I did a 40 day fast on just water. My doctor told me to go home and get my affairs in order.I told my doctor to make a appointment for me for a moth away and I will be back the doctor told me they will never see me again. I went home the next morning during prayer God told me to do a fast for a 40 I felt so good I went to 43 days and went to see my doctor she gave me a big hug and the nurse gave me a hug as well. If you've been fasting for some time i commend you do a 3day dry fasting. It works miraculous. All along i fasted partial from 06 to 18hrs. Until one day i decided to do an absolute 3day Esther fasting. I started on christmas eve and break on 26 at 18hrs. I slept that night and dreamt i killed a snake, when i woke up the following day in the evening i saw a snake crawling on my door step and i killed it. Thats how my visions started ever since, im a living testimony. But when you fast dont go with wrong motives, just because my visions started that way does not mean you'll also experience the same, God reward according to your faith in prayers. My testimony is , for 9 years I have been praying to God but he never answered my prayers, I fasted for 7 days , 21 days but nothing, until last week I decided to do a 3 days prayer and fasting, fasting for 3 days and night, no water , food , social media, tv and other pleasures . I’m starting my fast tomorrow I was on a forced fast two years ago when I was fighting a drug addiction I couldn’t eat for 7 days.. one evening I took my daughter to the park and she was playing with another little girl. I looked down and looked up and they were gone. I went crazy for a second the sun was staring to go down , and I noticed a movement. I ran towards them and the little girl wasn’t a little girl but more like a small woman dressed like a little girl and was in dirty clothing. She looked like the ducking devil. Man I’m crying as I write this. I was slacking as a parent at the time I would always leave my daughter with her grandmas while I would go out and party. God really opened my eyes and I’ve done better ever since I don’t let my daughter out of my sight. Went to church today for the first time in a while really want to get my life right man I’m struggling so much In life I lost both of my jobs me and my daughter are living with my mom because the house I was renting roof caved in a year ago. I maybe have 4 dollars to my name and have no idea where my next buck is gonna come from god please help me!

I thought the Lord was dealing with me about fasting 40 days. I kept seeing the number. Was home one day and thinking about it, and talking to the Lord, and saw a book behind my couch. It was open so i put my thumb under it when i picked it up. At the same time i said Lord, if you approve and want me to fast, please let me know. I turned the book over to see WHEN, NOT IF. It was a chapter in a book. I closed my eyes and the book and prayed and said Lord when? With my eyes closed i opened the book and stuck myfinger, at a venture, on the page. I opened my eyes to see where my finger was. It was on another chapter title called THE TIME IS NOW. The hair on my arms stood up. Have had a lot of miracles since that day.

I strongly recommend you attempt a first fast if you're here thinking you're being called to it. I recently did a long term fast(40 days). I truly believe people think they can't do things because they have never tried. Obviously do make sure you're in decent shape and start with a 24 hour and then go to 2-3 days after getting comfortable at 24s. Once you make it to 3 days start to challenge your self and ask God to carry you through. I find at day 3 into 4 I hit full blown ketosis and once your body is not trying to do both I feel amazing, incredible mental clarity, high energy and an unexplainable communication with God. But those first 3 days can be brutal. Of course don't go running head first into a double digit fast. Keep healthy and remember to pray. ❤

I’ll be honest it took many days for me to come to the realization that God was having me in a fast. I was deep in prayer when I went to the grocery store and let the Holy Spirit guide me on what foods to buy and when to eat. I went weeks on minimal caloric intake but never lost strength. Both times I’ve fasted I got sick … not sure what I’m doing wrong. The first time I got severely dehydrated and had to break my fast on the second day so 48 hrs in. The 2nd fast I caught a really bad throat infection and had to stop my fast after 24hrs. Although I did notice for my first fast that my vision cleared up. I wear glasses but that morning I forgot to put them on and noticed my vision was so clear. I usually need them for everything because from a distance things look very blurry but that morning on day 2 I could see the trees outside my window which are a few hundred feet away! It was amazing being able to see again without my glasses. This video has taught me a few things though.. I’ll be trying again taking these tips in mind from the video.

Very good explanation of why we should fast. The part of the verse that says "and your heavenly Father will reward you" is a great incentive. We often look at spiritual exercises as a burden, but if we look deeper we always find there is a reward for such discipleship.

It is always so difficult for me. I have to really pray hard because I take medication and not sure I can take them so I always end up doing only half days and I feel they are not always effective. Try a juice, smoothie, or bone broth fast to start. Having a little salt helps get past the hunger feeling. Do you fast before bloodwork with your doctor?

I totally disagree with some of the other comments. I do not tell anyone that I am fasting. People will comment and lift you up and it is easy to get proud, and your fast will be worthless. Their praise is all the reward that you will ever receive. Jesus specifically warns against this.

I made the mistake of telling my pastor that I fast and he makes a mockery of me every Sunday saying that Jesus did not tell us to fast but told the desciples only to fast...He gets on my nerves besides reading the word to say the least..I pray for him though that he may take heed to all the word and letters of the bible that we have been left with as a guide and reverence tool in Jesus name❤
