The fact you have to be scared to speak about the charter speaks volume and tells you everything you need to know Take your ball and go home is what I’m hearing
@mattdyer4893 ай бұрын
Brads answers to the questions about the charters told you everything that anyone needs to know. Dude looked straight up worried the whole time he was talking. It couldn't be any more obvious that nascar was strong arming the teams, and the big teams caved. I personally think MJ and Denny are setting up a lawsuit against Nascar. Which is absolutely genius on their part. That would force Nascar to make their Financials public. That would end up putting the teams and Nascar on a much more even playing field for the next charter negotiations.

I agree with the idea of getting rid of the stage break. Not only are the cautions at the end of the stages causing potential fuel mileage derbies at places in the race where that used to not even be in anyone's mind, but another thing that happens is that the teams and drivers really no longer have to set up a car to go a full fuel stop, because the teams just split what would be an 80-lap run into two 40-lap sprints. I know when I first began watching the sport at the end of the 80s, one of the skiils a driver had to have was to be able to make his tires last a full 100-mile fuel run on the intermediate tracks, or possibly a run as long as 120 laps on a short track, because you never knew when you'd get a caution (or if you'd get a caution, because they once ran over 300 consecutive laps at Atlanta without a caution in 1990, and caution-free races were run at North Wilkesboro in 1992, Michigan in 2000, and it happened three times at Talladega from 1997-2002). But the stage breaks have taken that particular requirement of drivers away.
@YouTubeAuditor13 ай бұрын
Stage cautions will likely remain. When Charlotte was levigated in 2005, Lowe's paid NASCAR to ban testing so the 48 could hold private tire sessions at their home race track, resulting in competitors tires failing every 20 laps in the race. Stage cautions prevent full green flag runs, and thus full tire wear. It's a terrible solution that causes more problems than it fixes, but that's modern NASCAR for you.
@cjs831723 ай бұрын
@@KZbinAuditor1 And even worse at Charlotte that year was the fact that, during the Coca-Cola 600, which set a series record for caution flags, the track began tearing up, which may have been a primary cause for the issues in both Charlotte races that year, and there simply wasn't enough time between the 600 and the fall race to do a complete repave, which they ended up doing after the 500-mile race at Charlotte that fall (I suspect those problems may have started in the fall race in 2004, which was also tire failure and crash-marred). But the lack of having to prepare for the possibility of long runs actually takes one tool away from certain drivers and crew chiefs, who would be acknowledged masters of saving their tires for when the guys that run hard back up to them on a long run, because they only run about 60-70% of a fuel and tire run in many races now.

Denny is overvaluing his team. What does NASCAR have to gain by giving up power and control? It’s their business built from the ground up by 1 single family. They DO NOT have to give it away. This is a socialist view point. Like the workers in the factory should make what the owners make or much closer to it. No, the person who had the idea, made the idea work deserve the profits. The fact you put the erasers on doesn’t give you a foothold into profit sharing. And, they d whole idea that it’s not profitable. Has anyone seen Dennys home? Airspeed? If drivers are getting rich, and they are, I would certainly think the owners are as well. Joe Gibbs looks pretty well fed. Jeff Gordon and HMS that reportedly don’t turn a profit, where did he get all that money from? If racing isn’t directly profitable, then why are so many investors investing? Why would Denny get into ownership? Just looking to lose all of his career earnings? Or do they want to do what Jordan did and buy into an NBA franchise for a few million abd sell in for a few Billion?
