@@NocSlays thats kind of how the game works bud, if you think about the killer and survivor TEAM being balance with every game being a 2k,. you still have a 50/50 of dying. even when your team wins you will die about 17% of the time (averaging a perfect mix of 4out and 3out), when you lose you die 75% to 100% of the time. with BHVRs ideal world of 60% kill rate you will only make it out 40% of the time. Personal escapes are a sily metric to play for if you don't consider how many of your team made it out, and makes you a very selfish player.

I had a match this morning against a Wraith, and one of my teammates, not in a swf btw, brought an Eyrie offering. Killer almost immediately DCed during the LOADING SCREEN. Not even in the match yet, but he saw Eyrie and just 'noped' out of the game.

My additional small nitpicks with Eyrie: The collision on some tiles can get you stuck. The small bushes are really annoying for ranged Killers/Billy/Bubba (and in general). The floor made of sand meaning survivors have close to no footstep sound. Most Eyrie filler pallets have little mindgame potential because you can see the Killer at all times. Why does the main building have breakable walls that the Killer HAS to break. Most Totem spots are absolutely awful on Eyrie (unless youre survivor and run a Boon perk, then theyre super hidden) The random ink particles that you can easily mistake for a crow flying up in the distance, or even a survivor moving in your peripherie. And in addition to that: THEY MAKE SOUNDS! Why do they have to make a quiet sound that sometimes makes you think a survivor breathed or a footstep or something nearby. I hate Eyrie

@ fair, but I’m looking at this from the perspective of being a Dracula player. I can’t see blood in my bat form, just scratch marks, so sound is the most important. Footsteps are your primary tracking method in bat form. The sand REALLY messes with me in this case, hence iron will making this more of an issue.

It'll always be crazy to me how the biggest issue with this game, since LAUNCH, has always been the maps. From infinites to unplayable fences, to the entirety of The Game, to the devs designing killers without every map in mind. (god why can I still queue into Hawkins as Singularity) There's maps that are nearly perfectly designed like Sanctum of Wrath, and then you have maps the developers seem to literally not be able to design correctly like Haddonfield.

It's weird because maps like Sanctum show the devs clearly know how to balance maps, they just don't stick to that formula with other maps and you have ridiculous edge cases like Hawkins, Meat Plant, Eyrie, or Disturbed Ward. Plus there are maps like Swamp which are still begging for their reworks. Seriously try cleansing all 5 totems on any Swamp realm without a map, you will go insane in a single game.

All u have to do is look at the sheer amount of loops on the map in close proximity on both sides of the map! Any survivor bot with even basic loop knowledge can give a killer a hard time. Especially an m1 killer!

Generally When It Comes To Judging Map Strength, It Boils Down To 4 Factors: 1. Overall Tile Strength And Number Of Tiles 2. Map Size 3. How Well The Tiles Connect To One Another 4. Number Of Line Of Sight Blockers. The Fourth One Largely Depends On The Killer You Are Playing. If You Are Playing Huntress, Then You Would Want Clear Sight Lines So Your Hatchets Are Harder To Avoid. If You Are Playing Ghostface, Then You'd Want The Opposite So That You Have More Places To Hide.

Coldwind is now more of a 50/50. Throughout most of DBDs history Coldwind has hard favored survivors, and cowshed was the most survivor sided map for a while. Now it’s generally a coin flip on if a maps layout favors killer or survivor- though even if there are dead zones the positive is that at least the tiles that do spawn on Coldwind are usually pretty good. Like long walls, jungle gyms and some really good survivor sided loops that are unique to Coldwind maps.

I genuinely don't understand why they don't reverse the effect of the offerings - instead of making a map guaranteed, make it practically impossible to get if that offering is used. Keeps offerings relevant but rather than bring you to a map that's awful for one side or the other, just make one map/realm not appear. Only problem I can see with this is 4 survivors bringing map offerings to prevent multiple realms but even then that's still better than guaranteeing a great map for them

@@SophiaBadger These two are not even comparable. Ward = "Don't get sent to a map offering, can still land there because RNG" vs "Use an offering to strike out a map". So as a killer you could use Eyrie or Badham offerings to avoid those, and as a Survivor you can use the ones for maps you don't like, amplified by 4 in a full SWF to strike out 4 maps. Stop being disingenious and just say you want to keep sending killers to Eyrie.

