Would you say it's doable for a CS university graduate from a different country to find a job in SF? Do you need refferals, or could I just knock on the door?

Hey folks, thanks for the question! I'd say yes you can, but there is a bit of work to do. Here they are: 1. If one is not a us citizen or a green card holder, and does not have H1B visa which requires an employer to file petition for you to get, the most possible way is to study in the US and get OPT visa and then during your OPT, ask your employer then to file for H1B for you.

2. If studying is not an option, you may try this school called Day 1 CPT school, look them up! They allow you to work from day 1 but you are technically working with a university's sponsorship in visa. I have friends who did that.

3. I also had friends who worked at Gov/NGO because they would just sponsor you with H1B without a lottery

4. For the job itself, you need to reach out to people on LinkwdIn or Twitter, and just cold email/message people. That's how I got started. Don't be worried if people don't reply to you, just keep doing that. Introduce yourself genuinely, succinctly, and tell them about why you are passionate about the position.
