www.crosstrainingenduro.com tractionerag.ca Romania. Dirt riding mecca. The enduro capital of the world. On these enduro tours it can be as tough or as easy as you want. We are mostly intermediate riders so we have opted for a week of cruising the beautiful highlands, mixed in with some reasonably gnarly riding. Our guides say most of this is about a bronze level in Romaniacs and we find that is perfect: it is fun but plenty of challenge for us without killing actually ourselves.... hopefully. Ready for your adventure of a lifetime in Romania? Carpathian Adventures offers customised enduro tours and rider training in the world capital of dirt riding. We also have full race support for riders entering Red Bull Romaniacs, and epic adventure riding through the beautiful Carpathian Mountains here in Romania. Carpathian Adventures is located near Sibiu in the foothills of the Carpathian mountains. There are plenty of rocky sections in the Carpathian Mountains, if you like that sort of thing. And we like it! This is a typical rocky section you might find in iron class at Romaniacs. Not difficult, but tiring. You can keep your speed up if you stand on the footpegs. But if you are tired you will need to slow down, and you will get bumped around a lot. Join us on a Romanian enduro tour! A one minute ride out of our villa in this picturesque village and you are into enduro paradise - an incredible range of tracks, crossing beautiful creeks way up into tall mountains. Our dirt bike tours can be fully customised to suit different skill levels and ages for groups up to 10 riders... all the way from easy dirt rides through to training for Romaniacs.
Fitness and endurance are everything at Romaniacs, even in the lowest class. Bronze sections. You want to stand as much as possible and dab the ground with one leg as needed. Here is a perfect example from one of the New Zealand riders. Standing means better traction and less getting bumped off line. He gently dabs the ground to keep balance and to keep weight on that rear wheel. Perfect. You can see how much harder it is when you sit on the seat. Mind you, if you keep your momentum you can still get through quite well if sitting on the seat. It's very wet here, so Les is sitting on the seat. You can see how much he is getting bounced around. Of course in long events sometimes you need to sit and conserve energy too... it can take a lot of energy to stay standing all day. One or two of the guys were members of the NRA which was quite an experience... I've never met an NRA member before. They told me it's not dirt bikes that kill people. It's people riding dirt bikes that kill people... and only themselves. So it's self inflicted death apparently. I know the feeling, it seems my bike is trying to kill me all the time. Although deep down I suspect it's really just my lack of talent. Romania offers the best dirt riding in the world and Carpathian Adventures provides the best enduro tours, Romaniacs race support, and villa accommodation - all near Sibiu in the foothills of the stunning Carpathian Mountains. Enjoy the best enduro riding in Romania with Carpathian Adventures! Dirt riding in Romania is an exceptional experience and if you want to do a Romanian enduro tour then we can help. I know not everyone is into this sort of riding, but I am having the time of my life. And with like minded guys. Life is good. I wonder what is happening over in Canada at the moment? And just when the fatigue is getting too much, we ride out into the highlands again and those amazing views. If you don't have riding like this at home, I reckon you have to put Romania on your bucket list. Me? I can't wait to get back!

Since posting these vids a few Romanians have told me that some property owners and locals are getting angry with dirt riders disturbing their flocks up in the mountains, riding on tracks meant for hikers only, riding loudly past their farmhouses and riding like idiots in the villages. I would suggest going with a tour group if possible as the guides work hard to keep good relations with the locals, and avoid prohibited areas etc. 😊

Thanks for mentioning it. Yes unfortunately. There are more no-go areas. It's still paradise but one needs to know where to go, and use common sense when riding.

@@crosstrainingenduro Last year, in early September, the ban on enduro driving in Romania entered into force. As far as I know, each municipality decides on its own, but the provision exists. However, I hope that not every commune will decide to enforce this provision, because for several years now, a trip to Romania has been a great holiday for me ;-D

I just drool at those shots of the open fields on top of the mountains...sigh. And I can barley stand with both feet on the pegs, much less on one peg while I dab with the other foot!!
@Dowent

I was having trouble with this as well (and am certainly no authority), but what helped me a lot was practicing starting and stopping without ever touching the seat. It makes dabs feel more natural and since I can't static balance, it is great for tackling close obstacles, since you transition from stopped directly to the position on the pegs.

Yeah thanks for the tip. I plan on practicing more static balancing this year. I’m terrible at it and I know it will help in the situation where I need to dab.

Sadly, with the new law restricting these activities it may get harder. Although tour groups organized by locals may not feel any restrictions, it's hard to tell at this point.

Sometimes we are our own worst enemy, a few of the Romanians have been telling me some property owners are starting to ban riding on their land because idiot riders don't respect the privilege and are spooking livestock, riding loudly past houses, going too fast through the villages etc. Our guides worked hard at staying on good terms with all their locals and keeping us well behaved.

What's happening in Canada at the moment? Well I got multiple feet of snow outside and a disassembled bush tractor in the garage. And I'm getting fatter and stupider by the day ever since I had to stop riding. Crossing my fingers for an early start this year.

I've never been through a white winter, how do you guys stay sane... and fit?! The guys I stay with in Canada usually have treadmills or elliptical trainers and work out while they watch movies. The guys near Vancouver go the studded tyres and keep riding but apparently it rains a lot?

@@crosstrainingenduro Well, smart folks would keep up a decent exercise regime over winter. I try to do that, but usually just spend 4 months watching KZbin videos like yours and convincing myself that I'm not an alcoholic and that everything will be fine come April. Beyond that, it's high time to order parts and perform maintenance on the bike and start other projects that I never intend to actually work on over the winter because it's too bloody cold in the garage to do jack all. Some people buy snowmobiles, but they live in perpetual denial and anxiety due to never actually being sure if the snow will come at the right time and in enough quantity to make owning a $20,000 sled worth the ownership costs. Unless you live in the mountains or Quebec, you never know what you are going to get. Especially in Ontario where I am.

Ouch. $20,000 for a sled. I know the eRag guys are thinking about snow bikes because the snow is so reliable around Kamloops.

@@crosstrainingenduro We don't run studs here on the west coast of Canada but we do ride all winter. In a normal winter there is usually only 1-2 weekends where there is much snow on the lower trails so it's not worth using studs. That and the local clubs really discourage the use of studded tires. And yes it rains a lot.
