Thank you. I understand why some wounds take long time to heal in comparison to others.

Dr Erik- my wounds were taking extremely long to heal for the last 5 years. I used to love red meat, but cut down a lot. I ate only meat for 4 months . I burned myself badly on the finger and the large burn and wound healed in 3-5 days. I used to take 3-5 months to heal a small paper cut

This is so helpful! I was wondering why my port scar was taking so long to heal but sure enough I started adriamycin within a week of having my surgery so this makes sense. I started glutamine supplementation 2 months post surgery and now the healing is back on track!

🇨🇦 Such a well done video! I watched it twice, so much information. Looking forward to the next four parts. How do you have time to do your patient care? They are very lucky to have such an informed doctor. Thanks for your response to a previous comment. Please don’t feel you need to take the time to respond though. Your ‘study hard’ at the end reminds me of David Goggins ‘stay hard’. Good advice. Judy.

@@citizensurgeon 🇨🇦. This series is coming in handy. My dissolvable stitches dissolved on the tenth day but my wound just opened right up! I’ll get it looked at at the cancer clinic tomorrow. I’ve had this happen before. No worries. Thanks again!

In terms of alcohol, the negative influence might happen even by small beer glass? Or was that related to strong alcohol?
@mimishaadmasu5956 Жыл бұрын
I don't understand the mechanism , alcohol delay wound healing ?
@citizensurgeon Жыл бұрын
The cellular mechanisms relate to the inflammatory and proliferation phases as well as increasing the risk of infection and decreasing VEGF receptors and circulating HIF-1alpha. There is a nice summary here with references. www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/PMC2903966/
