The lush subcontinent of America is rich with natural resources, but not many people are familiar with it. However, South America contains a hidden gem, namely Guyana. According to the latest edition of the World Bank's "Global Economic Prospects", Guyana's economy is projected to grow by a massive 49.7% during this year. This news is more surprising, considering the global economy is being plagued by myriad uncertainties at this time.

I left guyana in 1967 as a teenager to pursue a career in UK. Guyana was poor then .when it gained independence from the British the country changed. I remembered the riots we couldn't get food to buy. I'm so glad to see how guyana has changed ove the years and prospering.

Great video. Thank you. Isn't this to be concerned as unstable growth? Besides the insufficient labour and lacking infrastructure, there's also to be considered that corruption is high and that the prizes of living (and basicly anything) are very high. 95% (not fact checked) of the products suppliers sell in Guyana are imported whilst import taxes are astonishingly high. There is low quality on basic supplies and the prices are high. However I hope it'll not be the case, I think Guyana is going on the road of becoming a Banana republic and will follow the path of Venezuela.

Not even Saudi Arabia with more income from oil 'gives' a paycheck to it's citizens they do provide all social assistance to their citizens for free, they like Bahrain, Qatar and others don't give money to their citizens but they issue an unemployment benefit to all citizens not working equal to their minimum wage and lower wage citizens get an incentive. They also invested the bulk of monies made from oil to sustain the future of their countries not just have it and give it away. Is Canada giving away all their oil money to their citizens???? USA nor any country does that, you are a true Guyanese always want what is not yours without thinking about the next day. Ridiculous clip. 48 Percent of Guyanese people, so about half of them, live in poverty with less than 5 US dollar income a day according to the WHO. I just fled Guyana a couple of days ago, after staying only three days: I couldn’t afford the living costs as a tourist from comparable rich Germany. A box of Oreo cakes costs 10 Us Dollar in a supermarket. The economy is totally fucked up in reality and surviving for the citizens get more difficult from day to day.

Probably you didnt understand the video : dpi.gov.gy/guyana-makes-17th-oil-discovery/ I SAID : "It wasn’t until 2015 when the first discovery of rich deepwater oil field in the country’s offshore STABROEK BLOCK." The Stabroek Block is a 6.6 million acre offshore oil reservoir off Guyana's Atlantic coast. In May 2015, ExxonMobil announced that it had made its first significant oil discovery within the block at the Liza 1 well. In July 2018, ExxonMobil raised its estimate of discovered recoverable resources in the Stabroek Block to 4 billion barrels of oil.Projected recoverable reserves had grown to 9 million boe by October 2020, and ExxonMobil further increased its estimates to 10 million boe in October 2021.
