@QiryuslilBerdy that's probably the most strawman argument I've yet to hear. 1.) These exorcist examples are modern, not 2000 years old. 2.) The main claim of the Gospels is that Christ was raised from the dead, which we have more evidence now then ever before. 3.) We don't "show proof" by simply pointing to the Bible. That also would be a logical fallacy of an argument from an authority. No one uses the Bible to convince people of the Bible (they shouldn't if they do). 4.) Any sort of real beration, persecution, calling "closed-minded" and irrational, comes from the Atheists today, and 5.) It's not us that torments you in Hell, it's yourself

What you wrote is simply not true. I assume you have been mislead by lying priests. There were several fully supported by the Vatican documentaries made on that topic. "The Devil and Father Amorth" by William Friedkin is a documentary about the exorcism of an Italian woman in the village of Venafro referred to as "Cristina" by this "famous" exorcist priest. There is nothing supernatural there. What is hilarious that in that "documentary" the voice of the woman has been at one point altered by the "chorus" sound effect to make it sound "demonic" (to perhaps bring the primal fear in gullible people). Only latter the same clip is used for refference in an interview and the careless editor of this fakery has used the unadulterated, original clip still with her a normal voice. There is another documentary, very factual indeed, titled "Deliver Us" or "Libera Nos" by made by an independent filmmaker Federica Di Giacomo, which offers intetesting perspective on the psychology underlying the continued practice of exorcism in the contemporary world, as more people begin to classify their anxieties as possession. You can see there poor people, essentially naive members of a catholc "cult" performing expected from them, ordinary behaviours, there is nothing supernatural, there is exactly z e r o of that .

I was shocked then by how much the worst of the worst would lie, even to themselves, about what they would do. This is quite serious and isn’t a one sentence explanation. YOU MIGHT BE IN MORE DANGER THAN YOU KNOW. I had a similarish experience with a loved one though less severe in some ways and much more focused on self destruction. It was a demon that time, and at the end, even the 30 year career psychiatrist was humbled to dust and agreed. He now prescribes medication and earthly treatment on paper and spiritual help off the books. I believe many demonic possessions and oppressions are falsely diagnosed as various mental conditions. That is not to deny the existence of organic mental conditions, just like not all foot pain needs surgery but if you only see surgeons the diagnosis will always be that you need a surgery or if you only see pharmacists you may need a surgery and get only medication. You should ideally get multiple diagnoses from several specialists right. Perhaps your mother is possessed and needs help. Perhaps she just has more worldly problems. She probably needs to see doctors and priests to actually figure out why. There are many signs for both often with significant areas of overlap. Also there are different demons that do different things. Read the Bible and you will find several descriptions of how a few different demons interact. Regardless of the cause of her actions faith and prayer are needed for her and you must give forgiveness as well. I also believe that demons look for people with gaps in the armor of God and if you have not forgiven (not forgotten) you may yourself be a target of the same demon if that is what it is. THESE THINGS CAN MOVE THROUGH FAMILIES like a contagion. Put on therefore the FULL armor of God, that then included your feet with the Gospel of peace and the sword which is the word of God both of which are found in the Bible. If reading and rereading the Bible could be a medicine that could prevent you from suffering her fate (and if it is a demon she is suffering seeing but unable to control) how many doses would you take? How many for your children? I take up my Bible every night and do whatever I can to not just wear that armor but keep it well polished. I also play old church choir music every night as we sleep, have crosses in every room, and use holy water. The Bible tells us that is an evil spirit is cast out but returns to find the house empty it will bring seven more with it. TAKE CARE my friend. And spiritual care in the end is all that really matters.
@nemoexnuqual3643 Жыл бұрын
@@Special_Tactics_Force_Unitmy friend, this is no laughing matter. Getting help is not always so easy. I was a cop at one point and there was an abused child. We responded over and over with CPS who did NOTHING! We tried so many times to help this little girl. We would park outside the home to “run radar” just trying to prevent the abuse or catch it in progress. We dreamed of hearing screams and kicking in that door and beating those parents with expanding batons until justice was served. Again and again we escorted child protective services and nothing happened. Then one day there was an ambulance call to the house, her little lifeless body had been beaten to a pulp and the parents had tried (poorly) to clean up and make it look like an accident had happened. The mother was an Registered nurse who eventually confessed that the little girl had wet her pants and so they beat her to unconsciousness and the mother as a medical professional had checked her pulse but administered no aide but rather just let her slowly die for hours. When there was no pulse she didn’t do CPR she and her husband tried to clean up and stage an accident. That was the end of my policing career. To see such evil but have my hands tied by liberal policies was more than I could bear as a Christian. Likewise I have also experienced a familiar member with a demon. Years of psychological “help” were easily obtained but all failed. It was a man of the cloth that met her and knew almost immediately, only by divine intervention did we find him, and he us. After the process of him gathering evidence and calling a specialist, years of torment care to an end in a single night. Sometimes getting help isn’t so easy

