20:25 - this is the point and reason many are so irate. At the price point the new DHP 2025 costs, I’d rather get Armani Code Parfum, or a JPG Ultra Male for that matter. We are not saying it’s a bad smell; we are saying it’s not Dior. We are also saying it’s definitely not worthy of the name. We are also saying that it’s un-avant-garde. We are also saying it’s target consumer-base is possibly h*rny teenage boys, who aren’t necessarily yet “Men”. So yeah… Dior has lost its charm, and it well may be too lost to find its way back to the prestige and respect it used to have. But then again, you’ve said I’m wrong… and perhaps you’re right on that one. Witty and clever video.
@RaffiDiranBassclef8 сағат бұрын
Thanks David, designers aren't really in the business of being avant-garde, for that i'd turn to an uber niche or an indie house where I can choose to smell like period blood (Filippo Sorcinelli's "But not today" is the name of it if you're curious) etc. I'd go to designers to make me fit in and be accepted by the general populace I encounter daily, or not offend colleagues at the office...or drop panties I guess 😆 The only international 'designer' that still maintains the highest levels of luxury & prestige is Hermes. The rest are run by the accounts department & probably management consultants. If you've seen Dior's men's fashion offerings in the last few years you would see clearly the age range they're targeting. 18-40 years old. I mean, they did a collab with those Dior Air Jordans, it was certainly not for my age bracket (i'm nearing 50). I think we may be getting hung up on things that used to be and things that are out of our locus of control. One thing I didn't mention in the video is, you know how we credit those amazing Gucci fragrances to Tom Ford when he was creative director of Gucci? Well, I've never heard anyone credit John Galliano for the Dior Homme line. We can thank Kim Jones for this current iteration of DHP as he is the creative director of the Dior Homme line now.

@@RaffiDiranBassclef thanks for this feedback. While I’d like to agree with you, I still think you’re missing my point (or maybe I am missing yours). I do insist that designer houses should be avant-garde; paving the way of new ideas for fashion, modernism and creativity. It’s not about smelling of “period blood” a la “Secretions Magnifique”, as that is not the point. It’s not for Dior to be so niche that it redefines the word niche. It’s about Dior being standout from and above all others. As you’ve well said, it’s a competition of “highest luxury and prestige”. To enable and inspire people to find their own identities and individuality, and express it through the fashion opportunities; not rehashing the same things under different names (imitation is the highest form of flattery, but we would not consider dupes or clones to be morally acceptable or correct). As for your comment about Galliano, I do favor him and Hedi over the current CD. Those were the days when Dior made a statement. The days where something like Midnight Poison could exist - a woman’s fragrance daring to be male. A Cinderella who could shine past midnight, without restrictions. THAT is the vision… not a silly “panty dropper” ad to bang whomever your heart desires. I am sorry (actually? I am not): Dior NEEDS to do better.

I haven’t watched the whole review yet, but let me just say: I have tested the 2025 out and my name for it is Dior Boy. Let me also say, I have no problem with a company releasing a youthful fragrance. It has been done many times before with great success. My problem I have with this fragrance is how derivative it is, given the prestigious brand it comes from and the price they are charging people for it. I wouldn’t even say it is on the same level as many other fragrances at Macy’s, I would say it is actually below many of those cheaper fragrances. It opens quite nicely, but the majority of the time the fragrance is projecting off of the skin, it just smells like bubblegum/pear-scented aroma chemicals that one would smell at a teenager nightclub. I’m sure it will sell well, but the amount of revenue a fragrance brings to a brand is not a variable that anyone should ever use to rate or critique a fragrance. That is the job of Dior’s financial analysts, not the job of fragrance critics like you. And if we want to talk about Dior Homme 2020 in the context of DHP 2025 (as many others have thus far), I would argue that DH 2020 is a unique composition of high quality that we have not really smelled anywhere before. The same certainly cannot be said for DHP 2025

I like this whole line from Dior except maybe the DH Sport one from a year I can't recall( I thought it was meh).. I didn't have a guttural reaction to this release like a lot of people. It smells a lot like many other Sephora-shelf new releases and LVMH is just glomming on. Not the iris but the amberwoody, sweet base that the new Dior Homme Parfum shares with most new releases since 2015 or so. It's not for me but I'm sure it's for someone and that's what it's meant to be. I've got Dior Homme Parfum in a 2014 and 2020 bottle and that's enough for the rest of my life.

