For example, now that this ending has happened in JJK, I am pretty sure that in the future all it will ever really be recommended for is the fights and nothing more.

Heian era clans would probably be explained in the heian era flashback Binding vows were explained but I think your referring to what sukuna had to lose to use a binding vow Idk about the black box thing, thought it was just used to censor furnace Jjk phantom parade main characters should have been used in the real jjk man But if you're talking about other countries, I think it's already explained because the USA didn't even know what curses are, only Japan knows

6:25 whoa, that was a lot of misinformation. Oda had the idea of the Four Emperors long before he thought of the Seven Warlords (not the other way around like you suggested). In fact, he's stated that creating the Warlord system is what caused the story to accidentally grow so large in scale. He never received any pressure from editors to artificially extend One Piece at the five-year mark Grand Line Review even has an entire video explaining it called "This Is Why One Piece Is So Long"
@youtube-kit9450Ай бұрын
This. He literally started with a 5 year plan and the emperors were the opponents. Most of the bloat came from the Shichibukai, who "were too cool not to add". Same with the super rookies, he added them because he felt like the Sabaody arc otherwise lacked interesting characters. He didn't expect them to become such pivotal players. I don't remember a single interview or anything where he said that an editor told him to do x or stuff like that. Look in difference at Toriyama's debacle with Cell. The androids were supposed to be the main bad guys, but the editor told him no, they're not final villain material. So he made Cell, whose insectoid appearance was also not approved of, so he made Semi-perfect cell, but had to bring in perfect Cell earlier because the editor thought he looked stupid. Nothing like that exists about One Piece. Heck, and I don't see why it would be neccessary considering OP is a huge juggernaut in Japan and Oda likes widening his story's scope on his own constantly.

honestly i think it really boils down to the weekly shonen format being utterly unsustainable in the long term. no matter how good an author is, they're bound to burn out, suffer health problems, mental problems, all while the magazine's priority is to keep popular series' running for as long as possible. of course series do suffer from their own individual problems, and i feel like jjk had a big priority shift where starting with the culling games, it lost a lot of interest in its cast. there would be occasional moments of characters working through their emotions, but largely it treated them mainly as spectacle for action. which i suppose is fine in theory for an action series, but after so many fans grew attached to the series because of the characters and looking forward to seeing where their arcs would go, it really does suck that most of them didnt really go anywhere or didnt get enough attention to develop. gojo being unsealed from the box is a really good encapsulation of this. he's psychologically the same and shows little emotion at learning one of his students is nearly dead and the other, his own adopted ward, is taken over, brushing it off with a joke about how he'll be fine punching his face in, then fights sukuna for several months real time and dies. while we do get a nice send off with him reuniting with people important to him, it really does feel like the manga just does not care about the relationships and emotions of these characters anymore, and its a big let down for many because thats WHY they liked the series.

With each part giving the reader a satisfying conclusion, which is probably the hardest part to write of any manga series. As well as it needs more recognition as Shonen Jump success story when it comes to handling side characters and plot lines/points. However, I can’t say I necessarily dislike or really hate any manga endings as much as some choose to do, it always comes back to respecting the author/mangaka for me. By trying to understand what they were trying to do with their ending and their limitations to acknowledge the value of the entertainment/interest they have provided me. I think there's a couple of other major factors too. Usually by the end of one of these serializations, the mangaka is worn out and ready to be done, so when they see the end in sight, they get tunnel vision on ending it so they can stop drawing for a while. The other thing is a seeming lack of understanding about the difference between a climax and a conclusion. One major theme for these manga are the battles themselves and the conflict with the villains. So once the big bad is defeated, they feel like there's no more story to write since there's no conflict. Novels understand this better though. A classic example is Lord of the Rings. They don't just have one little scene after the ring is destroyed (spoilers lol), there are about five different epilogues tying up loose ends and answering questions.

