Just 3 years ago I turned 30, and what better way to celebrate my maturity then to buy a 30 year old Station wagon! My dream come true in its simplest form! This ‘89 Electra Estate wagon represents lots of childhood memories for me and gives me tons of fun when I drove it around. Probably one of my most annoying cars to my wife because she hates all the attention we get wherever we go! What is your childhood favorite? Let me know in the comments

Since the wagon has the Buick chrome road wheels which IMO dresses up any Buick, I wouldn't change them, it looks just fine

I actually understand the wagon deal... my professor in college had a 95 Roadmaster Limited dark metallic cherry w/ wood and I thought it was great... she called me up my junior year and asked if I wanted it for a grand... this was in 2005 and it had 101k... waited a month before my dad could come up from home to check it out... he started it shifted through the gears and said we'll take it... I asked if we needed to test it and he said no, he could tell.. we were in the back alley and I had only ever been in the car with my professor, she never drove fast... I thought it had a 5.0L so I punched it to get it moving and nearly ran into the garage across the alley... never expected to have that much power and over the years I learned mine had all the most desireable extras... I put almost 80k on the car and loved it... only sold it because the electrical vats was failing and the trans was shifting poorly... I unfortunately was sick and couldn't work on it, I sold all my extra cars that year to get married... owned half a dozen sedan roadmaster sedan since... couldn't get another wagon, not that I wouldn't enjoy it but it wouldn't be the same car and that was enough to never bite the bullet... but I loved that car and the exact one would have to fall in my lap to bite the bullet... couldn't be close... would have to be the same...

My parents had matching Chevy Astro vans all through the 90s growing up... a dark brown 86 and a medium gray 88... they were base models, dog dish hubcaps, no tinted windows, vinyl seats and floors, no third row seats... only options were cruise control and am/fm radio... we had other Astros and safaris, over the years as they were perfect for my dad's antique business.. Those 2 we had the longest, and stuck in my mind the most... the gray one was my first car... always wanted another, if I could find the rare Astro RS or the rarer Safari GT... id want one how I was going to customize mine back in the day... driven a few here or there over the years... like that friend that even if you haven't seen each other in years, it's as if you saw them yesterday... nothings changed, everything feels the same... My wife is that way with Jeep Cherokees, she grew up with them and her father's was her first car... I've also owned half a dozen jeeps just for her... So I understand... Old friends to make new memories with

Indeed my family had the “Family Truckster” Ford Squire before the Olds, so we checked both the GM and Ford boxes in the 80s. Chrysler Minivans didn’t really catch on in my neck of woods until 90s. These wagons were it, unless you could afford a Conversion Van or Suburban.

I totally get the nostalgia factor and for two reasons I love this car. Dad bought a new 73 caprice estate blue with woodgrain and a 454... I can still remember the smell of the interior when it was new and the sound of that four barrel carb when you floored it! Fast forward to 1982 and dad bought me a 82 park avenue diesel and to this day it's a favorite of mine. Loved this video!

Those Buick rims are the nicest period correct wheels ever. My dad was a Buick guy and he had them on 3 of our Buicks, 64 Wildcat, 76 Electra Limited, 78 Park Avenue. Love them. I was never a fan of the woody look but these days it’s nostalgic. My favorite growing up, 76 Electra Limited. Cadillac Sedan Deville is my dream.

Very nice wagon! My childhood favorite car was my Dad's 1965 Plymouth Fury III 4 door hardtop that was metallic Navy blue with a light blue interior. That car was a fantastic freeway cruising car. He took all of us kids from our Detroit suburban home to our "Up North" cottage on the weekends. I remember it would be hot outside but with all the windows down the wind coming in kept all of us very cool. That car was fast, I always sat behind him in the back seat so I could watch the speedometer. Lastly, when he would pass cars on the two lane roads, he would kick it down to passing gear and the engine would come to life, I'll never forget that sound! That car would pass other cars just like they were sitting still, what a real family car with performance! Many great memories with my Dad and that car.

Took my driver's license test in a 1979 Buick Estate Wagon. Had an Oldsmobile 403 under the hood. My parents had a 1970 Cutlass Supreme Holiday coupe when I was born so I was destined to be a Olds kid. Our first station wagon was a 1972 Oldsmobile Custom Cruiser. They liked the Buick wagons so much they had 2 1979 Estate Wagons. Thanks for the trip back to my childhood.

We had a 1964 Chevrolet Impala Wagon with the same seat facing rearward. We used to go to the Drive In and my Dad would back it in so we could sit in the back. Us younger kids would go on the roof and sit with in the roof rack. My parents sat in lawn chairs. During intermission we would go play on the swings. What a great time we had. I love the memory of it. Both my parents are gone now.

Don't remember the year, early 70s, but Ford LTD was my grandpa's. It was HUGE to us kids, it was yellow with green top, no window dividers so when you rolled down the front & rear it was wide open. Dark green interior, it rode like a boat on the water! When I was young, I remember sitting down on the floor in the front passenger side, while grandpa drove! I LOVED it! Miss it & grandpa 😊

What a beautiful old wagon. Reminds me of my grandparents.. they always bought Buicks every year or two. One for him, a wagon and a sedan for her. They had a wagon similar to this. I was a teen back then so this year reminds me of my youth. I like that you pick more odd cars to show and drive..I get so tired of seeing Corvettes and 57 Chevys. At car shows that's all you see. I walk right past them. Great video! Your daughter will remember this car as her childhood car. It will bring great memories for her in life. Thanks again for this video!

