That is one of the best oils out there. It wasn't the oil that damaged your engine it was the sludge.

Ran my car really rough trying to install a throttle body, idled at 4000rpm for a while and became worried about the engine. Sounded scratchy. So I switched from synthetic to Royal Purple. She's running smooth now. Royal Purple is good stuff. Yeah, sometimes sadly, the grime and stuff in your engine, sometimes holds old seals together and what not... A lot of people have this problem when they suddely switch to synthetic.

I have a 2000 sienna with 375k. Supertech HM Syn blend for most of those miles. No leaks or funny noises. Eats about 1\2 a qt every 500-700 miles. I put royal purple in it once and it developed a noticeable tick. Drained it after a few drives and refilled with Supertech. Noise disappeared after 2 start ups.

Best advice that I could give anyone is to run Royal Purple or Mobil 1 oil in their car or truck depending on what kind of vehicle they have and only go 5,000 miles don't over do it buy going 15,000 miles because you will get engine sludge especially if you drive a lot in stop and go traffic and especially if you have a truck(Any Chevy 2001-2014 with a 5.3 or a 4.8 & Ram 2000-2016 1500 and up) change your oil more frequently it will save you money in the long run trust me i have a 2005 chevy tahoe LT 5.3 bought at 140,000 miles and only used mobile 1 but after ever oil change only running it about 2,800 miles it was 1qt always low and I know these types of chevy with higher miles are notorious for burning oil but for about a year this happened and 4 oil changes a year and I have no oil leaks what so ever and only driving it about 10,000 miles in the first year I purchase (Mobile 1 just didn't do well in my tahoe so I'm not knocking the brand down because I also have a 2006 lexus gs430 with 128,000 that I still use mobile 1 in) so then i switch to RP at the being of this year and I only do 2 oil changes a year now 2nd one I just did a week ago and noticed I'm not topping it off with oil like I did with mobile 1.. So again to me just put in your vehicle what you feel makes your car or truck run better just whatever you use make sure to check your oil level 1 time a month and change your oil more regularly then 10 and 15,000 with a vehicle with 90+ thousand miles if you want it to last and not have high repair cost.. Hope it helps

The new 0w 40 European blends are the best thing out for any car right now. Superior hot and cold protection. I run it in a 1.8t Volkswagen and a ecoboost Ford escape. Motul 8100 or Castrol edge euro. I wouldn't hesitate to run Royal purple as long as it meets VW 502.00 spec. I've ran it before in 5w30 and had no issues. Turbocharged motors have high oil demands. Lots of heat produced. Conventionals sludge up.

I've used royal purple twice, in my civic and BMW. Both cars run so smooth and so quiet. It kind of scares me when my engine is running bc it's so quiet that it me makes me think my engine is off. Engine will definitely feel it's running more freely with less resistance. I've used many different synthetics, and no one comes close. I can say it's the best oil I've experienced so far. The down side about royal purple is the price, too expensive !!

I live in North east Canada and it gets cold in the winter. -20 to -30. Fot this reason i was thinking about going to 0w30. I know its still a w30 oil but was worried about the oil being to thin and posibly leaking, Maybe if i did half 5w30 and half 0w30 it wold make a 2.5w30 LOL
@caseysgarage59916 жыл бұрын
I wouldn't worry too much about going from 5w30 to 0w30 in extreme cold, it'll be thicker on start up and the correct viscosity at operating temp. Probably wouldn't do it during the summer months though

Casey's Garage weird. I used to run royal purple in my civic si and ran that car hard every 3,000k miles I changed it, it came out purple and barely even darker than it went in. My current car I run Mobil 1 in which is what it came from the factory with I think its a good oil but it comes out black as a cloudy moonless night when I change it. I'm sure the fact that it runs through a hot turbocharger has something to do with that

I have always use Pennzoil since I was 16 years old I have never experienced an engine problem related to the lubricating oil I think a lot of the other products or just advertising hype these improvements and synthetics aren't really totally necessary unless you're driving a turbocharged or supercharged engine regular passenger car engine regular if you add a quart of Marvel Mystery Oil was it because that prevents sludge formation and clean the inside of the engine
@caseysgarage59916 жыл бұрын

