The S2000 is functionally identical to the S3000XL, no idea why people think they're so different to each other! Another note: the EPROM chips only change the operating system functionally, not the sounds inside the system - they have to be loaded off somewhere or recorded in.

fantastic project, which is why I wanted to do the same thing you did. I found for 25 € an s2000 that I am cleaning and restoring. I have only one problem, I would like to learn how to create a floppy disk with the operating system but I don't know how to do it, so I ask you if maybe one day you would like to do a tutorial I would appreciate it as many akai fans. big props

I have both the S2000 and the original S3000 I have the HXC running on both The S2000 has the same board as the S3000 XL.

I've never tried HxC, but all I can say is with flash floppy installing a gotek in the S3000 (non XL) using the config files provided by r-massive is literally a plug 'n' play experience. No issues whatsoever. PS: I think it's kinda funny how you picked up a bent S2000 in a bent 5 series BMW lol

İ bought an s2000 some time ago in Netherlands, stock, in mint condition for only 30€. When equipped with 8x out board it's a great machine to handle some samples of you want to outsource them from your main sampler.

Hint/Note: From my understanding is latest internal firmware 1.5, but you can boot OS 2.0. You will always need a boot disk, if you dont have the FMC-01 expansion installed.

I got an S2000 a few years ago £30 bargain.Full memory and 8out board in .And I put an HxC floppy emulator in it .

Here the same one with floppy drive is scsi connected on Mesa and the other with a Lotharek Hxc Sd drive . Very fine machines with a great modulation matrix and punchy sound .

Sounds like you are overiting the OS disk image, Change your floppy to another blank disk before saving

Outputs board cost as twice as much than basic s2000 on its own, only because it fits MPC 2000. No wonder why someone just took it out and sold it separately..

The price on these seems to be rising steadily, I've only had an S5000: awesome machine, very powerful and only cost me £150. Cool that you're breathing a bit of life into old stuff that could quite easily end up in landfill if nobody took the time to appreciate it.

Luckily you can still find great machines for silly price from pawnbrokers ;) Just got EMU ESI-32 with expandend RAM, Firmware updates and Turbo Kit + IOMEGA ZIP drive last week for 60GPB altogehter.
