India's per capita is around $2000. and has been around the same figures this decade with 5-7% annual increase. For a comparison, Spain, the poorest country among those that have bullet trains is $27000. You do the math and tell me how many years will it take for us to compete with them. There were times when you used to hold your urges to got to the washroom because they were inhumanely dirty, spit of Gutkha dirty seats, bunch of people without tickets, but now if not perfect it's still 100times better than before, Toilets are clean, you get running water, active T.C and Police Patrolling the coaches throughout the night. Swiper Mans coming in between big stations to clean the floors and seats, constant running water is there and not overcrowded people without tickets anymore, who tries to snuggle to your seats when you are sleeping. And yes, I'm talking about sleeper class. So we are definitely observing the changes from ground zero. So I have my high hopes for the future of my Country. Jai Hind.

I think the 1.5 hours that gets wasted airport security making the minimum time by air at least 4.5 hours+ has a potential disrupt-able market for the rail sector since rail onboarding doesnt waste that much time in security and almost compensates the time advantage in the air route thru its exhaustive stations spread uniformly instead of select airports that mandate change of multiple forms of transport to reach the final destination .

One thing 'Why bullet train ?' people dont understand is 'Jet fuel is not going to get cheaper.' Once upon a time Delhi-Mumbai Flights costed 2500 now it cost min 4500 average is 5500. If I can travel from Delhi to Mumbai in 6-8 hours in around 4000-4500 rupees. I would prefer that and as cost of electricity goes down and fuel goes up. that 4000-4500 is not going to change much compared to drastic increase air fare.

People who are comparing Indian Bullet train project with Indonesia... Must Understand... In Indonesia Chinese workers and Chinese machines are doing the majority of work with Indonesian workers. **But in India L and T(an Indian company) is doing the construction.** **Electrical overhead wiring work will also be done by L and T** Machines are also built and operated by Indian engineers. Only Chief engineer comes once a while from Japan to see progress and modifications. **So technically India is learning how to make bullet train project** **Just like we learned how to make world class Metro infrastructure** And also JAPAN'S bullet trains are safest and best in the world. "So asking for help again n again in future from Japan is not what India is thinking." That's why it is taking time. Additional info -- Indonesia's route length is 142 km with 4 stations. **India's route length is 508 km (476 km elevated on pillars, including 21 km undersea tunnel) with 12 stations.** "Also, Undersea tunnel will be made by AFCONS which is also an Indian Company. So, it will take time. *Source-Wikipedia.

The 2 cities are economic Hubs, with this comes Important business and economic activity between the 2 cities. Vandebharat and all are amazing undertakings but they are still very slow compared to BT. Giving Businessmen/Commuters/Normal people the ability to get to another city, complete their work and come back in the same day seems extremely beneficial. When BT comes to shorter routes like Bangalore to Chennai we can see commuting possibly working out. (it has in Japan, it is very normal to see people commute or Come into Tokyo, Osaka or Nagoya from other cities(Sendai, Nigata, etc) out of the corridor and in for a day and leave in time for dinner. With all of this surely we will get huge traffic Influx. Vande can serve for travellers and people staying for a day or more, making it much cheaper for them while people who can afford it or need it for business can use the BT.

But what I'm saying is, Tamil Nadu always seems to get left out when it comes to important infrastructure projects. It's not just about trains; it's about the central government giving some love to the second-biggest GDP state in India. While the Modi government focuses on infrastructure a lot, I think they fall into the trap of "good infrastructure equals good economic development". They may have forgotten that there must be people to use said infrastructure, which India doesn't have enough of. Our government should focus on reducing inequality and making it less difficult for poor people to become affluent. Also I find it odd that nobody is talking about the neighbourhoods that were divided, damaged and destroyed by the bullet train project. I hope someone raises a voice against this.

Bullet trains are a century-old technology. Electric/hydrogen airplanes represent the future. They promise to be eco-friendly, capable of traveling at speeds close to 1000 km/h, and may not require significant investments since they can utilize existing infrastructure. Their ticket price will also be cheap. Reports suggest they are ideal for short-haul flights ideal for connecting all indian cities. In contrast, even under the most optimistic projections, India might only connect some cities with bullet trains by the 2050s. Electric airplanes could become operational within the next few years itself. Therefore, rathar than investing billions on bullet trains, it seems prudent to invest more in the research of electric/hydrogen airplanes, considering their significant export potential.

trains are one of the best modes of transport ever made and will continue to remain so. they're relatively the safest and eco friendly due to electrification. Goodluck trying to pitch the idea of an electric rocket to space btw. and goodluck finding a battery with better energy density to weight than rocket fuel

Also with these projects the technical,engineering knowledge and experienced gained is immense. People often overlook the power of R&D even if a project fails after burning billions of dollars. The best example for it is the US mainly their defense industry.

Me myself has witnessed the changing infra our station where Amrit Bharat stations are being developed by the railway to give much better to the passengers and make the overall experience better it's the overall vision of our country have as we voted for change and we're getting the change in many aspects not quickly but slowly we're on track to be better in each aspect with passing years❤ hope our opposition be more worry about things that are wrong and not about caste and regional division of our country wishing our 'Bharat' will be 'sone ki chidiya' once again in upcoming century ❤

Based on the initial estimate of 1.08L Cr, JICA (Japan) agreed to provide 81% funding at an interest rate of 0.1%. While one can argue, why can't they fund to upgrade our existing railway network infra, the reason they ain't interested in these traditional projects where they can't bring their Japanese expertise and export potential. To understand their funding just go through the JICA India funding page, most of the infra's are in the urban space like metro, IUT, DFC etc which has good returns, and highly skilled human resources with an option of exports. They are already investing in large transportation projects such as MTHL or roads in the Northeast, apart from health, education, energy etc. (General trivia: Indonesia rejected JICA- Japan high-speed train proposal because they refuse to transfer technology while the Chinese agreed to share the technology and set the manufacturing capacity in the country)

Bullet trains could be a niche until you raise per capita income meaning limit bullet trains to routes which really adds significant economic value and this should be done without diluting the prices (keep it high enough for profitability). This will ensure that India achieves technological capability in mobility without bogging ourselves down with debt. And once per capita income rises enough, then scale up by adding bullet trains to more lines eventually transition completely to bullet trains by adjusting the prices down taking economies of scale (mass adoption) into account. This could be the way to go.

follow up on this video , the max speed of the vandhe bharat trains have been reduced to 130 KMH recently due to poor infrastructure/maintenance of train tracks , bringing average speed to 75KM/Hr , and govt projects are falling apart left right and center due to poor construction , Ram Mandir leaks , Delhi airport incident , setu bridge, unless corruption is under control i think india has a long way to go

We need more high speed trains for medium distance cities that are like 200 kms from one another... Like Chennai, hosur, Bengaluru... At right priced tickets that could bring in Labour force sharing between the cities... Also it could pass through the new greenfield airport coming up near parandur...