@@Allskil88 I’ve only ever really played killer man. I’m more partial to wards because then I can still play a map I like on random chance. If sacrificial wards let you choose a specific realm then I feel like some maps would just always be greyed no matter what. Because one of the four survivors no matter what is probably going to block midwhich or something. It doesn’t seem that useful for killers either cause they can only block one map, when there are probably 5 or 6 realms that generally favor survivor. I’m personally fine with leaving it all to random chance, that seems (mostly) fair to me. Your statement is kinda funny too considering one of the matches I played the other day with my brother I got sent to realms 3/5 of my matches. And one of them was Eiyre. Neither of us really play much anymore but it was funny to see people still love their map offerings so much.

Gameplay was added later to show the map as he went around it. (We see chases with Pig, Trapper, Wraith, Slinger...etc) He was probably waiting in the lobby as Knight, it's one of his idle sounds.

Reminder that the rework that the map received was purely a layout & shape rework, making it not as obnoxiously long (insane pre-running and gen-split). The total size is only slightly smaller, the tile connection is still crazy, annoying stuff like bad hooks & collisions are still there and of course the loops are exactly the same which were and are one of the core issues of the map. There was one new loop (a landmark) that while being weak, it shared spawn location with what was a guaranteed deadzone (the fountain landmark) and nowadays I believe it has completely replaced it so even this weak loop is somehow making the map stronger.

As a survivor that is not so super comfortable at chase, I also don't like Eyrie. I got used to it since so many teammates bring you there, but I prefer less "visible" maps. In the meaning of: I am good at calculating what is within the killers los and what is not. So I often run iron will and get away from a short or decent chase without getting downed. But on Eyrie... the killer can see you from a mile away.

I've been struggling badly with killer recently. I might just suck (3k hours) but eyrie seems to keep getting the better of me. The reason it is so easy for survivor is because the map is so damn easy to play. Every single loop is just so easy, even terrible survivors can last up to a minute in chase because every pallet is pre-droppable and the killer is almost always forced to break all of them.

My first time playing this map was with huntress....everything absolutely EVERYTHING had a hit box and sometimes the hotboxes on certain plants were double the size,who knew a small dead twig plant had a hit box above it as well Or the fact that I couldn't even see them until my hatchet hit them

Important to note that Eyrie is a singular map in it's realm. When survivors use an offering, they are guarenteed to go to this map. As opposed to a map like Garden of Joy which shares it's offering with the movie theather map.

Yep, the funniest thing was hearing survs use excuses such as liking the "aesthetics". Then Eyrie got nerfed and the offerings suddenly dried up (aesthetics, clearly). I love how people keep complaining like the win rate for killers is not more than 60%. I have played the game since 2017, and I still believe the game was more fun back then. The game now is just a shell of the fun it was. Jimmy the map offering nurse: But the game back then had bugs and was survivor sided and you had infinites and I didn't have 2 million gen perks. Me: So? It was more fun because even if in that broken state you would get people playing different killers with different builds. If the devs fixed the survivor perks back then the game would have been balanced IMO. I took a break multiple times from this game because it has become a boring shell of what it was and more frustrating. Killers are using VPNs to get an advantage (at least back then you could dodge a lobby because you would see the ping ALL THE TIME), most killers are sweating their asses off in every lobby, you get a team made up of new players with 2 hrs. Oh, and god forbid you play with friends and have fun with head on, not even trying to win, because you get bled out on the ground. I get tunneled out 80% of the games I play to win just because I'm good at the game (could be better), the other 20% the killer leaves me for someone he can kill in 10 seconds. Mr Otzdarva you may have played the game a lot and you may think that "balance" is important, but right now balance gave us this: Sweats, boring killers, op killers more then 100 perks that most people don't use, maps that many hate and maps that many ONLY play (had a killer afk just because I used a sacrificial ward), swf that sweat like there is no tomorrow, etc. This is Ouroboros. I think this is all I have to say. You can disagree with me, you can take my side; I don't care. Thank you for reading my rant on the game.

