Thanks Wode Maya, I was arrested and detained in Gabon at the airport on a business trip with my CEMAC passport. Yes they locked me up and I spent the night in detention. I flew in on business class and ended up in detention at the airport with all the right documents, i guess i didnt just look like i was a business man. They said even with my CEMAC passport i still needed a visa. Its like you being detained in Cote d'ivoir with you ECOWAS psssport. Funny thing is while i was being harshly interogated, i counted 20 chines and 30 french who went in with no visa at all and they were greeted like Gods. Shame!!!!!!!!

@@messansegbonou1690 We must not save asking the real question: Why? Why do we treat in this way the one or the one we sometimes hasten to call Sister or Brother? One of the causes is the inking of the depreciation of self-esteem and therefore of the similar. This depreciation is the most aimed impact left by the mental tortures of slavery and colonization. Africans are still lost because no serious work of cultural reconstruction has been done. The schools resulting from colonization always have teachings thought out by colonial and neocolonial schools. We must therefore attack the roots of the evil. Mao's China had made its cultural revolution, other examples exist. We can find fault but the Chinese are now masters of their projects. Instead of depending on it absolutely, Africans must take from outside only what is necessary for reconstruction and seek within ourselves the means of African renaissance. "Educate or Perish" according to Joseph Ki-Zerbo. Getting out of other people's school, out of the cave where we have been locked up for several centuries is absolute imperative for young people 🙏🏾

It takes a good upbringing that teaches us history, our cultures and unity in diversity. UBUNTU ❤️ I'm not talking about the story that begins with colonial defeat and victimization. Not the one that only glorifies the cultures of slavers and settlers to make us love the neo-colonists. "Educate or Perish" according to Joseph Ki-Zerbo 🙏🏾

@@tbdan3793 I agree, but tribalism and dis trust of one another definitely played a part in why Africa is where it is today. It’s sad that Africans can’t even travel to African countries without being treated badly. As an African American woman who hopes to one day be able too come and live in the mother land. Situations like the one Wode maya goes through is disheartening and brings me to the thought of how tribal wars and dis trust , as well as trade with the Europeans brought my people to America.
@tbdan37932 жыл бұрын
@@chipmunkred1519 Yes, tribalism plays a role but not exactly the one we experience today. Europe also has ethnic groups and tribes. The difference is that their stories are written by Europeans, their stories are not written by Africans for example. The narrative that facilitated the genocide in Rwanda was German and above all Belgian. It magnifies traits of differences and not shared values for easy division and domination. How can a people who have the same language, the same dances and the same gods commit suicide until genocide? By adhering to the narrative manipulated by the colonizers (Belgians) or Neo-colonists (French). But, we have our own responsibility indeed because we continue to hate our true history, our cultures and the necessary intimate fight of mental liberation. Wars between ethnic groups existed before colonization but they ended in marriages, reconciliations because the extermination of the other ethnic group was prohibited in the majority of dominant African cultures. We are therefore condemned to ask ourselves the real questions and to give the right answers. This is why history is so important and the reform of the post-colonial educational system is necessary.

I just returned form to the US from Ethiopia. During our return flight there was a layover in Dublin Ireland. My family and children were stuck in an isolated section of the airport like prisoners for 9 hrs with no food and just on ration of water. I noticed that there were only a handful of whites and everyone else was African or diasporans. As I was standing there with the swelling crowd of discontent, I thought about the struggles of African travelers in this world of colonization and systematic oppression. My Queen advised that Ethiopian Airlines should have made sure that their customers would be taken care of. However, Dublin Airport treated paying customers like refugees, rationing water! I'm giving you this story to express the new found respect I have specifically for African and African diasporan travelers, RESPECT. 🙌🏿 Oh, believe I can't wait to return to the Motherland. I am glad that you are addressing this. I hear you always saying that you want to change the narrative about Africa and my question has always been, change the narrative to who exactly? We cannot worry so much about what outsiders think about our continent and fail to honestly address the self induced road blocks that we face as African within our very own continent. I have watched in my travels, so many of these officials unapologetically giving the Chinese and others, who are there to exploit, red carpet treatment but harass the heck out of fellow Africans.
As a West Indian-American, who has just retired , and who is ready to explore the African continent (I’ve already visited South Africa, Zimbabwe and now considering Ghana), this is so disheartening to hear. African countries need to stop pitting themselves against each other and come together to make Africa strong, independent, self-sufficient, and wealthy. It was the colonial mentality to divide and conquer you. If Africa unites as one, if will be a win win for all because with unity, comes strength. You have the manpower and natural resources to accomplish anything.

The only way to solve this problem is to perform research in each African country and find out the pressing issues and challenges as well as biases from some African countries against others. We can work on breaking these barriers by confronting and addressing these issues at the psychological level. This research should be led by visionary governmental leaders or private individuals with finance to establish the mitigating circumstances and provide practical and tangible solutions. Although talking, discussing, and making videos help in bringing the issues to the public domain and gradually bridging the gap, until comprehensive and holistic research is performed on a continental-wide scale and a combination of these various African nations' researches are collated, these issues will keep on happening over and over again in the long term. We have a long way to go in achieving the united African continent objectives.
