When my kids were at that age I would describe the items to them. For example: "look at the big red truck", "that is a beautiful pink rose," " here is your blue ball" "do you want orange juice in your white cup or in the yellow cup." "Look at the green tree" "that house is blue" That truly helped them develop their vocabulary and helped them grasp the information. I hope this was useful and you can put it to use. 😊

I’m in school to become an SLP. So I’ve noticed a lot of the signs I am learning about in Evi’s non verbal behavior because children should know 50-100 words in the milestone’s chart. Speech therapy is the best & he will thrive from it. & women/men need to stop addressing Autism in a negative manner. There is a large spectrum & it doesn’t mean your child is abnormal in any way.

Yes that is because obviously no parent wants to find out that your son daughter has anything wrong with them but with the right help they can strive for better And also as a parent informing yourself of autism helps a lot because right away we think it’s something so negative when it’s not Speaking as an autism mom myself I was very in denial at first because I was like oh my son understands what I’m saying he does this and that but there’s more sometimes behind while child isn’t speaking and we as mothers have to do the best for them to get the help that they need

Yeah but remember the system always expects more and more like for instance back in the days what did they expect from us at that age vrs now . like I worked in the medical field example: an over weight person now is still a skinny person the system wants you to be anorexic to fit the. BMI guidelines but of course some of us are curvy we have different body types. Is just an example that we don't have to believe everything or follow what the system wants us too. Of course at 3 if there's a concern then yes worry but at 2 like come on

But you’re not noticing the distress on the child trying to communicate. There is nothing wrong with giving your kid the push and get your child evaluated. No mom wants to hear that their kid “needs” anything . But it’s because people aren’t opened minded about getting any sort of resources for them. You don’t know the help you give your child . You don’t want your child being the only one struggling in school because you didn’t want to start earlier. I’m glad that she notices what her kid needs and I’m sure she will do the right thing. But it’s not shameful to get help. You can’t blind people from reality, kids are different but the average child should be reaching certain milestones . Everyone just needs to listen to their doctors because they do ask you these questions, so if it’s a concern for her then I’m glad she’s trying to do something about it.

Please don’t let issues go! The “every baby develops differently” causes a lot of parents to not get their child help that could really benefit them. My daughter has autism and she’s in speech. I noticed signs at 15 months & EVERYONE told me it’s normal for kids not to talk, she’ll do it eventually etc. and had I listened to them she would have been even more delayed. We started aba therpay at 2, she did speech, and OT. She’s 9 & in normal classes, she still does therapies but she’s excelling.

🙌so true. My son was non verbal and was diagnosed with autism a little before the age of 3. If I would have listened to everyone saying “it’s normal, he will talk soon” my son probably wouldn’t be excelling today. He is what you call “high functioning”. He received all the therapies you could think of and it was A LOT of work 😅 A lot of parents are in denial and don’t get their kids the early intervention services they need. I’m not saying every kid who doesn’t talk by the age of 2-3 has a neurological disorder, but it doesn’t hurt to get them evaluated just to rule out anything other than just speech delay.

Definitely put him in speech therapy. I noticed my daughter was speech delayed (expressive) and we enrolled her in speech therapy. Evi was similar to my child and she is now 7 and tested out of speech. My daughter attended at 2 years old. It’s amazing. Also, a helpful tip: expose him to vocabulary words (sight words) and words around the house. For example, label items around the house put a stick note (chair) and place it on the chair . He will begin to recognize the item and word and the more vocabulary words he know the better his development. We do this in our home and it helps.

Yes! You’re the mom you’re with him all the time idk why people think they are the first to notice shit and want to call it out like they are experts. And you obviously take him to the doctor and they always ask those types of questions. Especially because autism is so common. Not that, that’s the case here but even if it was I’m sure you and your doctor will be the first to know. My cousin literally didn’t start talking until he was 5. His parents were also worried but he’s now 15 and very smart in school. And does not have autism at all. You don’t have to explain yourself but I get why you have to put it out there. 💛

All through elementary the teachers were always like I wish he would talk and interact more when I would go to parent teacher conference. Now he’s a teenager and he won’t STFU! Lmaooo!!! Bottom line! A kid gets there when they get there.

My son just turned 6 and is in kindergarten, and we are dealing so much with his teacher. She keeps stating that he might have a disability... But his pediatrician says otherwise and that he is perfectly fine and that some kids are more verbal than others. It breaks my heart because my son is smart and I just don't understand his teacher. My son is shy and talks around those he is comfortable with. I'm just hoping next year is better for him. But thank you for your post it really made me feel better ❤️❤️❤️

Yes!! Therapy is the best thing. Don’t let people tell you wait it out because I heard the same about my son. It didn’t sit right with me so I decided to get him into therapy right at 2 and he ended up having a speech disorder. There is nothing wrong with getting him some therapy sessions! It’s worse to ignore. Early intervention in your state should provide in home sessions!!

We love your family and watching, Bri. Be happy your fans care and have pointed it out. It’s a jagged pill to swallow especially when it is your child but we as parents have to open our eyes and be real when looking at development in our child to what other children their age are doing. You’re doing a good job in asking your sons ped. Good first step. It’s not what is wrong but what is right by doing good for Evi, and getting services he needs. I have two sons of which are very different sides of the spectrum but still on the high side. The worse thing a family can do is ignore and deny the child any help and make the child suffer by saying he’s lazy, he develops slower, etc… my family stigmatized the mere thought 💭 of having a developmental disability. I recently saw another influencer whose brother I just knew was on the spectrum and yes it came out true. Also professionals and school personnel can and will discourage anything that requires them to assist getting needed services. Sometimes it’s easier to say he’s fine when he really needs some help. Don’t let this slip into the cracks, your child is most important job in your life. Remember that okay? Much love, Bri. -a mama who knows.

Speech delay is very common good for you for finding him resources that will help him. Speech therapy is great especially if it’s play based. A couple of days in day care would help also. I’m a preschool teacher and I had a child with severe speech delay and with the combo of therapy and being in class he has learned so many words. The day he finally called me teacher I almost cried.

As an early childhood educator I have worked with children from 0 to 5 and while milestones guidelines are very useful they can also be very damaging because not one size fits all with these milestones some children develop faster others develop a little bit later but that does not necessarily mean that there is a problem. Now doctors usually recommend speech therapy or early intervention as a precaution and to help a child thrive. Society has really embedded the idea that at a certain age a child Hass to be doing something or automatically it’s a red flag. You are doing an amazing job and keep moving forward. Definitely look into speech therapy and other programs but also keep doing what you are doing.

Hi Bri it is also shown that children who are bilingual take a longer time to develop speech. Their language milestone tends to differ compare to a child who is only learning 1 language. Early intervention is not only for children who are severely delay with speech it can also be for children who have trouble articulating a simple sound. I’m glad you are sharing your worries because people don’t speak about this topic, and in the US majority of the children at one point take therapy for their speech. Love you girl 💙

It's scary when your child has speech delay. My son went through speech therapy for about 9 months, that didn't really help. He was only pointing and mumbling at 3. It wasn't until he started preschool that started helping. The first day of school I didn't want to leave him and almost cried bc I told the teacher I was the only one that could understand him. Being around other kids and his teacher being amazing, he started talking so so much. He's now 3rd grade and being testing for the gifted and talented program with an advanced learning plan that will follow him through the rest of school. My mom said my brother was the same way, and he went to medical school. Evi will just be the family genius!
