After much debate I bought a Suzuki Jimny 5 door, Alpha top end variant with an automatic transmission.

In this vlog I talk about my decision to purchase a Jimny over a Thar or a Gurkha, and what I like/love about the Jimny. I have owned my Jimny for just over a month and I am already in love with it. I know there are some minor things I wish were different or better, but the Jimny is an incredible vehicle.

You can squeeze a 3rd person, but on rare emergency occasions only. On long drives, the person in the middle won't have a comfortable ride as the seat belt slots will cause back pain."

As an owner of one, my main gripe is missing bottle holders on the doors as provided in any regular car. Since I’ve installed a slot-in armrest in the existing holders there is no place for a 1litre bottle. Accessories suggested: - White towel fabric seat covers; can be washed easily to maintain car freshness. It also brightens the interior. Add a back pocket, to keep water bottle. You cant imagine how dirty seats get and they are never properly cleaned or washed. Imagine wearing a white shirt for 5years without a proper wash, thats how dirty the black seats actually are. - Armrest - Noodle floor mats (red color) they absorb the dust without spreading them further and make the car look cleaner. It also adds some brightness. - Cordura accessories holder that goes over the gear area, helps to keep the phone, cords, wallet etc. - After marker inner rear view mirror with a bigger view. Great visibility. - Do NOT put a dashtray on top of the speedometer. I’ve seen them on many Jimny’s, they badly obstruct the view and will be an eye sore. The cordura holder will suffice. - I’ve installed a height extender for the 4x4 lever. It raises it by 5cm with a slight angle making it very easy to operate. The existing lever is very low and straight and difficult to operate on the go . It’s a simple plug-n-play installation. - Seat belt warning cancellation for rear seats ONLY. - I hate the default Auto-start/stop. Set the welcome message in infotainment to ‘Switch off Auto Start’. A genius idea by KZbinr HandsOn, credit to him. - Tyres 215/75 (ApterraAT). I guess this is mainly aesthetics .

Thanks for the comment and the suggested accessories. I do miss those water bottle pockets in the door and I think that's the only thing I hate. - I installed seat covers offered by Nexa and I can live with them for now. - However, I'll genuinely have to consider Cordura holder and an after market inner rear view mirror. - I agree the dashtray obstructs the visibility and I have decided against that tray. - I don't miss the armrest for now, but I wanted to install one. I may have to decide against it as I see it would offer no bottle holder. - I actually have set the same welcome message to disable auto start. - I am using the seat belt extender and that works wonders for the beeping alert. - I agree, At tyres are mostly related to the aesthetics, but 215/75 is definitely a better profile.

I have Jimny Alpha AT in Bluish Black. I don't allow 3 persons at back as because of that extra person all 3 at the back suffer. For rear seat belt alarm, I have put seat belt extender. Rear defogger wires are not even present in Japanese Jimny and so is illumination at AT gear lever. These are available as accessories even in Japan. I have got the chrome grill slats covered in black. I also was keen to upgrade the tyres but trust me the stock ones are the most suitable ones. I really love my Jimny and enjoying every bit of that.

Happy motoring with your Jimny. I am so glad to see so many happy Jimny owners. ❤️ The Jimny is registered as a 4 seater so I have no complaints. An extra person can be accommodated if there's an emergency. I agree that the seat belt extender works like a charm. I do miss illuminated gear shift, but it isn't that bad, and yes, the original grille painted black is the best thing. I purchased an after market grille, but I have sent the original to be painted matte black 🖤. Have you added any other accessories to your Jimny?

Please disconnect the seat belt coupler which is under the rear seat. if you disconnect the coupler the sound will go off. You need to remove the seat to get access the coupler. I have the same variant Alpha Automatic White.

Hmm, that's a great suggestion/hack. Thanks for sharing this. I'll look at this. I am also working on another video about accessories/modifications that may offer another simple solution. It should our next week. Also congratulations for your White Jimny. I was planning to buy white, but ended up selecting the yellow. I think white looks awesome when you dechrome and use matt black for accents. ❤️

Most welcome, yes I bought footstep cum rock sliders and dash cam. My observation was due narrow body bikes and cars were coming very close in Bangalore City rides and also in highways. But it worked like a medicine 😃 rest dash cam does the job well. That's all for now but have playto purchase under bonet insulation from Amazon. I felt the headlight is little dull so probably in couple of months I will change first the headlights. Otherwise I love this badboy (because of its underrated 😃)

It certainly does. I think it is very underrated. I love the suspension on the Jimny. It is way smooth when compared to Thar. The thar had a very bumpy ride when I tested.

Why does it SEEM that in the KZbin videos, the 5 door jimny in india seems to have a longer wheelbase than the 5 door jimny sold in the philippines?

Hmm, I'm not sure, but it shouldn't be different at all. The Jimny sold in India has a wheelbase of 2590m and as far as I know it's the same for all 5 door Jimny's across the globe.

I assume you mean you are confused between Thar Rwd and Jimny, what to buy. If yes, Thar is muscular and even the Rwd is a good option, but Suzuki is offering huge discounts this month on the Jimny. The manual starts at 9.99L as far as I know and with a proper 4x4 I'd recommend looking at the Jimny. It is practical. I'm not sure how M&M is going to price the 5 door Thar, but I'd take a test drive of the Jimny and ask for the best deal.

Ah, that's interesting. I think I can recommend a good road trip to the upper regions of Himachal. You can't go wrong with Lahaul & Spiti. I'd suggest waiting out the monsoon season though. A friend recently took his Jimny to Spiti and had a blast. 😃

Sorry to have missed this vital part in my video. It is registered as a 4 seater as pointed out by Akash aove, but 3 can squeeze at the back for rare emergency occasions. Long drives mein person sitting in the middle would face issues kyunki seat belt slots aapki back mein pain karenge. I have added this in the description.

Hey, Deepak. Thanks for stopping by. I am very happy with the stock tyres. They do the job fine. I think the primary reason why everyone wants to upgrade is the look and the ride for offroad purposes. I do believe the stock tyres will still serve you well if you go off-roading.

I have not noticed any sort of body roll to be honest. Mai bohot slowly or controlled way mein drive karta hu with the top speed barely going over 70-80. Maine highway pe constantly 100+ speed maintain ki thi aur body roll nahi tha.

I was just discussing this in another comment where - 215/75 (ApterraAT) were recommended. I don't mind the tyre profile that comes with the Jimny, but you may want to upgrade.

@@7kabir The ones that come with the vehicle should not have an issue. They are radials and tested for Mud & Snow (M+S). That should cover the basics. :)
