I wish Bryan all the best. He seems like a very pretty decent guy and is handsome too. May he meet all the right kind of friends there and not be taken advantage of by anyone. But he seems like an intelligent and educated man so I think he will have success in meeting the right people.

If he's truly intelligent as you say, believe me, he won't be scammed. Only the dummies do.

Nice video, but why are there 16 commercial breaks for a 16-minute video?

Very informative. May we request for more questions about how they handled healthcare coverage in the Philippines specifically for those coming from the U.S. who are below Medicare age? Looking forward to future videos!
@briangc19725 ай бұрын
There are several insurance options out there at below US pricing. Medicare does not cover anything in the Philippines. If you are planning to stay long term, look at opting out of Medicare and paying the penalty to opt in later if you move back to the USA. If you never go back, why pay for Medicare? It is useless and worthless in the Philippines.

@@briangc1972 thanks for the reply. To clarify, my question was for those who have not yet reached Medicare age in the US and thus, will also lose healthcare coverage if they leave their work. Maybe that's Brian's situation when he left CA and if so, what kind of insurance coverage did he get that covers him in the Philippines, preferably St Luke's in BGC, and perhaps the US if he plans to visit for short periods in the future?

He barely touched on it, but it is a HUGE issue that many can not adjust to. The poverty in 90% of the Philippines is more than anyone can imagine. Until you see it first hand, you have no idea of how impoverished the majority are. Most do not have running water in their homes. Almost none have hot water. Almost none have showers or flush toilets. The majority of toilets are bowls that you pour water from the bucket to flush your business. A shower for many is a 1 liter ladle poured over their head. Many homes have only 1 bedroom, CR, and the rest of the house is a combination kitchen, dining, family room. All in 35 square meters or less (15 feet by 22 feet for those who failed math). Manila, BGC, Davao, and a few other cities have a middle class with running water, but still no hot water. Over 70% of hotels throughout the islands have no hot water or air con. Many have shared bathrooms. You rent a room and you share the CR with 2 or 3 other rooms which can be as many as 10 or 12 people. Electric outages outside of the 3 mentioned cities are a weekly occurrence and a normal part of daily life. Driving is another topic that would require twice the the number of words of what I just wrote; that would be a basic primer on driving here. Most cannot adjust to it or deal with it. Many go back after a much shorter time than they planned. Before cashing in everything in the US, go visit for a month. Then go back and visit for 3 months to see if it really is the paradise that you imagine. For most, it is not. The change from spoiled American to 3rd world reality is too great.

Be tough to do a three-month trip as I'm still working not retired. I can retire there but can't lose my job for test drive...

Its good that you as an expat and a tourist before knew more about the Philippines which many expats failed to have informations in deciding to live in a certain country like the Philippines that later on made lots of regrets. While the Philippines is a very beautiful country with lots of awesome sceneries, beautiful cultures and wonderful people where hospitality and friendly attitudes yet we Filipinos doesn't say that its a perfect paradise because there are a lot of laid back states as compared to the wests. Having lots of info needed an expat must first visit the place and have many options where to live and how to live to make your budget suits. And by the way a person coming to the country must have that mindset of adjustments so that you will not become frustrated on the situations. Yes our country is belong to the developing world but a notch higher than a 3rd world category as define by the IMF and the World Bank. One thing that i notice a failed expats is their failure to integrate, embrace the cultures and have lots of expectations and are always comparing the best thing in the Ist world coyntry that makes them failed.

It really isn't. You just wrote a dissertation on how you don't like showering in cold water. Guess what, make more money and boom you can get hot water. This KZbin channel is geared towards people who make at least $2k a month which gives even the most disabled great living conditions. The philippines isn't paradise but most people living in the u.s. who are retired and not making much money will still have better living conditions here than anywhere in the u s.

@@briangc1972 what year you are referring with your poverty incidence of the Philippines sir that figures of 90 % is so so unbelievable. Pls do check online on google the data because you are exaggerating things and to be prcise the latest 2023 poverty incidendence is 24% .
@okamsug5 ай бұрын
Hmm, you are exaggerating way too much. You are just making up numbers with no real and valid data. 90% poverty rate? Sure, the Philippines is a developing country but your description of things are just way off base. And you are so obsessed with hot water......., in a tropical country? When I was there I had no need for hot water as I preferred a cool a refreshing cool shower. And every city and town in the Philippines have middle class population. What the heck are you talking about.

I like your content but calling BGC a "city" is a bit misleading it is a district or neighborhood of Manila. When you look on google maps satellite view it is a tiny spec surrounded by Manila the whole area from McKinly Pkwy north where its nice is only about 300 acres of land...
@just_another_bot01105 ай бұрын
It isn't misleading you're just comparing it to your own country. That's like calling whatever city you live in and comparing it to say los angeles. Bonifacio Global City
@decadentia845 ай бұрын
There is a difference between Old Manila, and Metro Manila... What you said above is even more misleading. Metro Manila is made up of 16 cities. BGC isn't "surrounded" by Manila, it's a district in Taguig. Taguig itself is a city. Taguig is part of the NPR(Metro Manila), one of those 16 cities. BGC is so entirely different as a district, that often people do think of it as a city (heck, it has City in the name).