@@NoodlesCubed I play 60% killer and I think the very killer-sided maps are worse than the very survivor-sided ones. Haddonfield, forgotten ruins, and midwich are a nightmare for survivors. When i'm a killer on eyrie/garden/badham, I still win most of the time, and when I don't it's more of a skill issue than a map issue.

@@cassidy8307 Your anecdotal experience does not override raw data. Most deadly map has a 63% kill rate which is 3% higher than intended. The least deadly map has a 46.9% kill rate which is 10% lower than intended. You don't know what you're talking about.

I feel like another huge issue with main building is since it's very open, there's nothing the killer can even do to mind game or try to end the chase quicker. At least with other tiles, certain killers can shut down the loop. Not with main as it's just hold W Another issue is the gen spread, there's absolutely no way any killer without mobility can defend the gens if they're a little unlucky

@MightyJabroni Haddonfield with it's possible 5 gen due to how small it is. Or the Coldwind Farm versions that can spawn with 7 Pallets total of which half are trash pallets (you know the ones that basically look like an i if looked from above that spawn in the middle of the fields) or I have gotten TL wall only versions too. Unbalanced maps suck. I want Eyrie to be reworked again. But I also want Haddonfield and Coldwind to be reworked again. Also... screw swamp on both sides. Just a bad map in general.

@ That's nonsense. As if all maps and all killers would gel equally. Versing a Huntress on Gideon is not the same as versing a Doctor or Dracula on this map.

@MightyJabroni counterpoint: Haddonfield with it's tiny map. This is easy mode for every killer. The gens are so tight even non mobility killers can easily camp them. The map is open enough for Huntress and friends while also having very few viable pallets. The only way you loose on there is if you commit to bad chases on purpouse with an m1 killer. I play killer myself - I have yet to lose a single time on there. I'm not saying make it Surv sided again - I'm saying to make it balanced. Like Autohaven or Mcmillan. I already said in another comment that I find half the coldwind variants bs as well. Half of them are still good for Surv while the other half can spawn with almost no pallets at all leading to the most onesided matches ever.

I remember I played ghost face on mcmillan map and when I was chasing the survivor in the double window loop i blocked one window with bamboozle... Turns out next to it was another double window loop. It was a time ago and not sure if it can still happen.

I hate Grim Pantry a little more than this map. The main building is insanely strong for survivors. Elevation makes it hard to use certain killer powers, and don't forget the pog log which is right next to shack.

Agreed, I think eyrie is a much stronger survivor map because grim pantry isn't quite as safe overall with more deadzones, but grim pantry is just incredibly boring to play on, your best strategy as killer is basically to just ignore the main building and never go there when survivors run you to it, which they do all the time because it's such a strong tile. Not to ignore the pier as well, where survivors can just sit on the end until they see you climb up the opposite side and then jump down and run to main, if a gen spawns there good luck defending it

I just did a killer speedrun with plague, around 2 minutes .. but I forgot to setup my record software. And on the other hand, I loop most killers long with main building windows. Sooo ... it depends again on the player (:

Main reasons: 1. Map big. 2. Map has big, superfluous second story area with no generators in it used exclusively for Survivor benefit. 3. Exit gates always across the entire map from eachother with main building in the way. 4. Map bright, killer cannot hide. Other than that, its a pretty solid map.

Ngl but I'm fine with Eyrie being survivor sided. Too many maps now are filled with a pathetic number of pallets or absolutely awful pallets that no killer has any incentive to break. And the kill rates show this with an average above what the devs want. Sending a killer to Eyrie is the killer equivalent of sending survivors to Midwich, Nostromo, Dead Dawg, Lery's, Swamp or Haddonfield. Let survivors have Ormond and Eyrie I say

I think map offerings also contribute to why survivors dc so much. When they burn a strong map offering there is this expectation sometimes that they will dunk on the killer for an easy win. When these types of players plan fails they just dc or go next on the hook. It’s really annoying and I’m not even a good killer. When it happens I lose interest in continuing to play the game.