I agree with you, mainly on how that of editors in Manga companies can be the main reason behind a lot of good manga’s kinda just struggling when Mangaka’s already have an ending all planned out however because the series is so popular and is making a lot of money editors and publishing companies can do a lot to ruin a good series. I still like the ending of MHA as somebody who was getting into writing this series kinda was one of my inspirations so I may seem a little biased. However, the characters is what basically drove me to enjoy the series. My only concern about the ending is that Deku is still able to be a hero and the ending delivered on that for me, I won’t lie. There is still a lot of things that I wish that it could’ve done better, but it still ended off on a good note for me. I could really care less about the shipping. As for JJK’s ending, my problem is how the past chapters basically set up so much stuff that was going to happen in the world, but basically felt like a horrible pointless payoff because none of it meant nothing don’t get me wrong. The series is amazing when it comes to action and it’s one of the best when it comes to a power system, which a lot of Shonen’s either struggle to make it make sense or consistent enough to make things feel new. Also keeping things logical within the system. JJK does that however what it lacks in is basically making characters likable to feel invested into them outside three or four characters in the story I like the others I could really not care less about if we had more time with them know about their backstory more then I would actually feel something for them, but unfortunately that’s not gonna happen since they even confirmed that we’re not gonna get a sequel series which is a shame still an amazing series just had a hard time sticking the landing that’s all. But all the same Shonen anime and manga truly do struggle a lot either the perfected or not it depends on the reception and personally I feel like it’s the fan’s fault for that. They put so much and expectations on an ending that when they don’t get what they want or answers are not given they basically turn on the creator and call it trash personally it’s not fair to the mangaka and it’s not fair to those who truly like the ending though but of course we’re in an age where nostalgia, outrage and simple mindedness rules over our culture. It’s to be expected to be honest.

It’s fascinating how the endings of beloved manga can spark such intense reactions. I think what we’re seeing with *Jujutsu Kaisen* and *My Hero Academia* is an inevitable clash between fan expectations and the limits of long-form storytelling. These series built such intricate worlds and set up huge stakes, but that leaves little room for endings that feel conclusive yet satisfying. Fan pressure, serialization demands, and the sheer complexity of these narratives make it almost impossible to “stick the landing.” It’s not that these endings are bad-they’re just trapped in a cycle of impossibly high expectations and the weight of their own success.

Their opinion change out of nowhere like the first reaction to the ending of a series is full-blown trash it. I don't get that type of mindset about ending now there's some endings to certain manga that I personally don't like but there's so many things that weren't bad from other series like like the video said like Naruto bleach what they ended I was pretty much satisfied I know the fan base for those particular ones I said they changed the whole conversation about those endings. I don't get it I really don't get it it's very weird to me
@facundosilveira55352 ай бұрын
Same. I think people just like hating. They do this for every series. JJK, MHA ans AOT's endings were flawed, but not trash, they were ok at worst and actually had some very good points. And then there's people who talk like they didn't even read the manga. Eren's sudden transformation into an edgelord who wants genocide never made any sense. When he talked with Armin for the last time, it all made sense. He was just acting like that to be the world's villain so Paradise could defeat him and be the heroes so that the world would stop trying to kill them, it was the only way he saw with the founding titan's power that would allow his friends to have peace. everyone who says that Eren should have gone full 100% are just sick on th head. And for the love of god, the merger was never going to happen. it was just the consequence if they didn't win the battle against Sukuna. It wasn't a build up for a next antagonist, it was just there to give the final battle stakes. It wouldn't have even made sense. In order for the merger to happen, every player would have had to die, it could only happen if everyone died. Even if the merger could have happened without everyone dying and the good guys fought it, it would have been so ass. You can not have a mindless monster as the final antagonist of the series after fighting Ryomen Sukuna, one of the best antagonists we've had in modern manga, who has been built up since chapter 1. It would just be another Kaguya situation. So people whinning about the merger just pisses me off

Isayama is terrible at writing what he perceives as romance imo. say what u will. but people hating it is very valid.
@facundosilveira55352 ай бұрын
@@Sntra101 eh, i don't think it is unrealistic for the other countries to be evil or cruel to the eldians. I think it is realistic to a certain point, people in the real world are easy to manipulate into hating each other, nobody is immune to propaganda. Hell, most people don't even need manipulation. Humans are naturally afraid of anything that is different, and that fear grows to hatred. While a pov of Eren showing that it was all an act would have helped understand why he was doing things, i thing it would have taken away from the twist at the end, which i think it's what Isayama was going for. I 100% agree with you on this thou, the AOT romance is trash. Mikasa kissing Eren's decapitated head was just weird and creepy, i don't know what he was cooking with that. Even outside of that moment, almost all of Mikasa's characterization is just being obsessed with Eren, i would swear that most of her lines are "Eren". You got the One Piece situation all backwards. The story blew up because Oda himself watned to draw more. Editors actually try to trim it where they can. Punk Hazard was supposed to be two arcs, one set in a fire island and the other on an ice island, but the editor convinced Oda to smash them together and make it into a single islansd that's split into a fire and ice half. The Tontatta tribe was supposed to be an arc too, until the editors suggested Oda make it a part of Dressrosa. Oda has previously attributed the extended length to a couple of factors. One of them is that he wants to draw more and gets carried away. Another is that his characters start acting on their own and take detours from the main storyline. Lastly Oda's stated one of the bigger reasons he's so much past his initial plan is that he realized that the side characters need motivations to join the crew or support Luffy, which can be seen in how much attention and screentime starts to be given to each subsequent crew member. With Zoro it was a matter of reaching an agreement, meanwhile for Franky, Brook etc. we got multi chapter flashbacks, several fights and a strong presence ove r the course of two arcs.