Well done mate, you pretty much described the majority of fragcom in an entertaining and informative 20 min video. Now, to be honest I have not yet put my nose to the new Dior Homme Parfum and to be quite frank I'm not a fan of the main line, that is, I do not find DH, DHI or DHP to be collection worthy(good but not exceptional which is the standard for me). I do like DHC quite a bit(the 2014/2022 one) and think DH Eau to be good enough to own and far better than all the others except for DHC. I am a Chanel fan boy first and foremost(own 11 Chanels) but I do still very much enjoy and greatly respect Dior fragrances and their in house perfumers(Francois Demachy and Francis Kourkdjian, though FK has fumbled a bit in his first few years at the helm). Which is why I have really high hopes for this one, I'm hoping it is better than it's predecessor as I am trying very hard to like another Dior enough to add to my collection(currently have 4). As for how the mob tends to react to these things, it is so thoughtless and predictable by now. Mind you we've all been there when a favourite fragrance has been discontinued so in a way I understand their frustration but at the same time you need to approach each fragrance independently and give it a fair shake without all sorts of ridiculous biases and preconceptions interfering. For me it is as simple as does it smell good to my nose(about 80% of the story) what is the quality and performance like and how does it make me feel. I don't care about the brand name or any of the politics and fragcom nonsense. I'm a Chanel fan boy not for the sake of being a fan boy or the brand itself, I'm a fan simply because I love how they smell and the quality, sophistication and class their fragrances are known for.

Great video, although I don’t agree with most of it, I do like your delivery. I love the previous version of DHP. When I went to Macys to look for this new version I took a minute to also try DHS which I’ve been interested in and actually preferred it over the new DHP. I really don’t get why a superior house like Dior would make a mashup of Armani Code Parfum and Le Male. And even crazier to me is to hear videos where people accept it…same people that turn their noses up to Sauvage or Eros usually. It smells good, I prefer the previous.
@RaffiDiranBassclef8 сағат бұрын
oh don't get me wrong, I prefer the previous one too. But I'm not going to say that the new one is a terrible fragrance because that's just not true. Unless you absolutely hate that scent profile, then yeah that's fine. The issue is, that people hate the Dior but love the Armani and the Le Male which doesn't make sense. To those others who simply accept it are doing cognitive gymnastics to justify their deeply held beliefs, I don't get that either. I'm 100% with you on the 'it smells good, I prefer the previous', and will add to that with 'i'm hoping it will get better with some maturing in the bottle'

What's interesting is that many reviewers (including quite a few bigger ones) say this smells good, some say even real good, but just not as good as DHP or very much like OG DHP. Well, yeah, it doesn't smell like OF Parfum because it doesn't have three of the main notes that made it great: oud, rose, and leather. On top of that though, the iris is gone relatively quickly (strange from a supposed iris fragrance) and when that is almost gone it smells very similar to other, lesser fragrances like Code Parfum. And MAN it is sweet and pretty uninteresting in the dry down part. It's going to sell, but to me Dior is now chasing other popular frags instead of having others want to chase their new frag. It's a mass-appealing scent that will get people compliments; HOWEVER, the idea that reviewers should 'stop whining' because they don't like it as much as the OG, is ridiculous. Fragrances are subjective. Calling out their manhood cause they don't agree with your opinion, or are daring to express their disappointment, well, that may score you points with some people. Not to worry though, the other reviewers probably wont be watching this anyway so they'll never know.
@RaffiDiranBassclef14 сағат бұрын
I have no issue with reviewers addressing the fragrance but there's a big difference between a critique and whining. Only one of those is done by a man. I can understand if the whining is done in jest but seeing a fully grown adult getting emotional over a fragrance is a luxury belief that adds no value to anyone's day.

