Getting enough fiber is huge for your health. Whenever I notice I've gained a few pounds, I switch my snacks to rye crisp bread and carrots and I lose weight almost instantly. Besides, Finnish rye bread is really tasty!

One factor contributing to longevity is how stressful the climate is for people with weaker health. Elderly people have several typical health problems, which are associated with older age and deteriorating physical health. Cold Nordic winter weather is physical stress. It's actually useful stress for a healthy person, but can be dangerous under physical stress for people with heart and blood pressure like problems. Mostly people in Finland do know how to handle coldness. The have plenty of experience of it. Hot weather is similarly a significant risk, but in Finland temperatures rarely go very high. However elderly people who have trouble moving and live in homes, which don't have air-conditioning or even sufficient ventilation this can be not only very uncomfortable but also dangerous. Climate warming is making this more problematic since order buildings were not designed to handle longer hot periods. Of course it's possible to make some changes, but it's not easy or cheap, especially if you don't want to accept noice and other bad side effects of AC.

Thanks for sharing I did not think before about the influence of weather in longevity

You are right. I eat berries every day, filter coffee is also relative healthy in moderate volumes.

@@joeordinary209 thank you for sharing! So interesting that you also drink the most amount of coffee in the world.

@@ilhuihernandez There are good antioxidants in filter coffee, but the sweet spot is less than 5 cups a day :) I think social security and the public health care( even if people complains) is also very important to the average longevity numbers here. Full grain oats bread has very little carbs( comparable), that is also pretty healthy for a bread, i have it daily. Have traveled to US a few times, very difficult and or expensive to eat healthy there, also the servings are crazy big, don't understand how You can manage to have a healthy BMI there, hard work :)

I like this but one thing I often worry about in Finland is the long nights in the winter and then also long days in the summer. I feel like it would be tough to regulate your circadian rhythm. Those pastries look tasty though!
@ilhuihernandezАй бұрын
@@brentglick6757 hello Brent, what you mention is really something to consider regulating the circadian rhythm can be challenging in the Nordics due to the extreme variations in daylight between summer and winter. In Summer you have "midnight sun" conditions. This constant daylight can make it hard for people to know when to sleep, leading to disrupted circadian rhythms and challenging with melatonin regulation. The opposite happens in the long Winters. But hey this is why we have lamps and curtains.

Day/night cycle doesn't really bother that much when you've evolved to live up north. I find myself sleeping more in the winter than in the summer, yet i'm never really even that tired, no matter the season.