a pretty good answer to this question. and having these last two videos back to back show to you have your planning figured out cause as a fan I was not expecting that 😁. Anyway guess I'll expand on the series mentioned in this list. No disagreements on FF and I still haven't picked up on Gintama yet but based on what I've heard that sounds right. (Probably never reading TR but also sounds right from what I've heard). AoT really was one super controversial ending & I think a lot of people forget the controversies of the Big 3 endings. Though I will say in the case of AoT, one of the refreshing aspects looking back is I felt a lot of people disavowed the series if they hated the ending and as big fan of the series, it was nice to have people making less noise about my series. Cause at it's popularity, the fandom was quite a cesspool. As for the series that just ended, again I feel your general answer is on point. MHA felt lackluster while JJK made some weird choices near the very end. Personally as MHA was wrapping up I just wanted it to be over as I already wasn't a fan of the trajectory of things, but JJK on the other hand kept me guessing till the very end. For that reason I think JJK has the better ending. However I will say that MHA had a more definitive end with less left over. Though both did have big things left over: the merger for JJK & the quirk singularity for MHA. Now I'd like to bring some comparison points. Now I understand you only have some much time per video but there were a couple series I'm surprised didn't get brought up. Big one being Demon Slayer. Another series that ended with a whimper. While ending was definitive like MHA, it also picked the strangest way to end the series like JJK. Considering how close to the end the series was when the anime blew up, likely also affected by popularity. Mashle almost certainly was as well since iirc the mangaka said the series was ending soon but then had to take it back. The bigger series I was expecting you to mention this video was Dr Stone and Edens Zero. Cause they both are good examples of planned endings & they're major series you've covered on the channel. The former was slightly hampered by fan expectation, but outside of Ginatama & Haikyuu, was one of the better shonen jump series endings. Edens Zero on the other hand felt like a long drawn out conclusion with the final arc and major exposition dumping near the ending. Dr Stone had the advantage of a follow up on it's final plot hooks. However I don't think any of these series were quite as vocal about their endings as those listed in the video (except maybe Demon Slayer). Maybe be due to popularity due to the their respective anime adaptations. Last big point I wanted to bring up was anime. Because as you mentioned Bleach is now more enjoyed because of the TYBW arc anime. MHA controversy aside, I've heard people watching the anime are enjoying it. Maybe the spectacle of the anime will help people remember the series fondly. Similar thing may happen for Demon Slayer. However going back to Bleach, this maybe a chance for JJK to have some corrections made before it finishes adapting the series. Seems unlikely for Dr Stone with only one more season left. EZ at most could maybe fix pacing issues. It may not be possible for all series, but I think that while anime only endings have ruined some adpation in the past, in the future maybe it'll be their salvation. tl;dr I can agree with most of what was said in the video. While I like JJK & it's ending a bit more, MHA did an ok job at making a conclusive finale. Though both had major unresolved things. I had expected a few more examples of popular series endings, including planned ones like Dr Stone & EZ along with unplanned ones like Mashle & possibly Demon Slayer. But my big thing is that I hope many more series get their TYBW anime redemptions.
@natalimoina2 ай бұрын
Demon Slayer's ending isn't unplanned wtf. DS is already one of the most planned out series and that goes double for its ending, which was built up to incredibly well. It was the perfect ending that wrapped everything up super well, no loose ends, all arcs and themes resolved wonderfully. It isn't really strange that it ended when it did. Yeah, it could have been milked for years and years, but Shonen Jump seem comfortable to let authors end their manga naturally nowadays when it is their time, so it's great that newer authors are doing just that instead of dragging it out for 1000 chapters.

