I've been kicking around the idea of giving the Gingery Lathe project myself. I'm a school teacher (Social Studies and English), who got into metal casting just to film the making of a Bronze Age sword. While trying to get better at that sword, I started casting other things. I like your channel (and Paul's Garage, Windy Hill Foundry, and Lundgren Bronze Studios). I appreciate those channels that are willing to show the difficulties and mistakes that happen along the way. Back to the lathe project, I have some 3D prints ready to go. Maybe I'll take the plunge. Thanks again for your channel!!!

I'm at the tail end of my first engine model build, it's a 7 cylinder radial engine. Just a representational model, not a replica. I'm making it out of cardboard & wood. I did a couple of pre-apprenticeship courses but never got an apprenticeship. "If you have a go, it's amazing what you find you can do" Thanks Mate, I really needed to hear that. I'll keep that in mind in my journey.

Great message Alan. 100% agree. I have zero training too, and "having a go" is the only option some of us have. Thanks for sharing.

your having a go at this, so I can enjoy watching it(because no shed to work on something big), and I can have a go at something smaller