@nemoexnuqual3643 That is horrific. I'm so sorry you went through that. I'm glad you got out. That is more than anyone should have to bear. How do you function as a human being in that situation? How do you get that out of your head? It made me wonder if any of the cops quit after that. I sure hope they are getting help for the trauma it must have left them with. People who can cope with such awfulness are a special breed.

Judging by the only other reply to your comment, I'd say that the demon was successful in that.

Explain to us what possibly is "better" about receiving in the hand instead of centuries on the tongue? What is "better" about standing than kneeling before the presence of the Lord? Why even make these changes? For what? Dismantle and change around almost every Church in the world? Huh? Just curious. Dumb me.
@jendoe9436 Жыл бұрын
Why would one believe the word of a demon? As Father Martins often mentions, demons are legalistic and anyone with a passing familiarity with matters of law and other legal matters (including financial and accounting) knows how one can twist words and meanings to make their case. If a demon mentions how removing communion rails and kneelers is bad, one should immediately ask why in the heck they would say anything like that and what’s their motive. Was the demon even being serious or was it said in sarcasm? Was it actually a truth or something they manipulated to sound good to overly righteous ears? The damage of removing things like communion rails and kneelers may be bad for overly scrupulous people, who are constantly anxious about their state and the demons see an opening to drive them away from the Church. For those who reverently partake and consume communion, there is no damage done to them as they trust in Jesus and his Church who guides the faithful. All to say, demons are sleazy legalists who know how to use their words to manipulate people.

On the question “would you want a video of YOUR possession to be publicly broadcast?” My answer is yes, of course I would. Why would I not? It would be video footage of a real supernatural event, which is incredibly rare if any even exist at all. It could potentially convert millions depending on the contents of it. I don’t really know why anyone would care either way, it’s not like it would be likely to have much of a negative impact on my day to day life. If it’s not convincing then only a small number of people will see it or care, and regardless having a video out there of me being exorcised doesn’t mean people are going to have my address or SSN or anything like that. Any inconvenience it might cause me would likely be worth it to have solid video proof of the existence of the supernatural, and even if people did recognize me in the video it’s not like I’m doing anything bad or worthy of canceling me or negatively affecting my reputation right? And even with all of this, at the end of the day you could always blur the faces, Copy the blurred version, and delete the original. That being said, Im sure the church has a good reason for this rule, I just wish I knew what it was. Protecting the identity of the possessed is not a valid reason obviously, since making a video would not require any identifying information of the victim to be made public, faces can be blurred, etc.. I see so many interview videos with exorcists where they are asked this question and their answer is always that it’s to protect the identity, and then the interviewer is always just like “oh okay” and then drop it. I REALLY, really wish just once one of these interviewers would ask followup questions and press a bit more until they reach the actual reason for the rule

@Charlotte_Martel Жыл бұрын
The "possessed" identity could be easily hidden with modern technology. If the evidence is 1/10th of what is claimed, it wouldn't convince everyone but millions would undoubtedly convert. The only logical reason for not filming this is because the priests realise that the reality doesn't come close to the claims. If Protestant exorcisms are similar (besides the rituals of course), the afflicted simply growl and speak in a deeper yet naturally achievable voice. Nothing supernatural occurs.

