Yes, I think you're right. As a dark-skinned, unambiguous black woman, I find it really upsetting that they only promote women with looser hair textures when wanting to showcase dark-skinned beauty. But maybe my situation is a bit different from most black women. For one,I did not grow up in the United States. I grew up in Germany, and my parents are from Nigeria. And ever since I was little, I wore my natural hair like 80% of the time. My mom always instilled in me that my natural hair is beautiful, and that my dark skin is beautiful. But I don't know how it is for American women or women who grew up with unambiguous black mothers who hate their features. Btw , I just recently stumbled across your channel, and I think it's very interesting to see how light-skinned women navigate the world.Much love❤

Sudanese/Horn-African women are some of the most beautiful in the world. Adut Akech is another beauty from Sudan (south sudan).
@momo-cchi59782 ай бұрын
Horn African folks are basically nilotic people with ancient Middle Eastern admixture. So, we get our tall, skinny, and 'exotic' features from our ancient East African ancestors. The average Ethiopian is basically a brown skin South Sudanese person with looser curls, a pointier nose, and more meat on their bones. Somalis, on the other hand, are all those things, but with a fatter ass cos of some African hunter-gatherer (think Khoi-San in South Africa) type ancestry and even looser curls cos of more a recent Middle Eastern (Arab) migrations into the region cos they live on the coast right next to Arabia. Y'all need to remember that before all the Oil wealth Arabia was a literal hell hole and these people would try and gtfo the first chance they got, so they'd migrate to neighboring regions like the Levant, Iran, North Africa, East Africa and even India. That's why all the populations living around Arabia have significant Arab DNA. Hell, we still have a significant ethnic Arab minority still living in Somalia who speak Somali as their first language. Eastern Bantus have some Ethio-Somali and Nilotic admixture, so they tend to favour their indigenous East African neighbors whom their Ancient Cameroonian/Congolese ancestors have absorbed when they moved into the region. They obviously became the dominant group in East Africa before they were more technologically advanced than the natives cos West Africa had always had better agricultural and metallurgical capabilities than East Africa.

I commented about how it’s a blowdryer ad and coily hair doesn’t blowout silky. Chile, the way they came for me and my statement and how coily hair can be blowdried silky and i must be incompetent and these companies need to hire better talent 🙄 or maybe yall just don’t like the true nature of your hair. I agree, I’m a Ghanaian girl who mostly unambiguous minus my tiny nose but I grew up in Ghana so I always wore my natural 4c hair out and I’ve even grown it out to be very long. However when I started using social media and stumbled upon a lot of Black women from America and seeing how they presented themselves I noticed that you would never see all three of these features at the same time: Dark skin, 4c hair, and unambiguous features. Either the girl would have a loose hair texture , she’d have ambiguous features , or she would be light skin and there’s nothing wrong with that but I wonder why someone would preach that their the blueprint but don’t wanna imbrace features that make them the “blueprint” apparently. Just thoughts 🤷♀️

Yes, I never see BWE post or promote UADSW with natural hair and broader features; it feels like it's not allowed to have all three of those features AND be confident or put on a beauty pedestal. When you post those types of photos, they get offended without explaining where or why the offense was taken.
@ExoticalsUnited6 ай бұрын
exactly!! like when i ask them to point to which part of my photos makes these women look bad they can never explain or point to what makes them look ugly or messed up. theyll be like "you post off guard photos of UABW"- its like, are you sure? because these are professional modeling photos from runways and red carpets so what makes them look so ugly and off guard? 🤔

Because she's not representing the standard they aspire for when she has a natural look. They didn't like Annie Leibowitz's photoshoot of several black women and said she shouldn't photograph them because she didn't know how to do it correctly. The real problem? The pictures show dsbw in their natural beauty.

It’s because UBW know all too well the societal standards of beauty and it’s hardwired in. I’m a light skin black woman with add mixture from a grandparent on both sides. I wore locs for almost my entire life until I decided to cut them. The level of privilege I get now with sewins and wigs shocked the 💩 out of me lol. It’s like with each standard you can meet, you get a boost in approval. And that approval comes from within your own community as well. I had locs since I was a kid and got nowhere near the level of privilege I get now ❤

I think the act of applying makeup is just an acceptable norm the world over. Even the most beautiful women are covered in layers of makeup. It makes those without it feel naked, especially if they are celebrities, attending important functions, or going to offices, or attending interviews. To some societies, it's a culture, a part of grooming.

I loved Grace Jones in her short natural she was striking. The Sudanese models are absolutely stunning in their short almost bald-headed crop cuts. Actress Lupita Nyong'o absolutely gorgeous. These women are outstanding unambiguous dark complexion women, and I'm quite sure there's more. IMO, everybody can't rock short crop naturals or even bald heads...no matter what complexion! Yes, you're right there is plenty of hypocrisy going around in the unambiguous dark complexion community but there's too many layers as to why.

Other than type 4 hair, none of these features is really exclusive or even majority only appearing on blacks. There are whites with big broad noses abd thick lips. Perhaps small nose and keen features are simply the preferred beauty look overall
@sophiam98866 ай бұрын
Yeah, I think a more accurate term for thin or sharper features is Nordic features, not necessarily "European" features. Caucasians have a vast range of features just like other races do, and their predominant set of features aren't always thin. The one thing they have most in common is their skin, the second most common is the silkyness of their hair which could range from bone straight to even very curly. I understand that content creators need to speak in generalities, though, in order to make a more broad reaching point. I think EU is pretty good at bringing the nuances of these concepts into the conversation.

But let's be real SOME girls are just pretty regardless of hair length = Alek Wek Normally women who are male-centered often say MEN LIKE GIRLS WITH LONG HAIR.....so they spend money on all the stereotypical stuff like long nails & long lashes & long wigs to EXAGGERATE what they don't have. Men don't want a wife looking like a drag queen = simple feminine styles can make you look PRETTY If a lady has short hair she can still pull a guy by her dress sense or makeup style, your cousins don't have the CONFIDENCE to rock short hair that's the real reason they tried to discourage you
