I can confirm that Shorts videos have affected the long videos. I uploaded two exactly same videos on KZbin a few days ago, one was Shorts and other one was a long video (same duration, different aspect ratios). And today, the Shorts got 1.3K views while the Long one did not even get 13.

I was a pro level fan of facttechz 5 years ago. He used to make videos related to subconscious mind, motivation and had unique content. I didn't have my phone and would literally get 10 minutes to use my mother's phone. I would watch his videos. In my classroom, students used to watch his videos, too. And then he started making top enigmatic fact videos. I wanted his videos like before but he didn't make such videos anymore. For like 4-5 months I watched all his videos till he had 11 million subscribers but then left. His old videos and voice and editing are epic ❤️❤️

There is serious algorithm changes done on KZbin after 2022. Not the issue with the creator. KZbin sabotaged many many old channels over 2-3 million subscribers from 2022. Impact is getting worse on 2023 and 2024. KZbin makes you, KZbin breaks you. - from KZbinr of 14 years of experience.

There was a tim when fact techz was the best fact Chanel but what I think that caused his fall is the new types of fact videos he made (the ones where he tells us 30-40 facts in one video). The thing which made his videos good was the way he covered a single topic in one video but after his face reveal those kinda videos kind of vanished. And yes, I agree with you in the point of thumbnail and all too. Overall if fact techz (gradually) changes his way of making videos, there's a huge chance that he'll gain his popularity back. (My opinion doesn't matter anyways)

Every creator has and should has up and down. It is not possible, in reality, to grow or maintain same or above level, all the time. In starting he had lots of facts that fascinated public. But now those facts are less than past. So he has to combat with shortage of facts. But yes he can maintain his level to some extent by giving only one fact in his one video with full explanation, rather than giving many facts with little explanation. It will maintain his viewership also and he will have less fear of having less facts in future. This is the main reason. Editing and thumbnails are less matter for old subscribers. They prefer info and entertainment. To gain new subscribers, one can focus more on editing and thumbnails but it will not work on longer. As many channels have great editing and thumbnails, but they failed to get huge audience. Shorts is the also main reason to fail long videos. Today people like to watch 20-50 reels daily instead of 3 hours movie. So it impacts. But in long run Long Videos always be preferred.