What about the entire world knowing about cursed energy GEGE SAID FUCK THAT I want to write what miva and the npc character's feeling about this, and write about shadow style. Regarding MHA, I must say I actually really liked the final battle between Shigaraki and Deku. I always expected it to go somewhat like that, because Deku never wanted to destroy Shigaraki, but rather understand him and, despite everything, save him. However I agree that the epilogue was very underwhelming. Even if it's only a side manga and it's canonicity can be argued, Vigilantes exists, Knuckleduster exists. The fact that despite there being a perfect example of a quirkless hero, Deku just gave up on his dreams as soon as OFA was gone, that did leave a sour taste in my mouth. I would've prefered that he kept fighting for his dreams in spite of everything, that way the last part about him obtaining a superpowered armor to go back to being a hero would've felt much more fulfilling. Honestly that's the only part of the ending I didn't like, because the rest of the ending did align with my expectations pretty adequately. (I have nothing to say about JJK since I haven't read the manga and only watched Season 1 of the anime)

Bro you’re overgrazing the hell out of jjk with that title. One of the best manga? 😂 I’m sorry but it’s really not. It having a bad ending was predictable off rip and only kept going on a downward trajectory till that point. Characters like gojo and nobara were a clear sign that gege messed up very early on. In a battle oriented story you should never have side characters with abilities that can easily kill the final opponent. It’s a bad writing choice that can and will destroy your narrative. And obviously making the final opponent overly powerful and unbeatable to your protagonist is also an extremely bad choice. It’s also never a good idea to have your protagonist remain weaker than literally every other cast member all the way up till the final battle’s final moments. I hope gege learned from his mistake and that whatever he does next he will use his newfound experience to avoid creating another gojo situation.

Spoilers for Tokyo Revengers. The problem with Tokyo Revengers wasn't that there was another arc. The final arc was clearly intended to exist before and wasn't just written because the manga was popular. The actual problem with the final arc is that it kinda ended out of nowhere AND we got a Disney ass ending where everyone's lives were spared and everything ended happily ever after. Even some of the most vile people in the series (Like Kisaki and South) were redeemed. Tokyo Revengers is 278 chapters long, and for like 270 of those chapters its a good manga. It just needed another 10-15 chapters to explain some things better, and to instead have a more bittersweet ending where some characters are dead, but the goal of the protagonist is still met. TR was my first manga, and it makes me sad that it had such a crappy, rushed ending. I heard that Ken Wakui was forced by Kodansha to wrap everything up, which would make sense I guess because he is now working under Shonen Jump writing his new manga, Astro Royale (Which I've heard mixed things about, but haven't read it myself)
@ArchAngelKnights27 күн бұрын
also bleach manag ending was a totally different story. Whatever the reason you believe (there were multiple) Kubo was sick and/or he was literally being rushed by the studio to finish the manga and they told him to do it within a few chapters. It was obvious.

I don't remember anybody was praising Naruto and Bleach's ending. While they're a lot more forgiving to them now, they still acknowledge that the endings are super flawed. Same will be with JJK and MHA. And I feel JJK was already getting hate way before the ending was announced. People were already pointing out the failures of JJK's characters. I feel like your observation of the reactions are quite surface level. Yes, the general complaint of these endings are the characters and rush plot. But what other criticisms can you give aside from those? Usually bad endings always boils down to those two. But the devil is always in the details. People had that exact complaints for Tokyo Revengers' ending and I don't think anybody would defend how dumb it was. Same can be said with Yuyu Hakusho's ending. Another possible usual complaints would be dragged out plot and overstaying welcome like God Of Highschool. But that issue is literally the complete extreme opposite ends of the "rush plot" complaint. Also, I never was onboard the train of Eren should be this gigachad edgelord train and always view him to be pathetic. Still dislikes the ending of AoT. Expectations from fans is one thing, but like you said with Deku and Ochaco, expectations written and set by the author is another. Also, there's also the problematic writing with Eren in general that has nothing to do with him being a Wuss.

Yeah, maybe I just missed it, but I never heard people defending Naruto's or Bleach's endings much. In fact, people constantly lament that their endings were very obviously rushed (Bleach because of Kubo's health, Naruto because Kishi just wrote himself into a corner constantly). Naruto mostly had its hate died down because Boruto is that much more hated, and the only reason I saw people liking Bleach was because the anime adaptation was done competently and it showed off a few more forms people really wanted to see.

While i dont like fan service in stories and endings that dont fit the overall themes of main stories, I do think that if an author doesnt have a clear idea of how to finish a series, it never hurts to let themselves be somewhat guided by fan input. I’m not saying gege should have brought everyone back to life and had them all have a dance party at the end, but by the last few chapters you could really feel that Gege did not want to write the story anymore. It felt like he kept throwing ideas and lore at the wall trying to bide time until the 5 chapter limit was up. I really dont think it would have hurt the ending to adjust it with fan expectations in mind. I feel as if many authors get caught up in the pride of wanting to subvert expectations at the expense of writing a solid piece of entertainment. Had Gege wrapped up or answered some long term lore and character questions in the last 5 chapters, i believe this ending would have much better reception. Instead we wasted a whole chapter on explaining simple domain, recapping the fight we spent more than a year reading, and a new random mission for the main trio. I wouldnt be surprised if Gege did this things specifically to spite what fans wanted out of the ending. Either way, an ending like this will be the ending of jjk FOREVER, and we all agree it could have been handled better.

