Great video. About 3rd time I have seen it. Every time I get something new out of it. This time, 'short backswing, acceleration with rotation.' I keep trying to teach this to juniors. I keep experimenting with different things. But because most kids have huge range of motion, they just feel like they are only taking it back 1/2 way. Some get it, but then over a few days, they are back to the full backswing and 'swinging' again. (My life is so hard. ;-) LOL! )

Hi John, I’m considering flattening the lie angles of my irons 3 degrees. Do you advise flattening the lie angles of my wedges too? Thanks!

Forest Fezler! Didn't he have the course record at Spyglass early on until Bobby Clampett broke it? I think Fezler's record was 69. . . .old ball, old equipment.

Funny he mentions Bradley Hughes. They both now teach virtually identical swing concepts.

Any online stuff with both you and Bradley?? You guys should make some stuff together. I assume you both had lots of interactions together on ABS

Mr Erickson, it would be good, to hear your views, on putting technique.

First view would be whatever works. Second view would be if whatever "doesn't:" work.. then ditch common putting theory and use our ABS Chip rolling method... so you don't have to putt anymore. I believe it's a much better method and actually supported theoretically by some of the greatest putters of all time.

I simply use weight shift to move the club, ie : the rotating mass. No intentional shoulder turn, manipulation of the hand and arms 😊

Golf doesn’t need growing, it needs more intelligent discussion from the likes of players like Mr. Erickson.

To me golf seems like it's shrinking. Mare Island Golf Club has closed down. Fig Garden where my college team practiced often has closed down. A few other courses around the Bay Area here have closed down. I never remembered a golf course closing down when I was growing up.

Interesting… here in Las Vegas it’s hard to get a tee time sometimes.

@@lagpressure isn't that partly because of a huge number of overly ambitious courses being built pre 2008?

I’m not sure to be honest. I’ve lived here for 25 years … can’t think of too many closures. Royal Links was one but all our courses are busy. Who are crowded courses good for? Not the players.

Never understand when dedicated players can't get good at putting..... seems to be just a matter of practice

Well, I think you said it best here... there is a difference between being a "good" putter and a "great" putter. I have always been a good putter relative to club golfers etc.. but to really make it on the pro level, you have to be a great putter, and that just isn't available to everyone.

@@lagpressure Thanks for explaining! As what most of us think is great is only good at the pro level...
