As a former Public Relations employee with the WFT I can tell you that this stadium is an utter embarrassment. I used to deliver stats to team owners and in front of their “luxury suite” used to be buckets on the floor catching water coming in through the ceiling. Employees were forced to park in an often muddy field over a mile from the stadium and walk. Many of these employees were elderly game day staff who were handicapped and not allowed to park close to the stadium. This franchise is an utter mess and working on the inside helps you understand even more why

Actually, the goal was to build the stadium in Laurel, MD, in order to commandeer Baltimore's market. In fact, Paul Tagliabue undermined the Baltimore's expansion effort in the early 90s in an attempt to get state and local officials to go along with it. This ended up backfiring and was probably a big reason why Baltimore was willing to work with Art Modell to move the Browns.

As a lifelong Washington fan, Dan Snyder has soured just about all the love for the team that I had left. And I'm not alone in the sentiment. The man has exploited the once diehard fanbase and milked it for all it's worth, trying whatever he can to placate what's left of the loyalty people have for the team. To top that off, the franchise and the stadium that he owns are quite literally falling to pieces and Snyder appears like he could care less, as he uses both as his piggy bank. Does he care opposing fans take over home games? Nope. Does he care about declining attendance? Nope Does he care his franchise is a scandal-ridden mess? Nope Does he care about properly rebranding the team to attract new fans? Nope Does he care about attracting good players and coaches? Nope The ambivalence and contempt of this man is astounding. Snyder is blind to the fact that the franchise is dying and more so than anyone else, the responsibility lies with him.

Fed Ex doesn't even have history going for it, the Redskins have sucked the whole time they played there. Did the place even ever host a playoff game? @@tastyneck Also, builders and contractors. Some are better than others and quality of work shows most over time - the Oakland Coliseum was built in the mid-60's when construction was still paid like the skilled profession it is and the cost of building materials meant they could build it tougher than what someone could afford per square foot adjusted for inflation nowadays. Then there's also blatant fraud which has happened before, scummy builders and contractors using cheaper materials than they should or even stuff they shouldn't use in the first place. Frankly a stadium should last a solid 40-50 years with proper maintenance before needing a major overhaul or experiencing the beginning of serious if not catastrophic damage if left unchecked. Longer if whoever owns it really gives a damn about it and doesn't mind spending the money to ensure their investment maintains value. There's really not any excuse to let shit get this bad at all to begin with by this point in its lifespan to be honest.

Look up the Hillsborough disaster. That’s how bad things can get when things are poor stadium infrastructure and gross negligence when it comes to fan safety. I’m not saying the FedEx field is close to that, but it is only a matter of time before someone gets seriously hurt if they don’t do anything about it. You know what happened following the hillsborough disaster? They got rid of standing terraces in all stadiums for the top two tiers of English football. They wanted to make sure nothing like that ever happened again. The Washington football team’s callous attitude towards the copious safety hazards around their stadium is concerning to say the least.
@madddog6790
@madddog6790 2 жыл бұрын
It wasn't the terraces that were the problem, really, it was the metal fences they put up to keep the fans off the field. I spent a few years in The Shed at Stamford Bridge. One match, a whole train load of Man U fans got there first (wonder no one got killed haha), and about every 10 minutes they'd push the crowd in front of them. You'd literally get picked up off your feet and pushed about 10 or so feet down the terrace. Frightening, but with no fence, the guys down front were able to hop the rail and get on the pitch if they needed to. Trapping the fans in that kind of situation by putting up a fence like that was criminal.

I've been going since they build it. Where do I begin. Half the issue with parking is that the parking staff doesn't seem trained and doesn't stop the pedestrians to let people who parked there leave. You used to be able to park at several lots including the old Cap Center and get a Metro bus shuttle but I believe the Team didn't want to pay for it anymore. So people now pay $30-$40 to walk 20 mins (uphill btw) just to get to the stadium. Traffic wise there are major county roads that surround the stadium that don't have anyone directing traffic and people are stuck with just the traffic lights. Inside the stadium. The seats just got cupholders about 5 years ago. The jumbotrons in the endzone were initially 3/4s advertisements. They sold seats in the lower level on the visitor side with obstructed views (including one directly behind a pole) where you can't even see the scoreboard. The sound is awful. Oh and those seats that they removed are just sitting in piles in the parking lot. There is a lot more but this is already too much.

