There wasn't much interest in Tsygankov after his injury stream and form drop off. Dovbyk is also a cool but limited player. Both aren't just smart bargain transfers but are also well-integrated. The transfers themselves aren't that spectacular.

I really appreciate a more recent insight as we come towards the end of this calendar year, monitoring the hopeful chances of Girona having a shot at European football, and maybe (fingers crossed) actually winning La Liga. How breaking the strangle hold on the La Liga would upset the current giants of the Spanish game would be revolutionary.

It’s a shame seeing how dismissive people are of Girona because of the CFG ownership. (47% stake btw). They’ve hardly spent the money of a City and use a lot of loans and discarded players. I think it’s more of an indictment in how weak La Liga is at the moment. Both Barca and Real are miles worse than they were just 5 years ago. It’s nice to see some new blood challenge at the top for once!

It's not about the money spent. Many people still view football clubs as a part of their city/regional identity, not just an entertainment to be consumed in exchange for money. Being owned by CFG spoils that.

How would it not be as special, it's very similar, Girona were in the second division for a few seasons up until last season where they finished 10th, depsite this they were faves to be relegated this season and were 10,000/1 to win the La liga and so if they win it, it's just as special as Leicester winning the league plus maybe even more so as Girona aren't as big as Leicester and the La liga has been dominated by two clubs for most of it's history so it's actually a bigger feat

This Girona thing is very shady. City group buys players around the world and lends them to Girona. Players that otherwise would have never step foot in a team like Girona. Aleix Garcia, Yan Couto, Savio, Yangel Herrera, and recently Echeverri, who costs 25M and next year city will have him grooming in his B team, girona, and once his ready will join the main team. I'm not denying that Michel is doing and excellent job, but definitely the team is receiving doping and I see it very unfair for other teams in la liga like Betis, Sevilla Valencia etc who has no money to afford new and good talented players, but they are bigger and have more history than City second team. If Girona makes it to the champions shouldn't be allowed to play because City would be there. There would be a conflict of interests. It's like Barça Atletic was never allowed to play in the same league as Barça. Amazing to see a team like City that was nothing like +10 years ago and has finally become a monster dominating the Premier and la Liga now. They accomplished it by not respecting the fair play rules and investing billions. Sports should be about merits and not who pays more. Football is dead.

If Girona made it to the UCL they would be allowed to play; in the same way RB Leipzig and RB Salzburg are allowed to play even though they are owned by the same owner.
