See how God works? I’m a mom of an 11 year old daughter. I never went to College as I felt that it wasn’t for me. I went to business schools and had achieved the certifications I needed for my career. I recently started feeling that I missed out on the College experience, particularly joining a sorority and living on campus. I began searching for HBCU’s in my area and watching college life on KZbin videos. Last night, my daughter and I watched several of the AkA’s probate ceremonies. I explained to her what I learned about it and how prestigious it is to be a part of a sorority and the divine 9, etc. I’m a saint and I hate to say it but I’m a backslider. I was about to watch some other sorority videos (Delta Sigma Theta- Oprah’s sorority) AND GUESS WHO POPPED UP IN MY KZbin TIMELINE? YOU! I learned that your fraternity are brothers to AKA’S my sorority of choice for my daughter. I also learned that God still loves me😢 and still cares about me😢 I was convicted IMMEDIATELY! You seem much more joyful 💙💙 I use 2 be obsessed with the Dawgs when i was in college & i got this one look from a Q that i liked & after that i REALLY was hooked. Thought of joining the Deltas just to get closer to them. God did save me from that lifestyle but praise God that He drew you out of the org & had cleansed you from a toxic mindset. We are saved by grace through faith(Ephesians 2:8,9) and that mot of ourselves it is a gift from God. The rapture will be happening soon 💙 & stay of good courage. That is a word! Thank you for your transparency & standing on the truth of God's word because I needed to hear it. Although I never pledged a greek letter organization, I always had interest. Prior to graduating in 2011, I was a part of a small group of young women that was trying to reinstate sigma gamma rho on our campus along with the grad chapter of Philly. Apparently, this organization was suspended due to hazing (red flag), however, I really wanted to join due to my affiliation with this organization in high school. The reinstatement fell through and I had no interest in any of the other sororities because the ladies carried so much pride, arrogance & delusions of grandeur that was off putting. Fast forward to 2017, I decided to try & go for grad chapter. The senior pastor at my former church is a member of a black greek organization & sometimes congregants would openly where their letters at church so I perceived pledging as being okay. However, I decided to walk away from I guess what would be "pre-pledging" because I found that particular chapter to be disingenuous and was very lackadaisical when it came to community service. They had a facade of doing the work of the organization without actually putting in the work in the community. Fast forward to 2020 and I'm starting to get that itch again of wanting to join a sorority. So, I don't count it as a coincidence that denouncing greek orgs videos have been showing up in my timeline. I've repented of those desires and I give all glory & honor to God for using you as a vessel to lead me to the truth. And I'm grateful that God has blocked every attempt I made in trying to join these orgs and I pray that those who are in the faith are lead to truth by way of the Holy Spirit.

It's not like being in this world and not of it... but to go and actually join an organization to say you're not of it, is a contradiction within itself. The Bible says in John "“I have given them your word. And the world hates them because they do not belong to the world, just as I do not belong to the world. I’m not asking you to take them out of the world, but to keep them safe from the evil one.”" ‭‭John‬ ‭17:14-15‬ ‭NLT‬‬ You are already NOT A PART of the world if you are born again in Christ. So what the world has to offer you cannot bind yourself to it and be separated at the same time. You have to pick a side. Be encouraged!

Honestly didnt even want to engage in getting to know know who because of I'm fully aware that its roots are demonic. But we do a lot of things out of ignorance. ☝🏾 But the Holy Ghost reminded me that God looks at the heart. He also said David was a man after God's own heart but even he sinned but David repented and God forgave me. I believe God will use me to help this man get to where he needs to be in Lord. Not here to argue but to point at something. I'm not a member of any Greek orgs, however I have seen a plethora of these denouncement videos and I had to do some research to get some understanding. Most of the makers of the videos reference Matthew 5 : 33 - 36. Please go and read it. What I think people are misunderstanding is the context of these verses. In that time people notoriously abused oaths and called God to Witness even when they may not have been absolutely truthful hence Matthew 5:33 mentions Forswearing which means to lie under oath. In other words, this passage of scriptures means DON'T CALL ME (Jesus) TO WITNESS ON YOUR LIES UNDER OATH. What the denouncement video makers leave out is verse 37 which states "But let your communication be, Yea, yea; Nay, nay: for whatsoever is more than these cometh of evil." This means that you should rely on your own integrity when you speak words. When you say yes, mean it. When you say no, mean it. You shouldn't have to swear on god to get people to believe what you are saying. In the case of swearing in in a court case, then that is the perfect situation to say, I affirm that my words are true instead of swearing...on the bible no less. Towards the end of swearing an oath to organizations such that you promise to hold its secrets and destroy the organization from within and uphold its values, there is NOTHING WRONG with AFFIRMING that you will do these things. Your yes should mean yes and your no should mean no. I'm open to hearing other POVs if you disagree.

Byron, thanks for your comment. I agree with the entire Bible. Because you are not a member, you have yet to see or take the oath. But the oath taken during initiation is beyond a yea/nay... This stuff is online by the way. Also if you're married when you go to the court they ask you a question which is an oath, that requires a YES/NO answer. Nothing extra but this conversation can get deep. The oaths in secret societies require you cursing yourself because if the consequences of breaking the oath. @@BrotherHeed Hey SPR 20 here. I understand what your saying, but I viewed the oath and initiation as a simple yes or no to uphold traditions and ideals. Nothing more nothing less. I think folks get caught up in greek life to the point they start worshipping it(the colors, calls, and shield). I've seen that across the D9. And tbh for me its not that deep to put above my god. The process I can say strengthened my love and appreciation for the org, but like I said I just feel putting god in frat in the same basket is taking it too far. Did the process give me some mental scars? Yes. Was it crazy? Yes. But did I get through? Yes I did and also just kept in mind that there was always some pros that pledged harder than me. I didn't give my soul for my org nor would I die for it but that's just my opinion brother. Blessings to you.
