Its an error to compare Asamoah Gyan to Abedi. Asamoah Gyan is great but he thrived on the back of excellent midfielders like Essien, appiah, muntari and Co. Infact for me, Asamoah Gyan was not better than Essien...These guys were in the same class but Abedi was in a different realm. He was awesome for both Club and country. 3 times African best and ucl winner. Abedi is arguably the all time African best or at least amongst top 3 all time African best. Asamoah Gyan cannot even be compared to Tony Yeboah with all due respect cos he fell short of being the goal king in any of Europes top leagues. Asamoah made a mark with the blackstars at the WC however to analyse his impact holistically, u have to add his club level performances which is not at par with his blackstars contributions. And it is for this same reason why u cannot also compare Dede Ayew to Asamoah Gyan. Dede won the WC at a juvenile level with prolific strikers in Adiyah and Ransford Osei. Adiyah won the golden boots in that tournament so u cannot credit their success to one person cos he wore the captains band. At the senior level, Even though Dede was solid, he wasn't at the level of asamoah Gyan. As for Jordan, ppl always say he plays better for crystal palace, which is slightly true in terms of attitude but i think he's gives us the same performance he gives to his club. This 2023/24 season 1 goal in 15 games. Last 2022/23 season 4 goals in 39 games. Analyse and draw ur own conclusions. The conclusion of the matter is that no player is beyond criticism. Asamoah Gyan was criticised till he decided not to take penalty kicks again. His family was even unfortunately threatened at some point when he missed the penalty.
