It's a no brainer for Hamilton. He could only really do it now.. If Mercedes happen to have a winning car this year, he still has a chance at a Title and then he has a go with Ferrari. If Mercedes is poor, then he can have a go at Ferrari. And if Ferrari is not great on 2025 he can have a say in the 2026 car and the new regs. If Ferrari doesn't work out, he will have driven for 3 of the best teams ever in Formula 1 and had a long and hugely successful career anyway.

“Both Lewis and Toto agree” that’s absolutely not the case. Hamilton wanted 3 years and an ambassador role which their counter offer was 1 year deal and no ambassador role. Hamilton wanted to retire as a Mercedes driver, but they didn’t valued him enough and that’s what has been reported .

There's often quite a bit lost in translation when people are "reporting". To think that Toto would not roll out the red carpet for Hamilton is laughable. These people are competent and Mercedes has been planning for this day (ie Antonelli). There was certainly a mutual understanding of what a short term contract would mean, for both parties.

@@karlosdelacruz3803 mate in what rock you been living under? It’s been reported for years that the Mercedes board didn’t want to pay Lewis what he wanted and it has been reported for over a year that Lewis and Mercedes were not agreeing on a deal because Hamilton wanted an ambassador role. This is not a Reddit rumor, it’s been reported by several people. Also Toto is part of the board, if he wanted he could have given Lewis the three years he wanted, do you think Lewis was keen on the 1 year deals? He said no to Ferrari more than once before accepting. Just do you research.

Mercedes is a German brand and firstly, they didn’t want their German idol Schumacher’s record to be broken by a black British driver. Secondly, Abu Dhabi was clearly orchestrated by Mercedes and the FIA to gift Maxipad a title and to again block Lewis from surpassing Schumacher. Lewis and Toto didn't agree on that. Lewis and Toto both wanted a long deal for him. The board of directors of Mercedes-Benz are the ones who refused a long contract and refused him an ambassadorial role. Lewis also did not drive the W15 in the simulator and it has been stated that the W15's performance (whether good or not) was not a factor in his decision. The Ferrari chairmen offered Lewis a ridiculously fruitful contract along with an ambassador role and a lot of money to fund his charities and initiatives. Ferrari just seemed to want him more than Mercedes did.

Regarding the relationship between Charles and Lewis, I think Ferrari may be playing 5D Chess or something. In my opinion, apart from bringing a 7x WDC and one of the greatest to ever do it, they're bringing in a driver with loads and loads of experience, knowledge and, as you said, racing intelligence, and with Lewis being in the twilight of his career, he can (and I think will) pass this experience onto Charles and Ferrari as well. Lewis and Charles get along extremely well, we can see that all the time and I think that's why there won't be the "Hamilton-Rosberg" or even "Vettel-Webber" dynamic. And also, even though Lewis wants to win that 8th, I don't think it's the be-all or end-all for him anymore. In my view, Lewis already knows that he's achieved just about everything he could, so If he sees that he's just that tiny bit behind Charles (it can happen, don't you dare say it can't) and knowing Ferrari is essentially Charles' team for the next XY years, I think he would step up as great support for Charles in his charge for his WDC. (God, I hope that last part made sense as I intended it to xD) Anyway, I can't wait for next year to come. And this year as well, silly season is gonna be fun. PS: Congrats on your first property, good job!

Hamilton has no shy for challenges. He took it from his day 1 in F1 being paired an all-time great. I believe what Horner said about Anthony Hamilton talked with him about Lewis to drive for RBR was genuine. Ham wants a fast track to get #8. In this case, RBR is the way. That means he wanted to challenge Max not Leclerc. H/e, RBR refused to give him a seat. This Ferrari move is an alternation of it.