I'm a Green bay Fan, and seeing this makes me disgusted. I mean we have Lambeau, predominantly concrete and bleachers for fans plus box seats, but seeing the amount of work that the organization puts into our stadium to keep it in working order and still working is insane and honestly makes me appreciate that aspect even more. Considering it opened in 1957 it has had multiple renovations and expansions. Plus the stock sales that happened this year generated so much revenue that they're going to plug into stadium upkeep and renovations projects. parking at Lambeau can be a nightmare though due to its location, but fans, residents, and businesses open their lots for fan parking. Price varies on location, I've paid $20 to be just a block or two away, or $10 to walk a fair distance. Plus the team offers shuttles at various locations around Northeast Wisconsin. I get that every team and ownership scenarios are different, but you see the effort any one franchise puts into their stadium as opposed to how Snyder and Washington handles it is night and day. It shows how cheap and how little ownership cares about the fans and franchise as a whole. For any fan who enjoys going to games at their teams stadium, always appreciate the fact that it will always be better than Washington Great video as always Five! Plus you can rent seat cushions with back rests for $8. Plus most of the time people are standing. The other at I went I had 3 pant layers and was alright when I sat. LOL it is cold though

I guess I don't care about tradition, but I admit I hate Lambeau. I've been there. Bleachers in freezing temps is so subpar in a league like the NFL. Lambeau is outdated and old. I'm a big fan of modernizing like what the Vikings and Colts did with their new stadiums. Absolutely beautiful.

Hey fivepoints there was another issue at fedex field I went to the week 2 game against the giants and I had tickets to the top floor. It was already bad enough that we had to walk up these long ramps at the side of the stadium and by the time I got to seat it was 7-0 giants. To make things worse there are a piece of glass that looked like it was broken off. I never fell there but the security was me and the people around to not lean on the glass around it

I’m not an Eagles fan (Go Bears!), but that letter by Jalen Hurts has fucking class. The best part of the letter is that Hurts acknowledged the fans first, the media second, and himself last. That’s the mark of a good person right there, irregardless of personal achievement. Even if his stats never justify it, that truly puts him up there for consideration of the HoF, in my book.

RFK staduim may have been old but the two times I went during my summer internship at both libary of congress and FDIC to see DC united (even though I am Red Bull supporter) I wanted to see sports in general it was in good condition and not collapsing. Fedex field should be OSHA'd or condemed to not have visitors, at least Nats Park, Captial One Arena, Audi Field (new home for DC united) are better than fedex field.

Dan Snyder is the worst owner in the NFL currently. With that being said Dan is in a lot of trouble off the field too. So he might have to sell the team sooner rather than later.

I assure you one of the Lions, Texans, Jaguars or Jets will win a Super Bowl before Dan Snyder does any of that.

@@kevindao1103 for an organization as dysfunctional as the Lions, their stadium is setup very nicely. Downtown location within walking distance of many of the key city attractions and hotels. Detroit transit is very limited but does have routes near the stadium. Built into an old warehouse with no bad seats. Although I must admit, the Vikings stadium also looks impressive.

I'm going to honest, I know people who used to go to RFK back in the day when it was still the Skin's stadium, and for a "cookie cutter" it had personality and was fun to go to. It probably still had another 5 or 10 years left. If they had even 5 more years at RFK into lets say the 2000 season, they could have built a far better and more modern stadium in the early 2000s that would not have been as bad as Fed Ex Field.

Unfortunately, Jack Kent Cooke was determined to gobble up all the Baltimore fans after the Colts left. The stadium was supposed to be built in Laurel, which is equidistant between Baltimore and DC and would have put up a bunch of barriers to Baltimore getting a new team. It didn't help that Paul Tagliabue was willing to screw over Baltimore to help Cooke get his way.
