Bought my 2020 10R80 GT brand new. Got it Whipple boosted straight off the bat. Basically lived at 700-800 whp (93 and e85) for the last 26000 miles, not one mechanical issue. Admittedly I baby it on the street with some canyon runs and go roll racing once per month about 12 pulls 40-130. Engine oil and filter change every 3000 miles and I never get into it until it’s all warm. I like to think the FI interchiller and OPG and CS have helped. Hope stock engine and trans lives another 26000 miles!

When it's well over 100k then talk to me otherwise you haven't accomplished anything meaningful. I've seen cars at that power level or higher going over 100k. There's an older 5.4 gt500 at 800 wheel on fb groups with 200k and he's been at that power level since 150k and was way above stock well before that and it gets ran hard too but the guy maintains it. That's what matters. I've seen alot of coyotes at 700-800+ north of 100k too. Gen 1 and 2 that is. Idk about gen 3s not really into em and Def not into s650s.

Currently have my gen 3 10r80 and hate it. First mustang and definitely my last. Trans issues since 2k miles, rebuilt twice and started pushing our fluid while still within accepted temp range. Cats went out , currently having vct solenoid issues where car keeps rough idling intermittently and stalling . My car just hit 30k. I literally haven't had a single day without an issue in my 2.5 years of ownership. Sounds great tho and when it does what it's supposed to do it's fun.

@@chadwest1697sorry to hear this mate. Luckily I’ve had the opposite experience with my 2020 whippled 10R80 Mustang GT. Admittedly trans would shift all over the place with some klunking but after getting remote tuned by Wengerd couldn’t be happier.

@@CoyoteAUS My car was initially tuned by petty's garage (previous owner bought petty garage car) , was having issues with the car and figured it might be tune related so switched to wengerd aswell. He solved the pcm over torque limit limp mode issue car would experience with petty garage tune, but i've been chasing other issues. Seemed to have solved most of them now with his support, now seems vvt solenoids need to be replaced. Saw alex video on them and im experiencing same symtoms. Lol sucks cuz my car not even boosted, everyone i see saying they never had issues and making more power 😭. its been 2 years of endless solving issues.

@ sorry to hear your bad mustang experiences. This is the first Ford I’ve ever had so its a good experience for me in terms of the car being reliable especially on boost. I’m a strong believer that quality control on the production line including components like engines and transmissions can be variable with the good being like a blue printed engine just really well put together and torqued well and the bad not well put together hence on going problems. I’ve always had a 3 strike rule: 3 major mechanical related issues in the first two years and the car gets sold straight away. I’ve had mine almost 5 years been incredible. Wengerd is an awesome tuner though.

what abt for f150s still gen 2 over gen 3?
@midnight3473 күн бұрын
Yes same thing applies. The 10r isn't good for big power it costs alot to make it reliable and the gearing isn't necessary when making big power. It's a crutch when na that just isn't needed at big power levels boosted.
@Smasher-Devourer8 күн бұрын
Plus the Gen 2 manuals have a better gear stack than gen 3. 6R80 is flat out better than a 10R. I wish I kept my 2016 GT.

No gen 2 is the better platform for making big power and going fast the easiest cheapest and most reliable possible. I mean just because one has more power stock and more tech doesn't always mean it's the better platform. Ppl get sold a false bill of goods then are flabbergasted when someone tells them the older model is better for modding smh. Oh well who needs facts gen 3 ftw anyways right? It's newer lol

Hes talking about gen 2 coyote over gen 3 coyote. If you're talking about the gen of the mustang the 15-17 that has the gen 2 coyote would be considered gen 6. Technically the gen 3 also comes in the s550 which is gen 6 so it's best to just talk about the engines.

Horse shit you can't do it reliably with a gen 3 either. The gen 2 is every bit as strong as gen 3 if not stronger its a well known fact. The weakest link in the engine stock is the rods and they literally have the exact same rods the boss gen 2 and 3 have the same rods. They have the same ceiling basically the gen 2 is just easier to make that power more reliably for less money all in. I know you wanna beleive gen 3 is superior because it's newer but you're just flat out wrong. When it comes to building for boost and to go fast gen 2 > Gen 3