I don't entirely agree, the CBC Germany launched an investigation into this, I can't find the source right now, but there have been reports of findings of epilepsy and/or mental illness. An exorcism should only be done at a very last resort after all other natural/biological avenues have been exhausted thoroughly. I do agree it's easy for us to sit here now and give opinions after the fact. On the other hand, we can't be too complacent or afraid of deliverance. Either of these extremes would benefit the kingdom of darkness. We need a balance that ministers to the whole person.

Well, they can't ask the possessed while they are possessed whether they want it recorded. A middle ground would be for people to consent to it prior, but people don't often think to write a legal document giving permission just in the off chance they get possessed. Also, there would be a lot of scrutiny over the legitimacy of someone's mental state, claim of sanity, intentions, etc in even contemplating writing such a document. With intentions, it's the kind of thing someone planning to fake possession would do, for instance. So, I can see the concern.

Is there a consistent way in which non-Catholics can consistently and effectively measure demon possession, the effects of possession, and/or the success of exorcisms? I'm sure Catholics would agree that several other religions and cultures are rife with convincing-looking false faith-healings, false demon exorcisms, and other scams. What is the tool we are using to seperate real exorcists from false ones both inside and outside of the church if not (at minimum) allowing professional outside scrutiny?
@justaguy328 Жыл бұрын
It's a good question brother, and i'm happy to help out a bit. There is professional outside scrutiny. The church even states that 99% of cases aren't demonic possession. And the church requires that people get professional medical as well as psychological checks by secular doctors before an exorcism is performed. They want to make sure that all other possibilities are accounted for, because the vast majority of the time it's not demonic possession. Behind your question, I sense a little bit of 'scientism'. Seems you think that in the case of demonic possession, science should be the arbiter of truth, but that's where the mistake lies, and I don't mean that to sound condescending at all, so please don't take it that way. I mean it sincerely with respect. You have to keep in mind that these are beings with will and volition, and are not inanimate forces like a sickness, so you can't put them under a microscope and demand that they perform for you. And even if they did, and we had video and medical proof beyond a shadow of a doubt, in a few generations they would be saying that it's not real, and they would point to the fact that CGI existed today so it's most likely CGI, or that we used primitive medical technology so we can't be trusted, and they would bring up the fact that medical malpractice is the third leading cause of death so the medical field cannot be trusted. You are mistaken in believing that non-belief is a head problem, when really it's a heart problem, and that if there was only in your face evidence people would believe and everything would be great, but that's just not the case. Non-belief is a heart problem. Screw exorcism evidence, Jesus could appear in the sky tonight for the entire world to see and I guarantee you there would be youtube videos and articles talking about project blue beam, or some other government or religious conspiracy to trick the world, and people would be making fun of Christians for believing that God actually revealed himself to the world. Finally, it's important to remember that Jesus actually walked the earth in a very 'primitive' time period, performed awe-inspiring miracles, died and rose from the dead according to prophecy and people, and in that 'primitive' time period still didn't believe. Since technology becomes obsolete very quickly, what you regard as evidence today, will be dismissed in a few generations. Why come today? Why not come in another 1000 years when technology is even better? Why not 2000 years from now, when it's even better? You see how that doesn't work? It was the wisdom of God to come at a primitive time period, to show that even in a very primitive time, all of these incredible miracles could be performed and still people would not believe. And this shows that they weren't just primitive superstitious people that would believe anything. It shows that it's not a lack of evidence or technology or scientific knowledge that keeps people from believing. Not only did they not believe, but they killed him. Non-belief is not about "we just need more proof". The "more proof" claim is made by people who know that there is no proof possible that would convince them, and it's simply because they don't want there to be a God. As a former atheist, when I cut through all the BS excuses I made up, I remember being a young kid and walking with my mom and thinking to myself, "boy it would be so nice if God didn't exist then I could do whatever I wanted". Then I found reasons not to believe. It's a heart problem, not a head problem. If Jesus himself walking the earth doesn't do it, nothing will.
