When you guys do go, InshAllah, please don't leave rubbish around like many locals do, not that I am pointing a finger at you, just mentioning it. I rode across these areas on horseback in 1989 and it was pristine. Now that the road has been metaled, and there are nice hotels up there, and people can just drive up in their city vehicles, there is much plastic rubbish all around. Yes I have been to India.. it was an interesting experience.. went to Ladakh, Delhi, Kashmir, Amritsar.. each place was so different to each other.. its a massive country with many different people so each area has its own identity

gilgit baltistan is Shia majority place. Shia is one many sects of Islam and Pakistan is an Islamic state. in 1950s they started killing ahmadias and shias because in Sunni majority Pakistan they are not considered Muslims. even in among Sunnis- barelvi, devbandi, al hadish are not considered Muslims in Pakistan. in one of the best ever report written in South Asia by justice Munir on the killings of ahmadias in 1954 he called 24 leaders of Islam representing 24 sects of Islam in Pakistan at that time and asked them please define Islam. there was no agreed definition. all of them defined that the other 23 of them are kafirs or infidels. and 24 of them said that Muhammad Ali Jinnah the father of Pakistan was an infidel.
