Ff7 is easy enough to just level grind and hit attack to beat every boss. It's also extremely fun to do low level runs taking advantage of hidden effects in weapons like tifas power soul and double growth weapons. If you keep 3 fires on double growth as soon as you have access to red 13s magic comb in fort condor, you can have 3 fire3s by the time you get access to MP turbo. Pair 3 fire 3s to mo turbo, mp absorb, and all and you can clear the screen for like 4k damage on every enemy and get most of the MP back on disc 1. This is the deepest and most flexible game ever made and most people don't even know.

I am actually mad that the Materia system wasn't used somewhere else. The idea of putting magic gems together for different effects is so simple yet great. Just fire + added element so your melee dude doesn't cast fire spells, but hits with fire. I tried adding it to my DnD games but nobody cares. Okay, it was funny to put a Gem of Fireball, a Gem of React to movement and an Upcast level 8 gem onto a lever and the players pulled it.

Trails is the closest ive seen a game get to the greatness of the material system. Trails in the sky and trails to zero and trails to azure are better than later games. I love the ff7 remake and rebirth, but the materia system isnt nearly as robust or fun as og. The combat is still great, but the og materia had some amazingly fun combos.

Anyone who says that the Materia system is broken is obviously delusional. It's the best system that Final Fantasy is ever created, and it has been their Eternal bane that they have never returned to it properly.

If Materia combinations don't make it into the remake, the current development team is not worthy. They might as well scrap the project.

I played the original right after rebirth and I can safely say that the originals progression from mid to late game is flawless, like I completely forgot you can link summons to add/status combinations and the megall materia at the end can let you have a lot of fun, although Rebirth has some interesting combinations of it's own it cannot be compared to the original, hopefully in the third part they really let you do a lot more.

Honestly, except for the Crystal Chronicles stuff (My Life as a King for Wii), I've only played 13. And rage-quit at disc 3 because I screwed myself over from beating the game. By avoiding all enemies and only winning boss fights by weird technicalities. So my levels were so bad. So bad. So uhh... My Life as a King. To answer the question. xD

Of the ones I have played, my favorite is between IX or X. I preferred their stories and colorful characters to the other ones I played (I, II, III, VIII coulda been good but I didn't care for the scaling difficulty, XII, XIII)

The story line doesn't encourage materia use that much. You're basically good with one or two black magic, heal, all, and some sunmons.

The title says the materia system is perfect. The game didn't even group like materia like it did potions. So the materia menu looks like FIRE RESTORE SPACE SPACE ULTIMA FIRE FIRE SPACE STEAL". You can't auto organize them. I don't think you understand the word "perfect".

What is enemy skill?
@mikeshaver-miller745
@mikeshaver-miller745 9 ай бұрын
Enemy Skill is a materia that, when equipped, can allow you to learn certain enemy attacks and moves if you survive being hit by them and win the battle. There are 4 in the game, and when you build them up they are some of the most powerful materia in your collection. At the very least, it's nearly as versatile as a Master Materia, which you only get at the end of the game. One Mastered Enemy Skill can do healing, buffs, debuffs, major magic attacks, and even physical attacks with special properties, like scaling against current health, level disparity, or the number of times you've fled a battle.

The worst materia in ff7, it has you learn various moves that are much weaker then normal moves that practically acts more like a hindrance then a proper skill
@csmith3248
@csmith3248 2 ай бұрын
@@georgehater8370 Enemy skill materia is actually one of the most over powered materia in the game, you can learn 20 skills from enemies you encounter at various times and places in the game, admittedly some of the enemy skills are useless but some are extremely powerful Such as Matra Magic that deals none element damage to all enemies, this is great skill learn game You have Beta, Aqualing and trine that easily replace any offensive magic spells you have Big guard the most useful buff in the game, it casts haste and barrier and magic barrier on all allies, white wind another useful healing spell that restored Hp and bad statues effect on all allies

You make interesting points, but it's a pretty bad idea to call Materia "perfect" when there are a lot of issues with it. The biggest problem is that it robs characters of their sense of identity. Without Materia, they all feel like clones of each other, with the exception of their Limit Breaks. It's not as bad as FF8 or FF12, but it's still pretty jarring.
@brianstanley1568
@brianstanley1568 Ай бұрын
While this argument makes sense, this also applies to any job-system based RPGs. Every character is defined by their current jobs and has no unique skills on their own. Unless the JRPG allows character-specific skills (such as limit break, which FF7 has) or unique stat growths / stats per character depending on their jobs.

I've beaten this game twice without any materia. I prefer it that way. Also FF6 without espers is the way to go. Well... If you really LOVE ap grinding I would suggest engaging with the materia system but you can really easily smash through ff7 without it.
@tehSunBro
@tehSunBro 7 жыл бұрын
I disagree with the materia system being "perfect" It was great yes, but it had many shortcommings. It's just about as broken as the junction system of VIII And it led to every character feeling the same, something that a lot of FF games struggle with. (7/8/10/13 off the top of my head) Allthou i don't want the remake to change it drastically, maybe only slightly by making Barrier/MBarrier work like more recent versions of Protect/Shell, balancing the Enemy Skill Materia, and make some Statis effects more useful.

"You'll never recreate the magic of the original 1.) technically speaking (Materia/Magic system) can be recreated. Magic that is nostalgia however is impossible. Love that first line bro. 2.) so give it its own modern magic ... new combat sysem,magic system, give the remake its own identity in the generation it is born in. Great words. You lifted the dread of the remake being too different from the original. The fans already have the original. So give the newcomers the chance to discover the world of FF7. And it will lead them to the original as well. Us fans of the original get to have a brand new game . Win win situation.
