Why I Am Not Going On The Inaugural Cruise For Utopia Of The Seas

You made the right decision. Money is better spent on a new ship after the squawks have been worked out. Inaugural cruises are exciting but few videos show that the experience lives up the hype due to break-in problems in both private and public areas.

Thanks, John! Totally agree, you hear from a lot of folks after the inaugural cruises about what was good and what wasn't great, and then everyone afterwards learns about those hiccups and then it makes them have an even better experience. I am doing the same for Star of the Seas (not going on the inaugural, for many reasons) but will go on it down the road. I think I've come to the realization that I don't need to be one of the firsts to go on a brand new ship, as long as I go on the ship at some point in time, whenever in the future :) Now if the cruise line invites me for content purposes, I would be open to going of course but those invitations aren't always guaranteed :)

I completely agree with you. Icon inaugural was amazing. As expensive as it was, it was a new ship class. We’re going on Utopia in early August and the rate was a lot less than the first couple of sailings in July.

Wise decision! Glad you didn’t succumb to the fear of missing out. There are some sailings with better prices now; hope you can find one you like. And if you’re interested in the President’s Cruise, they already announced it for Sept 22, 2025 in the Utopia of the Seas! Keep having fun and thanks for sharing great content!

I will be going in mid January so hopefully all will be functioning! My friend Angela will go on her with her son because I have a wedding in Syracuse NY so I can’t afford both. She goes labor Day weekend. You made a good decision!

I almost did not book Utopia because it was also more than I paid for an ocean view balcony on icon. I guess I booked at the right time because of the sales going on but I was able to get a b2b ocean view balcony on Utopia for under 3k. I would wait to book though and hopefully the prices will be better.

Very true. Summer can be expensive, not to mention July in the Caribbean is unbearable, so hot and humid! I'd only go if I was invited by Royal Caribbean lol.

Totally cool, Lauren! I am happy to save over $5000 (including airfare and hotel) and will go some other time with my fam :) As much as I love cruising solo, nothing beats cruising with my wife and daughter.
