To clarify on the buttons: I was given Punk Workshop mouse switch buttons (most typical buttons are keyboard switch or Sanwa). They are much faster theoretically to activate, but require much more force. It's one of the newer offerings for button types for Punk Workshop controllers, but not the default! The keyboard switch buttons are much closer to a Kitsune style/more traditional leverless/arcade stick button. I will be swapping my mouse buttons out for the regular keyboard switch buttons, the mouse buttons are not for me, but others might like them. Punk Workshop has multiple options so pick what you like. We were mistaken with the removal of an "O" ring to change the action of these buttons. The mouse buttons only have one configuration.

is that controller with the extra buttons tournament legal? if not not sure how every pros controller have extra buttons.
@Brian_F4 сағат бұрын
@@roastytoasty8559 You are allowed one physical button per digital action that you can map in the controller menu. When I assign an action to an extra button, you remove the action from another button. You still have the same amount of total actions available with your controller, you essentially just moved the button. tl;dr yes it's all legal. I don't use non-CPT legal configurations.

@@Brian_F Interesting design choice using what looks like mouse button switches. I use Khalil low profile chock purples. Small travel distance and about as light as i can tolerate without accidental presses. I started with much harder clicky switches and when i switched over my 2P side got so much more consistent. The clicky switches were like resistance training for the left side of my hand.

Hey Brine, when you were on stream I looked up the switches on the new punk workshop, the kitsune, and the old Qanba Obsidian. Several people posted them in chat but I wanted to post some in one place. Punk Workshop Blaze buttons: Omron D2FC-F-K 60MN. - 0.3mm actuation distance - 60g actuation force Razer Kitsune buttons: Razer Low-Profile Linear Optical Switches - 1.2mm actuation distance - 45g actuation force Qanba Obsidian OBSF buttons: Sanwa SW-68. - 0.85mm actuation distance, 2.53mm total bottom out distance, 55g actuation force, Just wanted to say that even if you're not a hardware techie, it is worth tailoring the microswitches to your liking and comfort. Mechanical keyboard enthusiasts have made it easier to understand what type of switch is comfortable for different users. If you're getting keyboard switches you have infinity options so please don't restrict yourself to these numbers. If you like how regular sanwa buttons depress, you have smooth linear switch options with more pre-travel and light actuation force. Obviously you can get someone to swap it at any arcade hardware booth at the next major you attend. If you really want someone else to do the swap, it will be trivial for them. Picking a switch you will actually like is very practical and worth getting a bit invested in.

The jump button placement on the Punk Workshop leverlesses is why I didn't buy any of them, it's too much to the left which forces your thumb to curl in. I use a Haute42 R16 and an Overdrive Neo, both of which have similar button sizing to the OG HitBox layout (30mm jump, 24mm everything else). I've experimented a lot with button assignments, but the most comfy one I've found is to put parry on the extra thumb button, keep DI on the default L1/LB, and the 3kick macro on L2/LT for Ed's command dash (works for Akuma and Ken too).

ANGRY COMMENT ABOUT SOL
@EAprima4 сағат бұрын
Man. I remember a time when using shortcuts and any other additional buttons was taboo and considered "cheating". Only 6 buttons were allowed just like the arcade machine, everyone had to be on the same level playing field of learning. Even when you used to go and play the game at your friend's house, assigning a shortcut button was completely frowned upon and led to arguments that the person assigning the shortcut could never win. Now look at how everything is today. Not only are macro keys accepted in tournaments, but we also have ACTION REPLAY cheat tools helping too. Tools that developers disguised as "Modern Controls". Lazy controller schemes are deemed acceptable, and shortcuts are considered fine as well. People are not required to play on the same level when it comes to learning how to excel at a craft. What's next? Will script cheating, which is currently being banned, become acceptable in the next two years, disguised as something like "Alpha Controls"? Imagine an amateur reaching the finals of a tournament using "Alpha Controls" against someone who has spent time and effort mastering a standard 6-button controller. If that person with the 6-button controller loses to the "Alpha Controls" user in a tournament with serious prize money, will the Street Fighter and Fighting Games community ridicule them with harsh comments like "you scrub!", "cope much?", or "git gud!" if they voice their concerns about tournament fairness? "But the developers adjusted Modern Controls for fairness", you say? Well, did they? Does that overlook the fact that one player has developed skills over time, while another person is simply "reacting"? The latter hasn't and isn't facing the same psychological challenges that come with "motion inputs" during their matches and is receiving similar rewards after only a week of learning the game. Consider this scenario: a chess-playing kid uses a new controller called "Quantum Ai Controls" to compete against a grandmaster in a finals match for millions of dollars. Would people really not care about the situation? The grandmaster dedicated years of hard work, blood, sweat, and tears to master their craft, only to be challenged by an amateur who has only been playing for six months, equipped with "Quantum Controls." Would anyone be bothered by this? Or think about a gold medal runner who has to run barefoot in a 100-meter "gravel & stones" race against competitors using the latest running shoe technology. Would it be acceptable simply because the barefoot runner previously won a gold medal or they've already made it to the race finals? If that runner loses the race due to the ground conditions, would the response be to just "get gud"? Does this sound extreme? This is what is happening today. Modern controls, which would have been considered extreme in the past, are now being accepted. People think it’s acceptable to see a Modern Controls player executing complex moves via a single button against Classic control players in major tournaments. But responding with “get good” and “cope” is seen as an appropriate reaction to any player who dislikes such situations, right? But hey, I'm not saying that Modern Controls and other assistive tools shouldn't exist. They have done a plethora of good by introducing newcomers to the game. However, without the elements of Relegation and Education, how can anyone consider these methods fair, even at the basic levels? Without proper education, how can developers expect players to develop a mindset suited for true learning? Can developers like Capcom still aspire to have their game recognized as the first "Olympic Video Game" title when there is acceptance of assisted controllers? Do you think the Olympic committee would endorse such disparities on a stage where all competitors should be on an equal playing field of "fairness"? Man. Competitive fighting gaming sure has changed all for the sake of "money", which is exactly what it is. Money.

@heavenlyspring.Not at al, bro.. What I said has nothing to do with winning or losing over a modern controller, shortcut or macro or ai assisted player either. I was talking about competitive fairness across the board. Funnily. Honda isn't the one to be worried about in modern controls. Ones to be worried about are zangief, lilly, and Luke. Maybe Ed also qualifies but that debatable. But let's say I did lose to a modern controls honda player, does that mean my points should be dismissed? I don't think so.