@juggram_992 ай бұрын
The thing is, it all felt like Gege was tired of jjk and wanted to end this as soon as possible. It was feeling that way since the poorly executed ending of Gojo vs Sukuna. And more things were being ignored like the stuff mentioned in the video, the merger barely affecting the fight or adding meaningful stakes (like seriously you could remove the merger from the story and nothing would change), Kenjaku, the same sorcerer trying to execute a plan for centuries or even a milennia (i don't remember well, correct me if im wrong), died in a lackluster way (no off-screen, just that such a smart character and dies easily. It was intelligent, but not appropriate for the character imo). The US military kidnapping sorcerers subplot was barely addressed. The shibuya thing when Geto came back to choke Kenjaku was also never addressed again, and more bs that Gege apparently didn't want to explain. Gege could have easily spent the last 3 chapters tying loose ends instead of making a whole chapter of Maki yapping about useless things that doesn't matter or the pointless mission about a stalker with a worse CT than Helicopter head, airplane hair girl and the other girl with a hair CT.

On paper this ending at first seemed terrible and in so many ways it is regarding the speed in which it moved. BUT, if you really think about what it means symbolically, and what these last few chapters have been trying to convey the ending is honestly better than you think. I was upset about a few things after leaks, especially with no mention of who that geto look alike was but then again the story has been trying to tell us it doesn’t matter. The ending to me is simply trying to convey that these characters have the strength to chose there own path, regardless of where the story took them, in the end they all got a chance to chose where they want to go. Sukunas path to me was especially interesting to me as on paper he should never have any doubt in his beliefs, but then again his beliefs on talent, strength, and love have been shattered multiple times in his fight against the sorcerers. He was so arrogant to these concepts and because of his own pride and selfishness he automatically assumed he understood what these concepts meant. But true talent isn’t just being born with talent because there are those who’s potential can out shine there’s. True strength isn’t just being born with strength, the strength to forgive and face one’s self is also strength. And true love isn’t just as plain as to say you love someone, as seen by yuji love can be shown through empathy and guidance. All this to say jjk ending to me on a symbolic note was great. The problems are still there ofc w the crazy pacing but I can still say gege wrapped up the theme of jjk in a great way

Personally, I view JJK and MHA having okay endings. Nothing terrible, but nothing amazing like this is gonna stick with me for so long. Ones that I believe are good have that sense of resolution and really show the growth of your characters (usually just the MC but sometimes more). I think Shaman King, Katekyo Hitman Reborn, and Zatch Bell have great endings that feel like true resolutions and ends to great character arcs. Granted people have their own personal grips with them (Shaman King being called rushed is fair, but it was canceled for years before being allowed a set amount of chapters to wrap up everything but is one of the best ways to take down an overpowered final main antagonist to date; Katekyo Hitman Reborn gets flak because by the end Tsuna isn't a true mob boss, but he never wanted to be one and the ending shows how much he's matured without lossing himself to the mafia world, so he can still be no good Tsuna but his life is exponentially more fulfilling now). I will give completely biased honorable mentions to Rave and Fire Force. Rave is so brutual that you're just happy that all is not lost in the end, and everyone really gave a good showing in the final arc with things you couldn't predict. Fire Force, I absolutely loved the ending and how it connected things, but I can't deny that it does do one thing I cringed at in the finale with a "my MC is basically Jesus" trope which felt unnecessary; other than that, I loved it and especially how things ended for characters like Arthur and Obi.

I really don’t get a lot of the dislike towards MHA’s ending. I do have a few issues with it myself, I think AfO should have stayed gone after Bakugo beat him, and I think the final impact, the last exchange in battle between Deku & All for Shigaraki was a bit weak. However, I think Shigaraki stayed a strong character the whole way. Fighting against the one who took him over even at the very end, with an insatiable desire for change, just in a different direction from Deku. Then, at the end, Deku finally takes it into consideration, and so he changes, then the world changes. It’s a bit sad for Deku to lose his powers, but it shows the growth of society when he can be a hero even without them, when in the beginning that wasn’t even a possibility. The ending is about addressing why people become villains, and making sure that no one has to become a villain again: it’s heroes saving people. I’d give MHA a 9/10 overall.
