Namaste: Hinduism is an Indian religion and dharma, or way of life, Hinduism has been called the oldest religion in the world, many practitioners refer to their tradition as Sanātana Dharma, "the eternal way" with ancient origins beyond human history, as revealed in the Vedas. Also known as Vaidika dharma, the 'dharma related to the Vedas. Hinduism includes a range of philosophies, and is linked by shared concepts, recognisable rituals, cosmology, pilgrimage to sacred sites and shared textual resources that discuss theology, philosophy, mythology, Vedic yajna, Yoga, agamic rituals, and temple building, among other topics, Hinduism prescribes the eternal duties, such as honesty, refraining from injuring living beings (ahimsa), patience, forbearance, self-restraint, and compassion, among others. Prominent themes in Hindu beliefs include the four Puruṣārthas, the proper goals or aims of human life; namely, Dharma (ethics/duties), Artha(prosperity/work), Kama (desires/passions) and Moksha (liberation/freedom from the cycle of death and rebirth/salvation), as well as karma (action, intent and consequences) and Saṃsāra (cycle of death and rebirth), One of the key thoughts of Hinduism is “atman,” or the belief in soul. This philosophy holds that living creatures have a soul, and they're all part of the supreme soul. Hinduism is more than a religion. It is a culture, a way of life, and a code of behavior. This is reflected in a term as described the Hindu religion: Sanatana Dharma, which means eternal faith, or the eternal way things are (truth). Hinduism, Buddhism, Jainism, Sikhism, are all DHARMA religions with its roots in Sanatana Dharma the oldest religion in the world, beyond human history, JAI hind.

Mr. Armstrong makes very relevant point of framing. The framing Christian Priests have propagated is that Hindus believe in Multiple Gods and are Idol worshippers. That has to be responded to in an equivalent manner. To begin with Hindus have made a disservice to themselves by adopting the notion of Abrahamic God into their vocabulary. There is no mention of the word “God” in Vedic scriptures and using that term results in a false equivalence. Even learned enlightened men like Radhakrishnan and Swami Chinmayananda and his followers have fallen into this trap. So to begin the response, the first sentence ought to be there is no God in Hinduism as defined by the Abrahamic belief. What we have are Devas and Devis who are Spirits with attributes. We can ask where are these spirits. We can also ask where is this God? Where is he, she or it is hiding. Unlike the one size fits all notion of God, the Sanatana Dharma belief system encapsulates many spirits. Let me turn the usual monotheism is superior to polytheism argument propagated by Christian and Muslim priests around. Sanatana Dharma is rich in symbolism and as explained earlier, has many Devas and Devis. Devas and Devis are Spirits with attributes. Both Christianity and Islam believe in Spirits. Sanatana Dharma has taken the belief in Spirits and identified many, many spirits. That is the richness of Sanatana Dharma. On the other hand the Abrahamic God is a one size fits all Spirit. Another false notion is that the simplified concept of a monotheist God, promotes unification among its believers. Really? Is that why there are so many sects among Christians and Muslims. On the other hand Sanatana Dharmis accept diversity among themselves, and accept the following. Those interested in money pray to Lakshmi. Those interested in Knowledge pray to Saraswati. Those who wish their problems solved pray to Ganapati. This takes away the issue of “my God, is more powerful than your God”. Now let’s add science to this discussion. Scientists, Atheists, Believers have to agree that the Universe appeared from nothing. Believers in God claim God created the Universe. OK then where is this God? Why is God hiding from us. However Scientists and Atheists will admit we don’t know the details of how, but we know it happened. Aha, says the Sanatana Dharmi, that unknown is Brahman. Not to be confused with Brahma. Everything we know and don’t know, everything that exists and will come to exist is Brahman. Both scientists and atheists have to agree that this cumulative set is of known and unknowns is Brahman. That’s it. There is no question of assigning attributes to Brahman. Dharmis don’t pray to Brahman. When there was nothing that “null” set was Brahman. Now the Universe as we know it and beyond is Brahman. But unlike the Abrahamic God, or for that matter Devas and Devis who have power to do things, Brahman just exists. See how powerful this is backed by scientific thinking?

How to fight back is the key Armstrong Ji. It's a challenge to say the least. Personally, I feel it is a blessing to have been born as a Hindu, because, one is so much closer to The Reality and the ultimate Truth. To fall into the trap of Abrahamic faiths and getting converted is like one is moving farther away from the Truth. It is sad to see the amount of proselytization in Bharat and to see so many people moving away from a wonderful culture and civilization. But, I am not giving up, however, people in the west are more receptive to listening to the narrative of Sanatana Dharma unlike the people from India who have been proselytized.

Namaskar! I live in the USA, and have lived here since the 1970s. After immigration was opened to non-whites in 1965, I guess I was among the first wave of immigrants! Anyhow, I have been just so appalled to see what powerful newspapers like the New York Times and Washington Post are doing, in terms of anti-India, anti-Modi rhetoric. In 1990, lakhs of Hindu Pandits were being brutalized, tortured, killed, and expelled from Kashmir, and not a word from these "wise" people. But a handful of Muslims get hurt in Delhi during riots, and these media writers are all up in arms. So I got to thinking: why, why, why this horribly unfair anti-Hindu rhetoric? Well, most of the anti-India columnists for the newspapers I mentioned, have Muslim names. They manage to get away with their anti-India nonsense. And the newspapers never bother to reach out to the Modi government for a response. These people are left-wingers. We must admit that these people despise right wing radical Christians as well, such as the Trump radicals. Any religion based radicals, these newspapers decry. So I assume that goes for Modi radicals who go around India attacking anyone suspected of cow slaughter. And yet you travel across India and you see neglected cows, emaciated and weak, barely alive, wandering the streets. Why are those poor cows allowed to suffer so? This is the sort of thing that the newspapers here focus on. Just so you know. I, for one, am so truly delighted to see an Indian government correcting the tragic anti-Hindu mistakes of the Congress government of the past several decades.

The reframing was an eye opener. The reframed offer made in return will be rebuffed, I’m guessing, because aggression is the intent behind western reframing of the vedic culture. So in the end it comes down to a dogfight, except that now hindus would be fighting as equals with equal entitlement based on dharma and not as angry victims.