I usually run royal purple in everything besides my lawn mower. Only vehicle I didn't run rp in was my 84 Chevy dually with the 454. Reason being is that with the age of the engine and type I thought it would be best to try the Quaker State 50/50 recycled oil. Great oil in that engine but everything else gets rp because I've been using it almost 15 years and was getting 12k mile intervals years before it was advertised. I also use rp in my ar, makes cleanup a breeze and sucks the carbon of the metal

can you read a bottle of oil? It says change your oil per manufacturers owners manual. That means read the normal service conditions. Then the one under "extreme" conditions. Hell you didn't even know. Putting Synthetic in an old beater was asking for trouble. As it all that cheap oil over the years makes seals\gaskets hard. Not to mention carbon buildup is what is holding all the oil back from passing your rings and valve seals. So word to be wiser. Pull a damn valve cover off. If it's black. Don't even try and use synthetic. You will find every leak in your engine real fast! Been there and done that. As pulling an engine and replacing all those Seals. Rings and Gaskets is not fun. Unless you're getting paid for it!

I've heard this same testimony from another youtuber about royal purple, I use royal purple in my 2015 Toyota Tacoma for over a year now and never had a single problem with it! I change the oil every 10,000 and the oil stays at the exact level on the dipstick as the day I poured the oil in the engine, no oil burning whatsoever! The Tacoma has a 4.0 liter V6 in it, engine runs smooth and water temperature stays cooler than other oils in the motor! The truck has 49,000 miles on it, I plan on using royal purple 5W-30 oil in it for as long I own the truck! I hope I'm making a good decision doing this! I plan on driving the truck many years, at least for the next 10 years!

You’re absolutely right, the sludge and varnish seeps into the seals, and once you put something in (most synthetic oil) it will remove the sludge and varnish, and in turn can dissolve parts of your seals creating leaks. Royal purple is fantastic, I use it in everything, all of my fluids are royal purple including my diff fluids. I love it. But it wasn’t without trial and error. My 97 Chevy started leaking like a dog stuck inside after switching. I had to replace the oil cooler lines and all that fun stuff because the royal purple are the sludge. But when you opened the oil cap you could look down under the valve cover and on this quarter million mile truck that had pennzoil run in it most of its life, the rockers and valve springs looked brand new, whereas they used to be covered in sandy looking sludge. Also I went from 11mpg to 15 in that old Z71 suburban. Well worth the extra cost.

After I did my cam break-in with the Lunati break-in oil on my Lunati 10200701 hydraulic flat tappet cam in my 68 barracuda with a little 318, I only run Royal Purple HPS 20w50. I developed a rear mainseal leak due to the fact that the seal was forty-six or so years old and the old dino-oil sludge acted as a seal. The synthetic oil cleans out all that old sludge, as Casey's Garage discussed. The fault lies with dino-oil hiding, or covering up potential problems that need to be fixed anyways. I run a 195* thermostat to keep temps high enough to eliminate/evaporate the water that is a combustion byproduct and gets past the rings from building up in the pan. I do _NOT_ run an oil cooler for the engine. With my new 727 transmission, I run a B&M oil cooler, in addition to the cooling that is done by the radiator. I use Royal Purple ATF. The only reason that I'm using Lucas gear oil instead of Royal Purple in my Dana 60 is because it came from Strange with it. With my (new) 1991 360LA engine build, I will also be running Royal Purple, whether I go with a hydraulic roller cam, or a solid flat tappet cam. Keep your build clean, pay attention to clearances, seals, rings, torque specs, et cetera and you will be fine. Remember to use the appropriate oil for your cam.

I think royal purple works best in engines with close tolerances in bearing and piston spaces! Due to the oil being so thin! If you have bad piston rings, you'll burn more oil with royal purple than other oils. May try using a thicker viscosity royal purple oil, like 10W-40 or 15W-50

About 4 to 5 oz of Blue Devil seal conditioner / stop leak, along with a bottle of cd2 would have probably help the seals quite a bit and kept that motor running for as long as the motor would have liked to run. Remember the Blue Seal Oil Stop is very aggressive and has to be used any no more than a ounce per quart.

