I actually have both. the 5.0 rspec is the better looking, faster and luxurious. Between both cars i'd say the m45 is the most fun to drive, they both revv high as hell! The m45 gets sideways so easy and the 5speed trans is punchy asf! 1st & 2nd gear are rippers and will spin from a dig 99%. Im not selling either one, both are rare and great reliable cars. Idk man, youll have to test drive both then decide your own. You'll be satisfied with either own. A HEADS UP, make sure u get a warranty asap with the 5.0 genesis bc they are expensive asf to repair/maintenance. A new 5.0 engine is 11-13k jus for the engine and thats damn near worth more than the car itself! Don't let that discourage you tho its still a great reliable car, just make sure u get warranty for safe insurance.

I have a 2013 RSpec sedan (better infotainment than the 2012). GREAT car and very rare. I like the sleeper"ness"? I got this for around $20k and it is worth every penny x2. Just put the car in auto and blast. the "manual" mode is only good if you want to hold a gear. The transmission is smart enough to shift for max power for a straight blast. Added dynomax VT mufflers for some sound. very happy indeed at 95k miles

I've found that pulling up on the tire iron or breaker bar works much better. You can get a lot of force from a kind of deadlift type position on it and once it gives you aren't going to careen into the floor because you were just putting your whole body weight downwards on the bar like a goof.

Supercharge that 2012 R-spec 5.0 make it 700 hp and race a 2012 Hellcat? The Genesis with gov off it can reach up to 186 the same as a 2012 Camero ZL1? Does anybody got a supercharged 5.0 Genesis 700 hp yet?

For the Summer I actually have ‘17 Mustang GT Track Pack 19” x 9.0 (255’s) front and 19”x 9.5” (275’s) on my ‘11 4.6. My buddy upgraded to the GT350 rims and I took those off his hands. I needed 12mm spacers on the front to clear the calipers and I had to drill out the backs of the rims where the studs from the spacer hit a little bit the rears bolted up with no issues. Much better traction with a lot less of the traction control kicking in.

Hello Alex, not sure if you still have the car but currently in the market for one. I was told these motors specifically 2012 models made on March 2012 or sooner had piston ring issues. I found a 2012 5.0 r spec with 150k miles for 6500. What do you think?

I have a genesis coupe with the same automatic transmission. you can get it tuned to turn off the auto upshift and also firm up the shifts

Rahlow98 it feels better. But I have to wait until it's colder out to get a comparable time at the drag strip. Before tune I ran a 13.5 @ 105. After I ran a 13.6 @ 103 or 104. But that was around 85 degrees out when the run previous was in the 60s

Try holding the traction control button. It might turn stability off as well. I have a 16 genesis coupe rspec. I press the button once for traction but if I hold it turns off stability and traction. Don't know if its the same for your 4 door genesis.

Cool to watch your experience with your R-Spec. I've had my 2012 5.0L R-Spec for just over 3yrs and absolutely love it. I did have the full exhaust redone, full 3" cat-back piping, scrapped that huge resonator, replaced it with an X-Pipe and two freeflow Magnaflow mufflers out back! Can't ever get enough of the sound. Also have BC Racing Coil-overs as well as 20" rims. I do agree about the soot all over the back, huge piss off every week to wash it. I also don't like the lag in the transmission shifts, 90% of the time I drive in manual mode, almost feels like a standard. The best solution to your transmission woes is a 6R80 swap. lol I'm genuinely excited to see you mess with this car. I bet the exhaust will sound pretty good once you chop off that resonator.

It’s a great car. I have a ‘09 4.6 with tech package & lexicon sound that I buy from my sister 09/17. The odometer was at 134k when I got it and now reads 169k on new engine. The car is in mint condition but she had the engine replaced under warranty at 87k miles. Two months ago I had transmission problems (ZF6HP26) with a bad solenoid. After watching a few BMW vids with same trans, I bought the kit and did the work myself. Runs great again and shifts even better. Good luck.

I will put a car on a stock 5th gen ss auto. Stock 5.0 with a bad driver too. Ask me how I know. If you find a way to tune these things you'll be a god. lap3 performance tuned it just recently in Korea. The auto stick is only good for doing rolls Eco button don't do a thing Launching in 1 "sport" first raised my 60ft by a tenth.