18:12 I don't think you need to worry about who is number 1 and who is number 2 in this driver line up because of the fact that as you said this is Leclercs team, And Hamilton has already achieved so much in his career that it's not like he's going to want to prove themselves, Both drivers have proven they are good enough, Leclerc isn't fighting for his place and neither is Lewis. The number 1 and 2 dynamic is only in place when you have 2 young drivers trying to solidify their place in the team, Trying to prove they belong, Safeguarding themselves from the threat of a fresh new prospect taking their place, If you look at the grid right now there is no one really likely to threaten for a Ferrari seat, They have a great academy full of drivers to step up when Lewis retires, They don't need to shop around and there is no one on a trajectory to threaten their seats. Sainz was only going to be replaced by a world class driver, All the other great drivers have a solid seat, Lando is at Mclaren alongside Piastri who has proved he is good enough but is also settling into Mclaren and might look for that Ferrari seat when Lewis retires, Verstappen is at Redbull, George is at Mercedes, Fernando is almost a like for like swap (Experienced Champion with plenty of pace/talent but getting towards the end of their career) Everyone else on the grid isn't close to the level of Leclerc & Hamilton so their seats are safe. Maybe in 3 years time 2027/2028 when you have the likes of Kimi Antonelli, Ollie Bearman and perhaps Victor Martins, Vesti and so on joining the grid then it might be tricky but until then I don't think they need to worry, Lawson is good but if he gets a seat at a top team it will be at Redbull (more than likely) Hope you all enjoyed the read!!

I think this move is not that big comparing to Michael's transfer from Benetton in 1995 (when he had won 9 races) to Ferrari (1 win in Canada that year). Quite a move by Lewis. I don't buy that it is a win-win for him. He doesn't need to take the risk but he did. LeClerc is the fastest man over a single lap and for a 40yo Lewis to put his reputation up like this is impressive. There is no doubt that there is degradation of skill as a pilot at this point. If he were to match or even beat Charles, this would be immensely impressive.

IMO, there's no way that Alonso gets the seat. He definitely still has it in him but he would be almost 44 by the time the seat is vacated and Toto likes stable line-ups. I would guess he is much more inclined to take known-quantity Sainz or promote Antonelli (most likely) to go along with George.
@Robalexe9 ай бұрын
Alonso is a more known quantity than Sainz. And Sainz would not make the line-up any more stable than Alonso would, because both of them would be there for a year or two before Antonelli is ready to step up. Speaking of, I don't think the idea of a driver who hasn't even driven about Formula Regional level yet would be the most likely contender for a top F1 seat next year. That sounds mad, despite how great Antonelli. We haven't even seen him drive an F2 race to know if he adapts quickly and challenges for the title or if he will need two years there due to the big jump of skipping F3. And at least a year for him in the Williams is a logical move too.

It isn't on my opinion exactly that big deal at the end. Hamilton can easily just drop any time when he wants as what he achieved and can try whatever he wants. Only thing he needs as he is just hungry for money as he needs bigger teams to backup. As Red Bull is gone because of Verstappen and now only like Astom Martin and Ferrari could be options. I would not see him with Alonso as that combination sucked before and it would not be good even now. This is basically same kind surprise jump as Nico Rosberg leaving the whole F1 as it was surprise to Mercedes as well. It was kinda obvious as winning once against Hamilton was enough to him. Of course other things were there but being second driver isn't most likely to everyone.

If Hamilton hadn't taken this chance now, he would have found the doors closed later on with him at the end of his contract and Mercedes dictating all his options. Also were it not for Lewis, Ferrari would have been 2nd in the championship. In football, you would buy that key player rather than have him playing against you. The fact of the matter is Ferrari will have seen the contributions made by Hamilton to bring on the car, and they know they'll need that kind of experience and driver feedback, developing the 2026 car. Hamilton will be doing what he did when he joined Mercedes a year before the hybrid rules change.

Now with horner accused of abuse even newey would wanna join ferrari and finally make 2 of his wishes come true, to work with ferrari and Lewis

Supported Ferrari since the Schumacher era and I have never been more excited about a driver joining our team ever

Charles will beat Lewis in 2025 and they will tie in 2026 and the. Lewis will retire...you heard it hear first

I hope so. Imagine if Lewis beat Charles in 2025...

