I’ve have been riding my 07 Classic 900 for 13 years and last year I thought that I would have a look around for a newer bike. I looked at bigger bikes, sports bikes, more expensive bikes etc etc ,and after spending a day searching and covering at least 150 miles............The Vulcans still in the garage

the Vulcan 900 is my 5th bike, Ive owned Harley softail, and others - this is my FAVORITE bike! Engine counter balanced, rubber mounted, water cooled, fuel injected, belt driven SMOOTH! - its lighter than the big bikes 630lbs vs 950 lbs - so easier to handle and keeps up with them. a GREAT cruiser! I put risers on the handle bars, custom grips, cobra pipes, highway bar, triple headlights, hardbags with LED flashers on them, mustang seat with back rest - WHAT A COMFORTABLE cruiser! - It is 903CC but feels like a 1200cc. - love the old fashioned gas gage and so much more! I DONT ride to impress people with what I ride, I ride for myself! - but not by myself.

653 lbs is a pretty light cruiser, perfect for a beginner rider. I'm 5'10 I ride a Yamaha Royal Star tour deluxe. They are 858 lbs with gas and with me on it pushing 1000 lbs. Certainly not a beginner bike I've been riding 25 years. It is important IMO to start on the right bike, something smaller and light like you have is a perfect starter bike. Larger bikes for those who have not mastered their riding skills can be intimidating and turn them off to riding before they even get into it.

I'm really glad for you that you love riding your bike. You seem way happy on it. I fell the same way riding mine. I've ridden since I was about 10 years old and I'm 70 now. I've owned Harley's my entire life. but retire my income won't support a new Harley and mine has 120,000 miles on it. So I bought a new 2019 classic LT. I got a really good deal on 5999.00 with 1 mile on it I've had it 10 weeks it has 5500 miles on it already. and I taking off in a few weeks for another 2800 mile ride. I'm way liking my vulcan, would liked to have gotten a vaquero or voyager but payments are to big also and for to many years. So lucky I have this one. it rides comfy and smooth. but it needs to me geared about 10 mile a hour taller for me do 70 like 60 would be good, may be a 34 tooth front sprocket will do the trick this winter. gear it up 2 teeth! keep riding i enjoyed your happiness in your Video I glad you excited. I get the same way. be safe

I have an 06, Midnight black and I love the machine. I have added crash bars, Vance and Hines exhaust and floor boards for passenger. Its my second bike, Previously I had a Suzuki GS500F which I owned for 10 years. Great bike but I outgrew it and it was not a bike for bringing a passenger. The 900 is fantastic to take the wife or one of my kids, They love it and are comfortable on it. This will be my bike for at least the next few years until I purchase my Vanquero. The 900 is a great machine for a beginner or seasoned rider. Just a quality machine

After doing a lot of research and visiting several dealers including HD, Indian, and some independents, I found a 2017 Classic with 6500 miles on it. Purchased in Jan 2021, it is a fantastic fit and a great riding bike. Easy to work on too. I have already installed Viking Bags, Kawasaki sissy bar with backrest and luggage rack, Barron Engine guard, Memphis Shades batwing fairing / windshield, Kuryakyn ISO grips with throttle boss, and Kawasaki Passenger floorboards. Very happy with this purchase and NO regrets!

Thinking about one for my son's first bike, is that a good choice? I feel like it is?
@crazylegzmark
@crazylegzmark 4 жыл бұрын
I would say yes depending on your son's size. The bike weight is 653lbs wet with a seat height of 28 inches. If your son is less than 5'9" he might have trouble flat footing it. I would try the Vulcan S. Also have him sit on the bike to see if he feels comfortable on it.

what did you end up getting? i just moved from the 750 to the kawi 900. i dont feel a big difference in weight or really in power. i do find a big difference in balance. the 20L tank on the kawi makes it pretty top heavy with a full tank compared to the 12-13L in the shadow.

@@TheDarkestOne In an ideal world, Honda swaps the chain on the Rebel 1100, takes my money, and calls it a day. But we don't live there. I'm still waiting for American Honda to announce their 2024 Rebel 1100. The main Shadow Phantom / Kawi 900 Custom attraction was the low to non-existent maintenance of the final drive. I told myself I'll never lube another chain as long as I live. As for a used phantom, I can live without ABS, but I do want it, and 2024 is the first year Honda puts ABS on the phantom.

James Swayda You can handle it for sure. They sit low. I bought it as my first bike a couple months ago and it’s very easy to handle. But the Vulcan S 650 is lighter and faster... I think they’re cool too. It’s the same engine as the Ninja 650. But I think the 900 is great for a first bike. I belong to a bunch of Vulcan groups on Facebook and you’d be surprised a lot of women ride them too. I love mine! Couldn’t be happier. I got a 2009 Classic LT 900 with 7,000 miles for $3500... and you can find them cheaper.

It is a great bike, after my mods ! But the reason I bought it was because they gave me a $10,000.00 credit card and let me ride away without even having insurance with $200.00/ month payments ! And Harley Davidson wouldn't ! It was low geared and dogged out prefomance new ( so Harley can compete )I was very disapointed at first ! But I put front and rear pulleys , 200 rear tire , fuel management , bigger air cleaner and 2 into 1 headers , she still needs one more high end gear but she goes more than fast enough for me now ! The speedo reads 5 mph under actual speed ! She has 40,000 miles, all mine ,all over nothern CA and up to Canada ( didn't cross the border, I don't go where Americans ain't allowed ,like Cananda or airplanes ,I held the guns while the others went ) !

The 900 is pretty easy to manage even for a newer rider. But if you feel uncomfortable with the size always go smaller until you are comfortable. Ultimately you just want to have fun. You will want to go bigger as soon as you are used to the 650 so be prepared to want to upgrade pretty quickly.

How easily does the windscreen come on & off? I'm looking at getting a bike again and the Vulcan S & 900 are the two main bikes I'm trying to decide between. The S has a quickrelease screen, the 900 doesn't seem to. Remembering back to my last bike 15 years ago, I had a sports bike with a small screen so in a standard public-road riding position the wind would hit my chest and higher. I only got annoyed by the wind after about 2 hours in the saddle on mostly-straight roads. So for the most part I won't want one, but for longer rides I will. The less hassle to add/remote the better for me.