I want to make sure everyone understands that when you take an engine that may have not been properly maintained. Or only had conventional oil used in it. With synthetics and I can't stress this enough true all synthetic oil that's 100% synthetic. This oil removes varnish and sludge buildups and keeps it emulsified so that the filter can actually get pick it up but then it also reveals what the conventional oil did and that's premature wear out of your engine in respect to valve guides seats cam bearings crank bearings piston pins and the like. But true 100% synthetics like Amsoil have the highest film strength at 188,000 lbs per square inch. Above all other synthetic oils on the market. That film strength also helps fill the gaps in the wear out as long as it's not excessive. And remember your labeling of your oil if it says full synthetic that does not mean it's 100% synthetic. In the court case between Castrol and Mobil 1 the judge decided that any petroleum oil that contains a minimum of 25% the synthetic content can be labeled as a full synthetic. So unless the oil specifically says 100% synthetic or manufactured from group 4 or group 5 p a o or Esther's it's not 100% synthetic. So if you're going to pay the high dollar for the high quality synthetic oil you might as well go with the 100% true synthetic. Do your homework and don't be ignorant and just believe what a label says. The petroleum companies have been ripping consumers off for too many years don't let him do it to you. Also very important here Amsoil was the first true 100% synthetic oil certified by the American petroleum institute. Check this out from project farm kzbin.info/www/bejne/e2PdhGuDrtt9rrc

If you have a high mileage car and have been using conventional oil, DO NOT switch to Royal Purple Synthetic. It cleans away gunk and deposits in you engine and that gunk is most likely the only reason your car or truck didn't burn oil. If you have always used synthetic or your car is very new/highly maintained you should be ok.

this is gospel. if it has built up sludge from the dino oil over the years you dont want to go full synth. stick to dino and keep the engine happy..

So false a wives tail no evidence to back it up. True synthetics break down buildup from use of conventional. This is why Amsoil stresses a engine flush before installing a 100% synthetic like Amsoil signature series. Unlike royal purple that is not 100% synthetic.

My suggestion for owners of high mileage vehicles is that if you decide to use Royal Purple then after using it the first time you should change the oil again after 500 to 1,000 miles. Get the sludge and dirt that it has cleaned out of the engine and put fresh Royal Purple oil back in. I've done this and had zero issues with a Jeep Wrangler with over 200 thousand miles on it and it runs like new with no leaks and doesn't burn oil at all.

Gets rid of some noises, engine runs way smoother, etc. I run the HPS version because my car is out of warranty and as long as you are not burning any oil, it won't damage your catalytic converter at all even with twice the zinc it has...1600ppm vs 800 ppm for warranty issues.

Changed out oil again with fresh RP, and a #KNoilfilter, oil was BLACKER THAN BLACK as it cleaned out sludge build up. This time I added a bottle of #STP High Milage oil treatment with STOP LEAK, zero issues going forwad. No oil leaks, no smoking, no engine noise, improved gas mileage, more power, longer oil change intervals & my engine ran cooler!! 💯 I'm sold on #RoyalPurple!

The pep boys manager was like damn never seen a 06 hummer 200 000 miles look this good. Even though it was leaking oil. Now I know its going to ride so much better now. I’ve always wanted to use Royal Purple in my cars but I could never justify the price over other products. I’ve always done oil changes before they were due. I just bought a new Chevy Silverado & a few months later a speed sensor went out & the truck would sometimes shift hard or not shift into overdrive. Sometimes there wasn’t any throttle response. So I decided I needed a transmission fluid upgrade. Just started using Royal Purple & changed out the speed sensor as well. Shifts like a dream!!

Having a protective film in case of emergency is a great thing, but keep in mind that engine oil does so much more than just lubricate. Engine oil is the first place that heat gets transferred to, and so running without engine oil will cause hot spots in the engine fast. Keep in mind that I am in no way recommending running an engine without oil, I'm saying that in the event of an oil leak, Royal Purple makes it so that you don't have to rebuild your engine.
