Why Hyperion by Dan Simmons is a MUST READ Masterpiece (Spoiler Free Review)

Hyperion by Dan Simmons is currently my favorite book of all time. In this spoiler free review video, I will be talking some of the reasons why I think it’s a must read for any sci-fi or fantasy fan.

Shoutout to the youtube algo for suggesting this to me. I'll have to check out this book! One suggestion though for the video: would love to know who the artists were for some of the artwork you show throughout the video. Maybe you can add credits for them in the description. I know some of them have signatures in the corner but the big background paintings you show don't.

Thank you so much! Yes, that's a great idea. A lot of the artwork came from DeviantArt and ArtStation so I'll get that added in next time. My favorite image comes from a new super expensive special edition from Curious King of the book coming out soon. I think it's around 700 bucks 🤯

The audiobook version (more of a theatre play really) was one of the most fun literary experiences I've had in my life.

If Tolkien didn't exist, I'd be right there with you heralding Hyperion as the best book of all time. it'll have to be content to hold down the 4th spot, though. It blew me away when I read it two years ago, and can't wait to delve in once again!

The most genius and at the same time annoying decision of Simmons was not giving us the Templar's tale. One of my favorite books of all time, thanks for covering this! I like the classical homeric implant Simmons uses, focusing on the travel rather than the destination. I read the first two books in three different languages.

Great vid as always! The first two books I consider as one - as was his intention but couldn’t due to publication limits. I think Sol Weintraub’s story is my favorite.

Heck yeah! I know book 3 and 4 get a lot of hate but I love them for their own separate reasons compared to Hyperion. Still fun and exciting reads!
