Hotels/Motels are way too expensive already. Last time we checked, it was over $160 for one night in a Motel 8 in Woodburn, Oregon. We RV'd instead, and it was a much nicer experience.

This was a really smart and strategic move on the part of the workers they picked the largest cities to do the strike in so if they do win and these companies try to move out these cities they be losing millions or even billions of dollars because they are moving out of the hottest cities in the US. They're not going to be making no money in Oklahoma if they try to move their business there 😂😂. Hotels have been getting away with cheap labor for decades and it's about time this happened. If they try to push the extra wage to the customers, then customers will choose to not fly to these cities and they will still lose millions of dollars. Can't wait to see how this ends.

I’ve always worked part time for Marriott so I can get the hotel discount. They are similar to the airline industry where the goal is to oversell every room to ensure maximum profits. They never increase the labor during these busy times so we are forced to deal with the angry customers who don’t get a room. I am blessed to have a full time job that pays my bills and not rely on Marriott. Good luck to those striking!

if your working at a place that dose not give you solid raises or meets your basic needs then you have to ask 3 questions. the 1st question being "why am i still here working for a company that will not pay me ?" . the 2nd question is "what did i do to get myself stuck working at a hotel?" the 3rd being "why did i not gain skills that are not easily replaceable?". i had issues finding a job until i became a machine operator and now i make good money with a company that pays a good wage for my area. choices matter in life and i would have been better off sooner if i picked up on that earlier.

@jewel The aftermath of actions like increasing the minimum wage for fast food workers serves as a perfect example. Businesses may end up closing or leaving the state, resulting in reduced hours for workers. Ultimately, the workers are the ones who end up losing.