I don't think it smells like armani code parfum, that's more of a soapy iris with the code dna as the base. I get more similarities to givenchy society extreme, penhaligons mr thompson, creed delphinus and those types of creamy gourmand iris frags.
@RaffiDiranBassclef17 сағат бұрын
The iris fades pretty quick in the opening. Hoping with somemore maturation that it hangs around longer. I'm loving that mixed this smoky element in the opening, it's addictive. But it gets pretty bloody sweet in the drydown. Maybe they'll bring out an elixir or something, who knows

I didn't smelled it yet but all the fuzz around it make me wanna like it. People just follow the ytbers nowadays. JPG flankers are just sweet bombs without nothing interesting yet people are crazy over them. Le Beau line is super juvenile and boring, Le Male Elixir is just ok, Valentino Born in Roma flankers are very bad, etc.... And ytbers hype these things up. One of the best releases of 2024 was Le Sel D'Issey and there isn't on any top 5 lists. Now this came out and just because the older version is discontinued, this is just a sweet boring and repetitive scent. lol.

Could it be you can get Armani Code Parfum for pennies? Why would you pay that much for 75ml when you can get 125ml of Code Parfum for less than half? DHP 2025 is soulless and derivative. Oh, and DH 2020 is still dogshit.
@RaffiDiranBassclef14 сағат бұрын
And it's all subjective. What's good vs what's popular are rarely ever the same thing. I'd be on the other side of this argument if Dior was still owned and operated by someone from the Dior family or an artist who actually cared about the artistry and craft. But they're simply another arm of the LVMH monolith which means it's all business and that means volume sales. DH2020 is way more popular and has probably already sold more bottles than the OG. If I had to choose, I'd choose the OG all day every day because that's what I like, but I don't have to choose so I can like both, it's not a zero sum game.

What is this? With that clickbait title at least you should make some effort testing a perfume for a little longer than few moments. Instead we got some fairytale subjective story about Dior Homme from "banger" perspective. Little to nothing about DHP2025 other than first limited initial impressions... at this point you already know, contrary to what you said, an iris is very weak and shortlived with this one. Then you tried to laugh at people who compare it to prada, jpg, armani as being oblivious of the fact that Dior was first... well, except iris in DHP2025 is worse quality than previus DHP and exactly same as in much cheaper competition, that's why people compare it to prada and the likes. It's too generic not quality enough to hold DHP name that's the problem. Is new rendition going to be a hit? Don't think so not with just 75ml at 200$ for most people it's goin to be a pass especially for such generic scent they have more affordable options. The magic of Dior Homme Parfum is lost there u go that's my story for u.

I approached this one with an open mind, but I found it very bad. As a consumer that's still my prerogative. If Mercedes-Benz released a Kia-like car and called G-series, you'd try to convince your public that it will eventually become a great car in the future because you happen to like it, and tell them that all the unsatisfied customers are too capricious and should quit complaining. Nice video and development of your argumentation, though. Keep the good work. Little update: nothing wrong belonging to a minority. Everybody hates Bvlgari pour homme EDT 2024 but I keep on raving about it.
@RaffiDiranBassclef22 сағат бұрын
I love the analogy and being a bit of a closet car nut myself I'd welcome the day that Mercedes Benz releases a car that has the reliability and standard features that are not all optional extras. MB are nowhere near where they used to be whilst Kia has made massive advances. Perfume though is a more subjective thing and there is no one true answer. Just preference and perspective...i think 😄
@OmarZ779 сағат бұрын
As long as it’s not a blue shower gel-like scent, it can’t be bad when approached with an open mind. It’s okay, but not bad. And Bvlgari Pour Homme is not a hated fragrance. Not sure what you’re talking about. It’s so far from it. Haters don’t even know it exists.
