I think love song is more bubblegum pop and not where 5SOS are as artists. If 5SOS had taken Love song they would have made it much more edgier or probably changed it. The current WDW sound is more boy band driven and vocalists and not quite at pop band level (not Pop Rock where 5SOS are). But Fallin is great and if they had a whole album of that caliber of song then they’d be catching up to 5SOS with Youngblood and CALM. (Even earlier 5SOS self titled and Sounds Good Feels Good are fuller more developed albums than where WDW are at the moment). Props to Daniel and Jonah for being the main writers of this group. They’ll get better as their sound matures with time. I’m still a low key fan of this group (my 19-21 year old daughters like them) but they’re not mainstream radio artists in Australia yet. If they’d been able to tour internationally over 2020 that might have changed. So hopefully 2021 will be a bigger year for them.

Can I be honest? I just need to get this out with someone haha, If you don't care that's fine. Also, I don't want to offend anyone, this is just my opinion. I didn't listen to their new album when it came out, and I listened to 5SOS full albums like a month ago (youngblood and calm), and then remembered WDW had a new album, and from the vibe that Falling or lotus in or slow down gave I was expecting so much more and better, but when I listened to their full album, I was SO disappointed, like only love song and those other 3 songs were like a bit top, but the rest of the album for ME was SO boring. Some songs I just listened to like a minute and skipped because it was so boring. And thinking back to the hype that they gave it really put my expectations high. Like from releasing falling as their first single I was really looking forward to so much more. Like I listened to 5SOS and both their albums were amazing and the new sound of them, I get they are different genres but from falling I was expecting a LITTLE bit more of like 5SOS vibes, because that's what that song gave me. But anyway, hopefully they can better their next album. For the meantime I'll go stream 5SOS haha.
