Today we will discuss why it is always better to buy new and used cars only after facelift. Car manufacturers change up to 20% of cars components in the first year of production, and they basically test everything on customers. Cars are getting more and more reliable with each year of production.

Agree, and if you can't afford the facelifted version of a car, even 1 or 2 model years after the launch year would be better!

This is probably true for most cars, never thought about it

well put! ideally, the later versions are more attractive to me for such reasons as ironing out the bugs with time however i see the arguments for the other side plus i'm kind of having a dilemma with another reason. for people who can afford brand new models ('the other side'), they have the new car warranty to offset the risks, although the number of recalls and amount of potential downtime could get quite annoying for them in the form of dealership visits. at the same time, the dealers would probably bend over backwards for them with loan cars, coffee, back-scrathing and possible compensation (?) etc. They also get to enjoy the prestige of being 'one of the first', which many of them may like. I've also heard of collectors preferring the first iterations of vehicles because 'it's what the designers and engineers originally wanted' (even if the model was subsequently 'improved upon'. and I kind of get this in a way. for instance, i like the original rear lights on the porsche 928. and there are numerous examples of this. but more recently, i've been looking at the suzuki ignis. I would like all the benefits that time has brought it and I do dig the external aesthetic change philosophy, but at the same time, it's quite a simple and reliable car to begin with PLUS the interior suddenly became very conservative and drab. mostly black, possibly to inject a bit of prestige and normalcy about it, in contrast to the 'fun', 'novelty' interior design it previously had, where the door handles could be optioned in a variety of colours and there was a decent amount of ivory/cream/light tan (which I've always preferred over all-black, even if it was a 50-50 compromise. so, while a facelift can indicate a landmark moment in overall improvement and at the same time, can be used to change the image of a given model (eg. fun to serious and tacky to mature in the ignis example), it can also serve to reduce production costs and remove some of the bells and whistles that were introduced to launch the car successfully. by this stage, production has been streamlined and forecasts have become more accurate. margins of error and including fiscal contingency have been curbed dramatically. as a result, some of its quirkier but more prized selling features (for some) may meet the chopping block. with the later generation ignis, a couple of the more exciting colours are no longer available and there is no longer the option for a two-tone scheme (with a black or white roof). i must say that all of this applies only to my local market, where mild hybrid and AWD versions were also never available. I could still go either way with the choice of model, however my latest line of thinking is to choose the latest model year prior to the facelift. certain makes and models may offer something in a facelifted version that is simply too good to refuse and worth every cent extra, plus people are still essentially getting 'the first' of that given generation (or '.5' generation). the benefit of being in the used market is hindsight and as long as the facelifted version is still within one's budget, the buyer has options open to them. sometimes sellers of the very first iteration of a vehicle will specify that all fixes have been applied, and additionally, they will also mention fixes that weren't covered by recall notices but to common issues that have been established amongst owners in forums, etc. another great topic! keep it up :)

As for new car buyers warranty doesn’t solve all your problems when you can’t use your car, and it is annoying. Classic buyers is another thing, if we talk about really vintage cars they are not vehicles any more, so reliability is not the case
