More please integ3r. Your voice is like silk and your points are cogent and compelling. Your warno content is so fun to watch and it would be even better if it had your great commentary over the top of it. I would also happily listen to your rock paper nuclear bomb commentary.

it’s weird because i have the opposite issue, of people being spammy. i’ve been playing since release and i don’t really encounter defensive players anymore, it’s all offense.

It's all low-risk offense. Because that's all that can exist so long as parrying exists as a punish to everything reactable. It means slower attacks almost cannot exist or have any function. It means that inevitably, everything must become a 50/50 mixup, a bash, or unreactable. But is this.. fun? This is why I think the "super meter" is an elegant solution, as it would be a mechanism through which one can limit the constant reliance on powerful low-risk moves. If you first need to throw a heavy attack to build meter which you can then spend to use a bash suddenly throwing the odd heavy attack or slower light attacks makes sense, especially if you're not being severely punished for doing so.

I played For Honor beta and it was subjectively a better game than the full release. It even felt, dare i say, balanced. It was like what i call "endurance fighting", something i have a bias for after playing Mount and Blade multiplayer semi professionally. It means that the fights are long and the winner is usually the one with better mental stamina on top of mastery of the mechanics. Every attack was block-able and parry-able no matter where in the combo the character was (except some of the special attacks of course like the barbarian's hold both clicks attack). Every stance brake could be countered no matter where it came from, after parries or before. It was button mashing heaven and I distinctly remember teaching one new player the game by making him face my every viking. But I guess the players thought long fights were boring and Ubisoft was afraid of that word so they tried to shorten the fights. I remember Ubisoft made the same mistake with Steep. During the beta the game was hardcore as hell. Every minor mistake was a wipeout and it truly felt like extreme sport. Then the game came out and I snowboarded into a tree but instead of wiping out I bounced back. What was hardcore and felt real had become casual. Actually, now that I think about it, that is Unisoft's main mistake. Their game francises start out as hardcore and fun but eventually become casual and boring. Edit: Anybody want to 1v1 WARNO?

The initial version of for honor was a different beast indeed, a slower paced fighting game. It's a shame because I think that vision of the game could have survived if simply small mechanical changes applied in the right spots were done. It didn't need this massive overhaul and rework... just someone with a bit of deeper understanding of the game mechanics and less listening to whiners. They had to 1) Nerf parrying immediately so that it doesn't massively punish attackers the way it did. 2) Nerf blocking in some manner, for example through chip-damage or stamina damage when blocking heavy attacks and doing that alone would have kept the original vision and pacing of the game intact, but made attacking for every single character in the game more viable. It's straight up incompetence that they didn't have the foresight to work in this manner in my eyes. There were voices of reason who had these ideas at the time they needed to be done, but maybe business decisions to sell DLC characters overruled everything. And also, maybe listening to the community majority a little too much. When they complain, they're usually right about a problem, but rarely right about the solution.

The sad thing is, this game, has so much fucking potential! The story fell apart so quickly, the heroes are just horribly designed, with the introduction of the Outlanders faction came even more terribly designed heroes and shitty story decisions, that whole faction is honestly just a serious disappointment, and SBMM is, has been, and always will be a detriment to ANY game’s reputation “WeLl WhY nOt JuSt QuIt PlAyInG” Because as I said at the start of this comment: THIS GAME HAS SO MUCH POTENTIAL And just like ANYTHING with great potential, WE DON’T WANT TO ABANDON IT!!!

I think adding an "honor meter" and branding the update "For Honor 2" and maybe also leaning into the MOBA aspect they have going then game would be a revived and probably alot less frustrating and easier for the developers to balance. Because tweaking how much "honor" you get for letting a heavy attack fly doesn't require doing new animations, it doesn't require new mechanics, it doesn't require new DLC heroes to serve as a test-bench, it's just a number one can adjust up or down. Move is too good? Nets you less honor. Move is risky and usually considered bad? Move gives you more honor. And then suddenly the game isn't punishing every new player who just wants to throw out cool but "not viable" moves and people can just have fun again. But maybe if they spend enough years doing reworks they'll somehow end up in a good state anyway. I highly doubt it though but can't rule it out.

why should parrying be such an issue? you can cancel atks into gbs with catches parries are rather unsafe. Also the honor mechanic is a strange idea. it would strip the game of its uniqueness and for comebacks there is skill. can't say i agree aspecially since the ccu

It’s legit No New content, repainting Pre made maps in styles is not new, nor Is seasonal Content. This kinda stuff is The Very Basic for most Multiplayer games. New maps get pumped out in other games like crazy. It’s repainting content and charging money for season Passes. That’s all now, even in a Brand “New” Re-Hashed map. They removed a ladder, added some bridge and basically that’s it.

Okay first off new content is still made for the game, this includes outfits, armors/weapons, full hero’s, hero skins, executions, effects, and reworks, and more recently a new mechanic with sohei soul collection, secondly this game is incredibly small, smaller then titanfall 2 is right now and it’s still being updated. So you can say you don’t like the game or don’t like reusing of assets but saying it has no new content is objectively wrong

I didn't forget, in fact it is one of my points the game has become a guessing game of mixups, constant bashes and light attack spam as the "solution" to the defensive meta. And it is this way because doing literally anything else, will get parried. This is what I mean by the game is in a state of trying to combine "BS offense with BS defense".

⁠​⁠@@integ3rif it wasn’t, the players with 200ms reaction time wouldn’t lose fights cause nothing you can through at them they couldn’t react too unless you use feats. Also bashes are for most characters the only reliable opener, and if your offense is lacking then that means you are either very predictable or do the same shit all the time, like open with a light all the time instead of you know using the full moveset.

all cap, ive been playing this game since it came out and it has gotten better. and if your issue is the combat your just bad and they are fixing the "defense meta", i love this game and your problem is you suck at the game defense isnt too strong your just not good if you dont like it dont play it.
