Why I chose: Pearl

Pearl is in my top 3 of all time. Pearl, DW/PDP and Yamaha. Hands down, the best drums ever made to this day.

Great vid Dave. Like you I have a history of Pearl kits. Export, BLX , Masters in green (after seeing Steve Whites too), CrystalBeat, Wood/Fibre kit. And about 2 years ago bought an old WLX in natural satin with a matching snare.

Dave, first, thank you. I have a ton of snares, but only one kit: Platinum Mist Wood Fiberglass. I have all the toms except 8-inch tom (which I think they might have made) and the 18-inch floor tom (again, which I think they made). I don't really desire those two drums, but there is a drum I'd give my left nut for: 22-inch bass drum. I would settle for a 24-inch (I can find 26s, but just too much), but the 22-inch has been my ongoing search for a while now. I do have the 20-inch bass, but would like to have the 2-inch extra option. You blew my mind when you mentioned the Wood Fiberglass in a couple of your videos. Yep, just great drums and sold me on all things Pearl.

It's been a while since they've made them now, but have you asked if they'd make you a 22"? I asked a few years back and they made me an 8". I'm sure it wasn't a catalogue item. Worth asking if nothing else.

I had a BLX, I loved it. I think the re rings gives the toms killer low end

My first kit (I personally owned) was a Pearl Export. I had seen it with a green wrap in fusion sizes and I was instantly smitten. It definitely served me well and always got comments about the colour. However, after selling that kit have more or less moved on to Yamaha Drums.

I had a pearl export anniversary drum set I really loved but I wanted a set of either maple or birch. I currently have a pearl masters maple complete, which is a good solid set and it's the very beautiful vermilion sparkle. I really wanted the mcx or bcx which I own a 5.5x14 mcx in diamond glitter. The mcx and bcx have die cast hoops, which I prefer. I have a friend with a maple session custom which I fell in love with but I ended up with the mct master's maple complete.

They are, yes. And yes I have, but I have a new Genista one coming up at some point with some new drums Ive added since the last one.

I remember drooling over a Liquid Amber Pearl Masters kit in standard sizes played by Dennis Chambers. I think it was a Masters kit🤔 anyway, yes, this would be my choice, but in a five or even four piece. I also quite like the Pearl DLX

Not a huge fan of pearl, maybe I should look into them again. I owned a reference drum kit 8 or so years ago and just couldn’t get on with it. Unfortunately, I started playing drums after their early glory days in the 80’s and 90’s.

Try grabbing one of the older kits. They're usually pretty good value and if you don't get on with it, you know it'll hold the value you bought it for.

cant go wrong with pearl. my main kit atm is a 14 piece pearl bcx
