I’m in the same situation right now. I think turbos are coolers overall, but specifically the Harrop supercharger seems to be a be a perfect fit that’s hard to pass up. Almost double the torque throughout the whole power band, capable of 280-350 wheel depending on your fuel/ pulley size whilst retaining an Oem appearance under the hood. If that supercharger didn’t exist I’d go turbo 100% but I’m still going back and forth

The greddy kit is a good kit, I just think the JDL kit overall is better and has more options, plus I’d rather have the open dump and the UEL manifold than the turbo flutter from the greddy kit. And apart from the sounds both kits make I still favor the JDL kit, how it’s set up.

Hey man just wondering, did you have to do a clutch upgrade or any fuel system upgrades to your car? I’m trying to turbo my 86 and I’m trying to find a kit that doesn’t require clutch/fuel upgrades along with a ton of tuning to the ecu.
@hachirokucam70963 жыл бұрын
I actually have a video of every modification that’s done to my car. But to sum it up, almost everyone’s stock clutch will fail with forced induction, it’s just when will it fail. No fueling upgrades. I’m at 300 whp and 235 wtq on 93 octane, with the 7psi wastegate spring that comes with the JDL kit. Tuning is everything, not optional. Get a good tune from Zach @ CSG. If you turn the brackets that mount your radiator around, it gives you more clearance, it will tilt the radiator and fans forward a tad, it’s a close fit, you’ll have to cut off some of the plastic guard around the fans, but it works with stock fans if you get creative

@@flintlights you can’t use just any header, you would need a turbo manifold. It’s not like a supercharger where you could use any header brand whether it be EL or UEL. And on top of that JDL is one of the top quality brands out there in terms of these things.

@@hachirokucam7096 u didn’t follow the EL trend I see for all these kits?! What’s the down sides you experienced?
@hachirokucam70964 жыл бұрын
@@229Mike no downsides, subaru uses UEL manifolds for so many of their turbocharged engines because UEL actually gives boxer engines better mid range torque. The new wrx doesn’t have one simply because it’s a twin scroll turbo so you can’t use UEL manifold. I mean if you wanna make above 500whp that’s when you should seriously consider EL header for the more even exhaust flow. Below that UEL is a good way to go, good rumble, typically helps with mid range torque. UEL manifold suited my application very well.
@229Mike4 жыл бұрын
@@hachirokucam7096 Yeah I do like the rumble personally, before I saw this I couldn’t find many turbo kit’s with an EUL for some reason... actually I couldn’t find none lol... then of course I was googling and checking the forums and just kept running into people saying it’s not common or isn’t done.. nonetheless I did buy a full blown EL Ceramic coated- top of the line lol... though I’m sure I will like it when installed (so I was thinking about returning it LOL) obviously I will miss the rumble I think I will lose... not sure how it will affect loudness comparably to an UEL header. Knowing my luck, you might have experience saying it’s quieter than an EL too lol idk- which I would prefer.
