Any of us who aren't rich or in power would have been lead away to jail in cuffs. Not given weeks or months until sentencing. "Iron out your details" or get together and figure everything out with your family is NO EXCUSE. They have phones in jail/prison, and lawyers can meet with you too. So... what happened with that? OH that's right, the 2 or 3 tiered justice system.. rich and wealthy get away with murder while they are waiting on sentencing for their crimes.. or they make deals with the other side to avoid jail altogether. Sickening. I remember one case a long time ago where an NFL star was driving drunk, hit and killed a 50 year old man walking home from work. The NFL player settled out of court with the family of the deceased for an unknown amount of money. The outcome? The player lost his license for life, and didn't spend a single day in jail. You, I or anyone else would have spent 20 years to life if we had done that, but here we are. Tired of it. I hope Trump gets actual justice. He has been given so many chances and passes to keep committing these crimes and fraudulent deeds that it's disgusting! I cant believe he is running for president as a felon.. when a felon cant VOTE FOR THE PRESIDENT AS A FELON. Wtf is happening to our country!? What kind of sense does that make?? It's ridiculous!!

I’ve taught critical thinking and logic in universities and merely having the tools to identify formal and informal fallacies does very little to improve one’s ability to make empathic, or ethical choices; neither is adding media literacy to all that doing much. Like the Trump claim about illegal immigrants taking new jobs, this is 107% correct. As I've said before, you can watch Trump at his rallies when the crowd is cheering. He's got his eyes closed with that goofy cartoon character grin on his face, and he just soaks it all up. He lives for that praise because he knows it gives him the two things he loves most, positive attention, and money. He goes for the people that already like him because he can't stand negative responses, and he's not willing to try hard enough to fool people that don't like him into changing their minds. He would have to do an Oscar award winning acting job, for a long period of time, to make people believe he changed a lifetime of terrible behavior and actions. He can't last a day without lying, so that' not happening. He's hoping the support he has is enough to win. So very true. I always worked SO hard during my working years. I always returned calls, did what I promised people I would do, when I promised to do it. People would be amazed that I actually returned their call. Sometimes, I even snuck into the office on a Saturday morning for 45 minutes or so, just to get my workstation ready for work the following week. And, not one manager ever noticed. But, my coworker who came to work pissed off and cussed out the entire floor and did just enough work to keep the job got promoted. 😢

I was watching the protests that day when Trump pulled that stump. If it had been a Hollywood Movie, I would've been rolling my eyes at how heavy handed, and card carrying the "President Evil" character was. Not only did Trump defile both Saint John's Church and the Bible on national TV, not only did his thugs (who were not DC police) drive away the pastor of that church with tear gas for the sake of a photo-op, but he also managed to check off every single one of Christ's signs of religious hypocricy from Matthew 23. I think it's more insidious. Like a bully who says "That's MY lunch money!" before taking it from you, Trump doesn't expect you to believe that your lunch money is actually his. But he expects you to have to act like it's his. It's not a lie, it's a gloat.

Part of the dynamic here is similar to why email spammers use the most boneheaded scams imaginable, complete with misspelled words and obvious errors: By being so incredibly stupid about it, they whittle down the potential marks to those who are dumb enough to sign over their life savings. That explains the true believers, at least. What it doesn't explain, on its own, is the large number of supporters who consider themselves in on the grift, but haven't noticed whether their bank account has been going up or down as a result of being allegedly in on the grift.
