Multiversity is the work of a genius writer,who should be mentioned in the same breath as Tolkien,George r Martin and Dickens ...

George RR Martin is arguable. The others you mentioned? Not so much...
@gabbar51ngh5 жыл бұрын
@@sketchstevens5859 I don't think Dickens ever wrote stuff like that or Tolkien. They are great classical writers but were very limited to a specific genre of their time. I don't see them coming up with the stuff Morrison does. I don't even know why Martin is even mentioned there.

I first read Final Crisis the very first year I got into comics (around 7 years ago). I absolutely hated it and couldn't comprehend why he had so many fans out there. Now, after having read thousands more pages of DC comics, several different writers and kinds of stories, I decided to give it another try. And well, I loved it, it is just genius. I was just not ready back then, I couldn't appreciate the greatness of his writing back then, the way he uses all these allegories to build a mind blowing mythology for the creation and composition of the Universe is fantastic. I'm getting Multiversity right away and will definitely try to read all of his stuff now.

Doom Patrol is fucking revolutionary, the story has such meaning and depth compared to Kupperberg's flimsy run. Robotman's internal dialogue just pierces my heart everytime I reread it, the individual development of these characters is outstanding with crazy Jane being a real stand out. These characters are true outcasts, hated and despised by society even more so than the X Men in this regard, which is something I have always related to and empathised with as a lonely comic book fan who finds solace in these flawed beings.

Final Crisis follows Morrison's often nonchalant heroes trying to solve the unfolding mysteries as Darkseid finally gets the anti-life equation, takes over Earth, is killed by Batman, who dies while killing him (but not really) which leads to Barry Allen coming back to life, and is afterward brought back to life as Dan Turpin, while subplots have the Green Lantern's try to solve the murder of Darkseid's son Orion and the Alpha Lantern in charge of Earth's Green Lanterns turn out to be evil, the original Green Lantern of Earth drafts a bunch of superheroes to fight the coming Apokolips takeover and practically fail immediately, Earth's barely superheroes the Tattooed Man II (the black one) mas e menos (from the teen titans cartoon) and Empress (Anita Fite from the Young Justice comic team) try to survive while lots of heroes (like Wonder Woman) are turned into villains with the anti-life equation, but Mary Marvel just turns evil due to siding with Black Adam. Superman is forced to save the life of Lois Lane, who's comatose in a hospital NOT effected by the world going to Apokoliptic hell, by dimension-jumping with a Monitor, while Donna Troy, Jason Todd, and Kyle Rayner were doing the same thing to find Ray Palmer in the Countdown, then went their separate ways. The Fourth World characters Sunny Sumo and Mr. Miracle Shilo Norman, joined by Japanesey Super Young Team, search for a cure to the anti-life equation from an ancient cave drawing of Metron's symbol, and it is discovered that the Super Young Team are the Fifth World New Gods that Metron predicted would appear years ago (in the real world, not canon). Superman's journey uncovers comic characters so sucky they were lost to the Limbo Realm, who join him and countless other Supermen in fighting Ultraman and Mandrakk the evil Monitor who've both become vampires. When Superman wins, he wishes for a happy ending to this story, which gives him the cure to save Lois Lane's life, and essentially kills all the other monitors. The monitor that drafted all the Supermen turns human again, Darkseid's defeated, and the epilogue shows Batman as a caveman drawing Metron's symbol in the distant past.

Shit... yeah, you nailed it. I'm glad there are no paragraph breaks either since it should be read breathlessly and with eyes continuing to widen and glaze over from the enormity of the insanity.
@FredMaverik5 жыл бұрын
You ALMOST nailed it. The Super Young Team aren't the fifth world.... The super-heroes are. All of them. Justice league, titans, batman, and yes, even the Super Young Team since they are also heroes... So yeah, close but not as close. I will suggest some books that help understand Final Crisis and possibly Multiversity better: Jack Kirby's Fourth World (to understand the basis of it all) Morrison's Animal Man (to understand a lot of themes morrison uses) JLA (to understand the Fifth World) Seven Soldiers of Victory (to understand the Anti-Life Equation, Darkseid and Mr Miracle's role in it all) Batman (to read the batman and son, black glove, RIP saga that leads to Final Crisis... also, Time and the Batman, Batman & Robin, and Batman Inc. after FC) Final Crisis and Multiversity (you finally got here) The Green Lantern (possibly) And yes, you could probably read more Morrison's comics, like Doom patrol, Flex mentallo, The Invisibles... but these are the what covers best the "Fifth World Saga" or the "Hypercrisis", whatever you wanna call it.

hi angry nerd...this is the first video of yours which I see, and I'm happy it's with a great comment on my favourite comic book writer and his newest work. The book which I like the most from him is Doom Patrol (with we3, kill your boyfriend, and the x-men right behind). I also loved the first issue of The Multiversity, and I was ecstatic to see Captain Carrot, more so due to the end of Final Crisis and that scene which made me actually tear up. The scene in question is when Morrison returns the anthropomorphic animals into DC.

Its been awile but basicly, dark side kills a god to start confusion and in fighting wile he looks for the answer to kill all life on earth and batman kills him but dies doing so. That is the VERY VERY VERY short answer.

Batman Incorporated, more because Morrison seems to have a talent for writing all this weird, crazy sheit and getting people to believe it. It's like if Alan Moore's stuff didn't take itself so damn seriously. Also, based on that one clip, I think Grant and I have a lot in common.

Grant Morrison is an amazing anomaly. I mean who makes Captain Carrot 🥕 relative in a comic while Hitler is constipated on a toilet? Animal Man is an absolute gem so is the Invisibles. He is a writing God. Cheers!!

Alan Moore love super heroes did you read promethea? No I just don't get it with KZbin critics, you read Watchmen and a few comics he did in the 80s but don't take the time to read what he had to say in the 90s. Why not recommend Lost Girls or his ABC line or his run in Image comics?

Superheroes are just really lame and if this guy actually belives his work affects life in any way then he is absolutely wasting his talents. The comics you induldge in shouldn't be about dainty spandex clad superheroes doing good in your neighborhood if you're an adult. Period. Read the unfinished comic series 'Bedlam' if you really want to get mad about a comic being cancelled. As for good 'superhero' comics check out 'The Boys' or 'The Great Lakes Avengers' (or whatever they decided to call themselves now.)
@oscaraguilardelamora8 жыл бұрын
I think most of his works are overrated, and people continue to adore him like he, as the title of your video actually reads, is a god. Does mixing the narrative structure suddenly make you a god? Since he realized how many people are willing to believe in him as a god when he wrote Animal Man, he finds a way to break the fourth wall in almost every work of his. He lacks originality.
@1krani5 жыл бұрын
What about his Seven Warriors series, which to my knowledge was the first ever team comic where the team never actually comes together or even interacts as a team.