Soon you'll realize charles is better than you think
@johnrhule34899 ай бұрын
Nah Charles cannot beat the very experienced Lewis. Well ok maybe sometimes, but not most of the time. By the way, the Ferrari last year was better than the Mercedes and Lewis came 3rd in the championship and 2nd in the constructors where was Charles?
@greenfj14669 ай бұрын
@@johnrhule3489 just because the ferrari had more highs doesnt make it better than mercedes lol,ferrari had twice the amount of lows that mercedes had and experience is not all you need to win a championship,pace matters and leclerc is one of the fastest in race pace and definitely the fastest in quali pace,sure hamilton is just as fast if not very slightly better than leclerc rn in race pace(According to the media bullshit)but i think thats false since whenever leclerc has had a car he likes he has been amazing in everything

This is great news for red bull, since having hamilton is now considered a curse and not a blessing, Mercedes has been ran into the ground. Now ferrari. However this does mean that the competitive scene will be skewered making redpoll the sole tip tier team, followed by Mercedes and then ferrari. MAX MAX MAX!!!

I'm not sure why Russell gets any positive commentary. He never had a single stand out race at Williams. He had nine nice races at the start in 2022 while Hamilton got his head together/Mercedes got their car sorted a bit. The only reason he won Brazil '22 was because Verstappen went back to racing Hamilton like he did in 2021. I think Mercedes are in a world of hurt and that they'll throw bags of cash at Alonso, because a high profile name is all they can get right now.
@Kifuqwerty9 ай бұрын
Thats just dumb i agree with russel not being the next champion i dont rate him very high but saying he didnt have a single stand out race is far fetched. There is a reason why Mercedes took Russell if he didnt perform he wouldnt be in one of the best seats in F1
@F1jones9 ай бұрын
@@Kifuqwerty yet you offered not one race to refute my claim. Rebuttals don't get dumber than that, son. Moreover, I know that there's a reason Russell was hired. Probably because he was one of those under Wolff's management at one time. Same as most drivers got rides with Briatore-managed teams when he managed them. That doesn't explain why he's been so lackluster in races at Mercedes, same as he was at Williams.

Leclerc is a bit overrated in my opinion. He choked a couple of times battling Max in 2022
@ttronan9 ай бұрын
You gave all the reasons except the most basic one, which is that Hamilton is in his final years and sainz’s contract runs out this year. So this was the best time to fulfill his dream of finally driving for Ferrari. And the timing couldn’t have been better as you have already said before because Ferrari is more closer to Mercedes now and less error prone under vasseur. Also do make a video on the Andretti rejection. It’s a matter of shame for f1 and Motorsports.

This has been brewing for a long time. I believe Mercedes thought he had no other option and weren't willing to commit to him anymore. This happens to all great drivers, even Schumacher got pushed out despite all he did for them. Mercedes will fall off similar to Mclaren when Lewis left.
@driver87039 ай бұрын
I think Ferrari are committed to Charles but I wouldn’t say it’s team. Ferrari is Ferrari and no one driver bigger than that. It was different with Michael because he brought his old team with him so it really was his team. It is back to being Ferrari having drivers and Charles has not really taken the command of the team, he’s still much too reliant on them.

With Toto Wolff of Mercedes not the only one to realise the serious longterm ramifications of Hamilton going to Ferrari in 2025. The 'brain drain' from Mercedes to Ferrari is already an issue. 'Bono' might go too . . . And that's just the start of denuding Mercedes. John Elkann, Chairman of Ferrari (who takes the credit for capturing Sir Lewis), won't waste any time in reminding the brilliant Adrian Newey, that he can get to work with Hamilton as he wished . .especially as his wife now fancies living in sunny Italy. Could be Hamilton has judged the time right, just as he did in moving from McLaren to Mercedes.
@erikahuxley9 ай бұрын
I see very little chance of Adrian going anywhere, because money isn't the issue for him, but the space and freedom that RedBull allowed him, keeping him out of the drama and politics and just let him do his things. Ferrari environment is the opposite of that.

I started watching F1 in 2020, and 2021 was an amazing season. I watched every race. Since then? It has gotten more and more boring to watch. It is so predictable, that I'm actually subconsciously rooting for mechanical failures, failed pit stops, or accidents for things to happen. I now understand why people got bored between 2014 and 2020, every race was 50-70 Lewis Hamilton victory laps. Now it is Max. Hopefully something changes and there is real competition. As far as racing goes, INDYcar slaps F1 two ways from Tuesday at the moment.

I started paying attention to F1 in 1960 when I was racing karts at 13yo. We had to wait 3 months for race results to come out in Road&Track.
