That's just the effect of aging on his voice. Sometimes time isn't so kind to the voices of certain people, and many singers and voice actors sounded a lot different in 1999 than they do in 2022. I think Tom Kenny's voice has stood the test of time very well though, especially considering how high-pitched and fairly demanding SpongeBob's voice is when compared to that of Squidward or Patrick.

He’s 60, been doing SpongeBob’s voice and laugh for 23 years now I bet his voice is lowering due to it. Fatigue could also play a part since Kamp Koral and new movies are set to come out. All in all I think Tom Kenny’s talent is still present, I really like the way SpongeBob sounds in these later seasons. He sounds more sophisticated but in a perfect cartoony way to not feel detached from the character.

I noticed his voice change the most, when playing Battle for Bikini Bottom Rehydrated, as the game originally came out in 2003 which is during the time of the older seasons when his voice sounded like it did, but then I played the Cosmic Shake and his voice sounds much different as it's his current voice not his original voice and it does sound off as all the other characters around him sound like they used to when the show came out, but SpongeBob's voice is slightly different. Though this is due to Tom getting older and doing this voice for over 20 years now so there's nothing you can do about it sadly.

Older VAs tend to lower the intensity of voice acting that involves high pitched voice. Norio Wakamoto for example can't do a high pitched voice when voicing Cell in recent years unlike in the 90s

Still remember the first time I saw this on a singer. Tony Kakko of Sonata Arctica lived in the high notes. But their prime was late 80’s and 90’s. I’ll never forget when I saw them live in 2008. I would think his vocal cords are probably getting strained after all these years. This is slightly off topic but Gordon Ramsay is another example of temperament and voice change. In the early seasons of Hell's Kitchen all he does is scream and shout and get angry. Now he's toned it down a lot. I think too much.