I've always loved the monster wagons. My stepfather drove a late 70's Pontiac Grand Safari with the "Clamshell" rear tailgate. I remember on our way to Montreal, sticking my head out the only partially open back window and yelling for my mother in the front passenger seat (she didn't drive) to open the tailgate window all the way. She pushed the button the wrong way and I was screaming because my head was jammed in between. Ahhh....memories. Lol.

great memories we owned sister to that car, even same color, bought it 2nd owner, funeral home 1st. It was used to haul family from funeral home to grave site, and to haul caskets when hearse was not needed. It had lots of scratches on chrome at rear door floor, grandkids called it the body wagon. It was the turbo car. It had the digital display and it talked, "The Door is Ajar" etc.. If you find a near mint one I am your huckleberry. Those wheels make your wagon! I had an 84 Olds 88 and an 89 Grand Marquis. The New Yorker was so comfortable, I loved it! I know it is just a fancy K car. My childhood memory vehicle was a 1968 C10 step side. Factory 440, power steering, brakes, windows, cruise, tilt/telescopic wheel with rim blow, AM/FM 8 Track (originally AM 8 Track - changed out), power antenna and power door locks, 60/40 split bench seat (driver and passenger power), air conditioning, posi rear, rear window washer, roof rack, added step bumper with handles from a ‘70 wagon. The car was green with the factory woodgrain. I was going to add an Imperial dash for full instrumentation as well as dual exhaust (from the 70 donor) but never got around to it. I love station wagons. Your's is magnificent. I live the Buick wagon. My dad had a 1859 Ford Wagon four door. I can remember sitting by the tailgate, watching people and waving. ALSO the weekends at the driving sleeping in the back watching movies and eating till I fell asleep inthe back. I cried when my dad sold it for another car. The only wagon we every owned. I wish I could have one more day or with my parents and that wago n.

Nice wagon. I’ve recently purchased a survivor 1978 Mercury Grand Marquis wagon for the exact same reasons. Fireworks to pumpkin picking, to Christmas tree. It’s a weekend warrior. Family memories being made.

I recently bought a 1984 Audi 4000 S. My Mom had one new when I was a kid, and only 2 years later, he traded it for a 1982 Buick Electra Estate Wagon. Mom hated it, but I loved it too. I’d totally buy this wagon! Good for you!

My memory as a kid was my dads 1981 Oldsmobile Cutlass Cruiser wagon and my uncles 1978 Chevy malibu estate wagon. Now I own a 1980 Chevy malibu Classic wagon which i saved from being scrapped with no dash so I put in Cutlass Supreme dash which made me relive my dads Cutlass Cruiser wagon on the inside and on the outside my uncles Chevy malibu wagon. Beautiful wagon BTW.

Looooove your wife's wagon. Lol. I always thought they were so classy and elegant. The one that really brings back the warm n fuzziness was my parents 1973 Pontiac Grand Safari with the clamshell tailgate, white over burgundy vinyl/leather interior loaded with a burgundy vinyl top and roof rack with woodgrain as well, id loooove to have a grand safari clamshell again. Enjoyed this video Anthony, thanks for sharing...

When I was a kid my parents had a 1980 Oldsmobile Custom Cruiser; probably my favorite car that I remember my parents having. That car was traded for a Subaru wagon in 1990. When I was 18, in 2003 I too wanted to relive those memories and I bought a 1988 Buick Electra Estate Wagon, same color scheme as yours, but with blue velour and the wire wheel covers. Back in ‘03 these didn’t have quite the same “cool factor” that they do today… in fact it was a very odd choice for a young man right out of high school. I knew that the only thing it really needed was the Buick factory alloys. I tracked down a set of them online along with the factory center caps. At that time they were pretty cheap, but shipping them to Colorado was pricey. After several years, life changed and it unfortunately became impractical for me to keep it, so I sold it to a friend. I treasure my memories with my very own Electra Estate Wagon even more than my memories of my parent’s Custom Cruiser. The Electra Estates were indeed the finest of all GM B-body wagons.

Love it. I bought a low mileage 88 Pontiac Safari 15 or so years ago - same car basically- same underpowered Olds 307. It was great to drive and I never went anywhere that I wasn't stopped by a stranger who told me a childhood story about a vacation taken in one. It was the best conversation starter! I hated to part with it, but, well, life got in the way. The Buick version is my next favorite of the B-body wagons. MY childhood wagon was a mid-70s Country Squire with a lot more power!

The station wagon is always a very special car, because all that stories about childhood, memories with mom and dad, everything about it. In today`s world plenty of SUV`s line up from almost every car maker, I do prefer, personaly this old school wagons, better handling, better ride and cool looking. Living in US, or in another contry, in South America, as me, all folks gettin`40`s or 50`s and beyond, had very funny and enjoyable trips, family time that we will never forget. Your station wagon is priceless, man, keep her on the road like she is. So cool!!!.

My childhood memory car is the 1984 Mercedes 300SD Turbodiesel in my profile pic. A neighbor in the 80s had one. As a child, I wondered why it sounded so different. That Diesel clatter was elegant to me. I bought this one when it was 36 years old. It had been lovingly cared for by two families, and it’s my first choice for cruising down back roads. I’ve posted a couple videos of it, along with an E-Class Diesel from 1999.

We had a '92 Buick Estate wagon, but with the diesel engine. My dad hated that engine but I loved the car because it had so many luxury features. What a treat to see it again. I know the existing wheels are more sought after with Buicks but the alloys we had on the '92 were much better looking.
