bro, in this video he covered the linux commands only and not used any specific tools. Also you can't make your own tool without knowing how to use this basic tools and most often hackers will only make scripts that automates the commands needed to run the other tools like nmap, john, ncat, etc... rather than creating their own tool from scratch for hacking targets.
