I clean dust for a living, a really good trick to reduce silicate intake is wetting a large square bandana, tying it so it forms a bag. You don't want it tight, it should expand and shrink as you breathe. It's not comfortable. But it's muuuuuch cheaper than respirator filters 👍 But not as affective
@RickySTT2 жыл бұрын
Sahara dust reaches the Americas every summer; in fact, it’s a major source of micronutrients in the Amazon basin. Here in the Caribbean, it occasionally reduces visibility to 5 or 10 miles. It’s just that in 2020, the dust took a turn northward and made its acquaintance with the mainland USA.
@jaqihegland62322 жыл бұрын
It was also a much bigger dust cloud than normal, caused by the unusual lack of hurricanes, or so I remember reading.
@eduardbass8392 жыл бұрын
The Sahara’s dust is a fertiliser without it the amazon forrest would actually be significantly less dense. There was a paper on it based on nasas satellite observations the places the dust settled on had higher density and more overall plant-life.

I'm asthmatic with allergies to dust and pollens, so most of this was already very familiar to me, but I learned some new details. I've heard stories about the effects of flour "dust" on the lungs of people who worked in bakeries for a long time. Maybe a starting point for a sequel to this video?

Alright, poop breather Lol I'm kidding... But not really. I have asthma too, but more seriously I get extreme dermititis, my downstairs neighbors keep a ton of pets, small rodents and rabbits. Animal hoarders basically. I'm very allergic to rabbits. I wish I wasn't. But I'm getting asthma attacks and these really nasty rashes all the time from them. My husband once brought up a bunch of Magic cards they threw out and I had a huge breakout. They're filthy. So we have a rule now that none of their stuff is allowed in our place, no matter how valuable it is....unless it can be thoroughly washed and I have to be out of the apartment.

Had to start doing the same in washington since the massive wildfires are going from a once a decade thing to an annual thing. Or probably their poop. I used to keep a cricket terrarium in my home. It looked pretty and provided a very soothing white noise. Plus, the crickets were fun to watch. But I sneezed every time I got near the terrarium. So, no cricket terrarium or non-clumping pine litter for me.
