Neil deGrasse Tyson speaks excellent English, so I am mystified why there is a need to type his words over the images. His erudition and enunciation speak eloquently enough. And the Closed Captioning appears to work adequately enough also. The key to living is the desire to keep learning. But how does this account for all the ignorance in this world where so many stop thinking for themselves and simply settle for lies and conspiracy theories? Anyway, thank you for sharing this intelligent and articulate message from a very beautiful man.

Thank you for watching my video and sharing your feedback. The captions were added in the middle to assist non-native English speakers. However, I understand your point about Neil deGrasse Tyson's eloquence. The captions were auto-generated, and I didn't check them thoroughly, but I will make sure to improve in the future. As a non-native English speaker, I have my limitations in correcting captions, particularly with Tyson's vast vocabulary. Nevertheless, what's important is that the video reaches people and helps them. Thank you again for your kind words about the video.

💙👏 yes we have kinship with the cosmos and all other types of life forms. The reason we die is because if we don't we'll never learn. We always thought we've learned enough but life as human is about learning. Apart from chemistry, there is something called information +/= intelligence = memory + consciousness. When an infant is born he/she is the seed that stores information and memories from the past lives but because the brain needs to grow up in order for these information and memories to be able to process hence the infant is learning new things, learning more as he/she grows up. Some people are more intelligent, some are less intelligent, some are especially good or talented in certain things, it's the memories from our past lives. If we give importance to learning more in all our life times, collected enough intelligence, that's when we stop reincarnating and become one of the Gods/Immortals.

Well said. It is way much easier to say than to actually do, but I personally try to give it my best. We went to the moon not because it was easy, but because it was hard (J.F.K.). Goes only to show that when humans have a common goal and stick together, though the good and especially the bad, we will advance. Hmm, Climate change, WARS, poverty... To learn something new is not easy, but with time and effort everyone can and will accomplish something good. Though when there is a lot of hard in the way of a goal, and you perciste, that is where you will shine the most! Not that there is a competition, but by doing so, you are setting in motion a good example for others to follow. Once you do start something new it brings other new stuff and without even knowing it, you're on a roll!! I retired in june 2020 (yeah covid it sucked!), I started mycology and was utterly overwhelmed by all the information I had to acquire before I could safely eat one mushroom. So, field guide mushroom books were my first books, then some about trees. Because you won't find X kind of shrooms in Y kind of forest. Not to mention payed guides to show and tell and the multitudes of FREE youtube videos! Where everyday people get to share their knowledge. ( disclaimer: due diligence, this would be one of the hard parts, where you make more research to verify claims with credible sources! ). Even that is the tip of my mushroom iceberg, I then branched off in the medicinal side, then branched off into nutrition, cooking... It simply won't stop!! For me personally, this is also true for cooking, photography, woodworking, skiing, hiking, fishing , camping, philosophy, reading, astronomy... Would I do it for free ? Ofcourse, I find joy in sharing my passions to others. I call it a positive feedback loop. By showing/teaching something to someone, that person might show me something else in return, simply by interacting together in a positive way. SoOo, ( pronounced only whe way Neil says it! ) Thank you Neil deGrasse Tyson, for your input to humanity. ( I also read your books so keep on publishing! ) From a random human that is in tune with your thoughts. Oh by the way, If you or anyone starts Rationalia, you have my vote! Just for fun; you should make a tally. I wouldn't be surprised of the humungus votes you would get... Tony.

HEY NEIL! I need help with my new years resolution. I've figured out how to change the stars by stopping hurricanes. My idea for changing the stars includes Orion and Pleiades (Subaru). I figure it's time to put something up there that's relevant to us, don't you think? Take Orion's belt and Betelgeuse becomes the head with a baseball hat. Below the belt are two legs bending at the knee. The feet aligning perfectly under the bent knees. The 3 stars of Orion's belt align perfectly as the 3 fat belt loops on a baseball uniform. The spear pointing at "Subaru" is the bat being swung and "Pleiades" is the baseball flying away after being hit. Put it all together and you get, "THE ALL-STAR." In my case I drew a 7 on the jersey to make him, "Mickey," but you can put any number you want. I've figured out how to change the stars by stopping hurricanes. Don't worry, I've technically already done the easy part and changed the stars. My parents were teachers and for over 3 decades, they taught their students my constellation. Those kids will teach their kids. So on and so on. See, stars changed. I just need help to make it legit and with the rest. No, I'm not kidding. Yes, I'm serious. I get 7 things. One of them being to change the stars. Figured Neil has taken on the IAU and won, he can help. If, rather when, my idea for stopping hurricanes works it could be converted to a larger scale and EASILY regulate temperature, end drought, stop wildfires. Let me know if you're interested, please and thank you. It'd be wrong of me to not, at least, try. This is me, trying. Neil, will you please reach out to me and let me know that your interested. Don't worry, where I come from, crazy is a compliment. ;-P

The one thing I disagree with is believing that just because we as we are now have trouble finding motivation to live without the constant reminder of death, means that we won't ever get past that. I agree that it seems we're biologically wired to be motivated in the face of certain death, but I think if we truly had thousands of years to live we simply will find new ways to motivate ourselves, new life styles and mindsets. Think of the knowledge that you can acquire in that long life span, you can't realistically be a total polymath nowadays, knowledge is becoming too complex and detailed, a single human life time is too short to go deep in too many directions, but with 1000s of years to work with? Imagine where we would be as a specie if great minds like Einstein or Newton had just a few more hundred years, can you imagine them working in the same era despite being born hundreds of years apart? We toil away for some +40 years sharpening our minds and advancing our personal knowledge, only to die a few decades later, such a waste. But then there's the idea that people tend to stagnate as they get comfortable in their existing knowledge or power, at that point it's better when they're replaced by newer generations that have fresh ideas.... Just one of our many existential crises I guess..

That is our natural human condition as shown by eons of pre-Marxist communism, where one was given the highest position in the tribe for the best production of "victory for its humanity." That communist economy was since overturned after the agricultural revolution with slave, peasant, and finally capitalist economies, where the highest positions are now attained by those who hold the most capital made in waging the alienated proletariat against their own interests.
